Sure. The game is still just as broken as it was before, but hey, sweet new words on the screen, though, right?

I like it so far even though it is a little strange compared to what I am used to on a PC... but with time I think I will get very used to it!!

Console chat is great!..... 1 issue and 1 complaint.


The issue:

When you want to link an item in chat to sell or find from other players you cannot add a short message to the item you linked.

I'll give you an example.

This is what you would see in live:

GreenSoup2HoT - says: [Namira's Rot]
GreenSoup2HoT - says: anyone have any of this ^

GreenSoup2HoT - says: Looking to buy this
GreenSoup2HoT - says: [Agility Ring]


Any item in-between these [ ] means it has been linked and you can view the item on the right side of the text chat screen when you hover over a players message. This provides all the information you need about an item without mentioning any details. Traits, Level, Quality and Enchantment are all listed as if you were previewing any item in the game from your inventory or a guild vendor.


You should be able to type something like this:

GreenSoup2HoT - says: [Namira's Rot] Willing to buy this item. Whisper me etc.
or
GreenSoup2HoT - says: Hey does anyone have an [Agility Ring] ?



This isn't a big issue. It just means you have to go out of your way and type out every detail about an item you want to sell instead of just linking it quickly with a short message. Linking items kind of seems pointless with the way it was implemented.




Why is this a problem for console text chat?

Just typing down what your trying to sell or buy does not provide enough information. Players need to know quality, enchantment, trait, etc when purchasing an item. Linking an item also makes it easy for players to identify what your talking about because not everyone knows the names of all the items in game.

In order to link a message, you will need to type down another sentence after or before which may get split if any other player types before you can enter in your next message.

I think ZOS needs to go in and make sure when linking an item, it does not send the message straight away. After linking an item you should be able to go back to your chat log and add on to that message to make text chat a lot cleaner and user friendly.

All i see in text chat are players linking items but i have no idea if they are buying or selling the items.


My complaint: A lot of players are linking bind on pickup items which is rather annoying to see (kind of bragging they have maelstrom weapons in text chat for no reason. I don't think is what text chat should be utilized for). Considering you cannot buy or sell bind-on-pickup items, i don't think you should be able to link them in text chat.

Players are also linking Treasures they find which is fun and dandy but its kind of pointless in my opinion since they are also bind-on-pickup.

If all Bind-on-pickup items were not link-able, i think text chat would be far better off without the item spam.

Yeah give it time... When i was finally able to log in tonight text chat was pretty empty but when i had to log out, a lot more people were using it.... I think after more people get the patch downloaded and turn on text chat you will see it become very active!!

Not going to use it bc I hate clutter on my screen. If you cant talk to me I wont talk to you.
