Gina said that locked RNG boxes were not planned at the current time. Crown crates are most definitely not locked RNG boxes. A locked RNG box is what CS:GO has, where you get the crate and then have to pay for a key to open it. They have not and will not be added, furthermore remember they said they "are not planned" over a year ago. Plans change, things change.

Crown crates are a very different system and actually will likely work quite well. All cosmetic and you can save up Crown Gems for the specific item you want in a season. .

Uhhhh... what's the difference between getting the chest for free and having to pay for a key, versus just paying for a crate and not needing a key?

The answer: absolutely nothing except your perception.

It's whats in the box that matters. Your reasoning here about the keys and so forth makes absolutely no logical sense.
