Fozzilize ( Mag DK) broken?

So i spend a lot of time at the moment trying to get better at duelling and for the last weeks i realized the number of Mag Dk's was growing rapid. Not that i have anything against flappy wings etc etc but one certain skill makes me go wow.
I'm talking about " Fozzilize" why does this skill hard cc and soft cc a target? That's super stupid especially for magicka classes.
So either you have to spend 2 times your already limited staminapool to move free or you will spend the whole fight in one place while the dk dances around you bombards you with Skoria, dots and flame lashes. I find it extremely boring to fight them cause either i have a real static fight or i have to drain near all of my stamina for one skill.
Maybe i'm not that experienced and i'm missing something but i can't find a thing how to avoid that cause it's near instant.
Would be interested what other players think about that
PS: Again this is no rant or nerf Mag DK ( they were nerfed to the ground for a long time) it's just an outcry from a learning magicka player who don't finds a way how to counter it by himself

✭✭As a magicka class vs fosilize, you just have to break free, then the root is purgable or if you are a sorc you can streak (u cannot rotate camera while you are rooted), mNB can use teleport strike, templar can cleanse. The only magicka class which doesnt have a skill to counter it is magiicka dk and they should use purge.Because I can!1 -

✭Horrible skill to fight against. However, along with Fear, it is a hard CC that does not do damage, so there is a trade off in slotting and using this skill.

I'm playing the mag Sorc and to be honest i can't see how streaking away would do me any good ( yeah maybe buying me one sec of time) i just can't rotate my camera around and that feels so weird. But the purge thing maybe is an option, i mean i won't run out of mana vs any mag class so yeah maybe i should try that. Thanks for the advice

✭Come on guys you need to know that once you take damage x while fossilized the CC is broken. I think the damage threshold is 1400. It's a CC yeah but why would you waste the stam to get out of something that is at least in a duel going to be broken on the next hit. Dueling players use the 2 second to wind up a cast time hit. if you wait for it they will remove the cc for you yes there is a damage from it but once you are broken free cleanse and continue. no snare no dot not an issue. FYI I do believe also that this triggers CC immunity. seems to me that this ability is counter productive in the long run. Personally i enjoy the extra time to recover and yes this does proc fascilla's so fossilize away..... I rarely say this in fact i don't think i ever say this but this is a l2p issue.5 -

you are 100% right in that point that was my intention for this whole topic. I couldn't come up with any counter for it but your explanation was perfect infact i didn't know that the cc would break if he attacks me again

Thing is if you go for any of first 2 options, DK will automaticly reaply it. As a magPlar you can deal with is since it costs more then a purge, but stam class will quickly run out of res against talon spaming DK.
