The first I played was the game called "Cosmic Osmo". I wonder, if anyone else knows it aswell here...

Hmm well if you go with pen and paper: D&D
If you go with computer: The winding road-a Semi graphic but mostly text based game on the Apple II (claim to infamy; my friends and I breaking into school to play this game. Janitor was a *** and turned us in 5th grade teacher Ms. Stepanaski was awesome and told us to just come let her know and she would let us in on weekends)

I'm having a hard time putting them into a correct order it was so long ago lol. The first Resident Evil? The first Legacy of Kane? There was some dragon turn based game a dude I was dating got me hooked on for a while too. Then of course there was Diablo. But that came after those other ones. And the 2nd Legacy of Kane. Around that same time I was also playing Darkstone. And the first Fallout was probably my first one on PC.

Hard to remember tbh but I remember this one off the top of my head..

One time I had stayed up all night playing it and my sister came into my room the next morning to tell me she had accidentally locked my dads keys in the Bronco, so in a sleepy stupor I told her to pick up the controller and walk into the door, press A and scroll down to Unlock.. and keep trying until it succeeds.

I got really irritated that she wasn't understanding that the lockpicking was a dice roll and she had to keep trying until it worked, and that I kept having to re-explain it to her.. until finally I realized what we were talking about.

Ultima 8 on PC... right after Warcraft 1 and possibly Heroes of Might & Magic 2.
My PC had a whole 300k HDD space, so if I wanted to play a different game I had to uninstall the first one to make space. Even more annoying than dial up internet, waiting for images to load line by line.

I don't remember the name of my first RPG.

It was a shareware bought on a 5.25 floppy at a used book store.

It was a dungeon crawl and the walls of the dungeon were lines of **** and the various critters were single capital letters.

It was a blast to play... at the time.

DnD 2nd Edition was the start of it for me. My first computer RPGs were text based MUDs. Age of Dragons was my favorite. My first MMO was runescape. Anyone who thinks this game is a grind... psssh. In RS the grind was real.

I didn't even know what an RPG was back then, but looking back I guess it would have to be Ultima II on my Atari 1200XL. I also played Hexen on my Win95 PC back in the day...but that's more of a Fantasy-themed Quake mod than a true RPG.
My first "modern" action RPG was Morrowind

This was my first "RPG". It was text only, and it was for the Tandy TRS 80 computer. Circa 1981.
