Would love some input before I change to Vamp... Have you vamps experienced more difficulty from fire in VMA? Also anyone who plays VMA: If you could give me your own perspectives as to how often you see fire damage in these rounds that would help make my decision as well.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

Round 8 and 9 will make you want to cure your Vampirism. That's what I did on my Templar for the first couple clears.

The increased fire damage does really suck especially in the last 2 rounds, however you can just feed and go to stage 1 vampirism before going into the arena and it's just like not being a vamp.

I did it on my Templar several times as vamp. Stage 8 and 9 are slightly more difficult but overall it's not a big deal. If you have a lot of trouble with fire dmg you can still feed to reduce the vamp stage. As long as you don't use vamp abilities you will be in a stage for 4 or 6 hours. If you need the reg you can push to stage 2 and only have 15% more fire dmg.

If you have trouble, try to put all of your cp in Elemental Defender. That should reduce the overall fire damage!

Just bring your Vampirism to stage I for stage 8 & 9 and you will be fine.

I always put more points in Elemental Defender as well as that's where most threats come from.
Careful though as a few stages feature many dangerous Physical or Poison Damage (I'm thinking stage 7 specifically), but once you know the mechanics and rounds of the stages, you know how to circumvent that. (Rune Prison or other long duration Hard CC will be of great help in those, or simply using a Defensive Sigil if you don't care about your overall score.)

I've completed 8 and 9 without dying in stage 4 vampirism on my stamina dragonknight. It was a total accident too, I usually just stage 1 the whole arena but forgot I was in stage 4 and realised at end of 5.

I might stage 4 all the time though since it wasn't too bad.

Just feed to vampire Stage 1 and there will be no issues with being a vampire. You lose all the goodies but you're just like a normal person getting stomped.

I don't notice being a stage 4 vamp as a sorc in vMA. On someone's advice I took all points out of bastion and put them into hardy, ele defender and thick skinned. Still had a 20k ward which I highly suspect doesn't take increased fire damage. If you play a class with no damage shield though you will probably notice.

Edit: sorc vamp is a no-brainer imo, all benefits and no drawbacks.

When I completed vMSA for the first time a few weeks ago I was a stage 4 vampire. However I did shift 100 points into elemental defender. I really needed the extra regen so I didn't want to go stage 1.

Stage 2 probably would be a good compromise (15% more fire damage, but with 10% more mag/stam regen) but I didn't really work it out at the time.
