This is the solo thing right? It makes no sense what so ever to complete hard solo content and the rewards not be specifically aimed at your character. It's not a group loot so why is it random? Lacks understanding of the reward system in games. A game should reward atleast one player for completing something and when it's a solo player it NEEDS to be relevant.

What so you run it once and it's done for? Christ you obviously have no idea how good this change actually is, be grateful before they change their minds. It's like saying Kena should ALWAYS drop a helmet and SPC gloves.

Well who actually repeats solo content happily? Lol. I won't be doing it more than once. They chose to add solo hardcore content, they should have forseen the boredom in repeating it without reward.

After you do it the first time you can BoE epics and gold

I just turned 160. In my first post I literally asked what it was he was talking about as I'm unsure with every acronym in this game yet

But when I do get to end game content I've no interest in solo stuff that doesn't give a pre expected reward. If I dont know why I'm doing it then why would I? The challenge? For me challenge is managing to work as a big team, not being good solo which I've been doing from beginning of game anyway hahah

If that is how you think reward and loot systems should work then you are in for a massive shock dude, you have thousands of hours of disappointment ahead of you.

But this change is as good as it's going to get, if you're magika and you land a sharpened maul don't be disappointed, its awesome save it for another toon. it took me 7 months to get an inferno and that's trying at least 5 times a week with weekly leader board rewards, this change is awesome. you won't ever have the pain of getting Glorious defender helms at the end or crappy rings one after the other. this is as good as it's going to get. we should all be grateful.

Why don't we just hand you your weapon of choice before you even start the arena? Seems to me you don't want to do anything to earn it.
Seems to me that the 50% chance is broken i have done this arena enough to earn it so yeah.

It's definitely how reward systems should be, how loot should be is different because as someone who's JUST got to the cap I don't understand it perfectly. But reward? We play MMOs because we have dopamine issues, it's basically a fact that we all share this addictive tendency or we wouldn't have gotten to such a high level. We like meaningless rewards that we give our own meaning to.

I just think that since its solo and apparently a really hard challenge, you shouldn't finish it and ever be disappointed with the result.

Is there an associated title? Something visual to say "yeah I'm a badass" even if you didn't get gear?

To everyone saying it should be easy as a flick of a finger to get the precious weapon everyone is seeking.
I don't agree. It should be hard to get. But possible. Right now, it's almost impossible to get.

With the upcoming change it will now be more possible.

I still think PVP players are somewhat left behind and still have to put a lot of time and effort in a territory they don't enjoy much (PVE) to land the said weapon.
I wish there was a second way to land Maelstrom weapon for us, PVP players.

Something like being able to buy it with a very high amount of AP. (2+ millions?)
Or making it a random weapon that can be purchase for 500k AP.

But eh, I'm not complaining, It's a good thing vMA drops are buffed, I might actually go a do a few runs once the update rolls out.

Pvp players are normally geared (physically and mentally) towards fighting another Player.
PVE (Especially tough content like vMA) is a complete different thing.

Actually not true PVP players are better geared for VET MA than pure Endgame PVErs.Who mainly do trails and Vet dungeons. In PVP it'd all about self sustaining and Keeping your buffs up and not having to rely on other players. We know if you don't keep moving and keep that heal going you're die.For example solo players like @FENGRUSH first person to beat it on a stam sorc and @Sypher was some of the first players to beat it.Players who are Primarily PVP player were the first to beat it.

    Interesting perspective...

I guess we could also add that in PVP is where at lot of the competition in this game arise, therefore we might conclude that PVP players are more into getting/grinding BiS gear to gain an advantage agains't another player.

I still wish there was an another way to land those precious gear in a strict PVP environnement.
Doesn't have to be easy to get, just doable without grinding and grinding outside of PVP.

Yea, good PvPers have a relatively easy time in vMA because a lot of the things that matter in vMA--reflexes, situational awareness, target prioritization, resource management, self-sustainment--are things that solo PvPers are better at than the typical PvEer. Looking at the leaderboards, at the very top where people are competing for #1 scores, it's mostly hardcore PvEers, but just below that tier are a lot of PvPers.

vMA is very, very different from the typical endgame PvE content, and when a PvPer throws out the "I don't want to PvE for this" argument, I wonder if they've actually tried it and compared it to other PvE content.

You're not interpreting his post correctly.

There are 12 different weapons, available in 8 different traits each, for a pool of 96. To get a specific weapon with a specific trait, you have just a 1/96 chance even with a 100% drop rate.

He is saying that, even with the drop rate buffed to 100%, the chance of getting a desired weapon is still only 1%, and that's not good enough.

He is saying that, even with the drop rate buffed to 100%, the chance of getting a desired weapon is still only 1%, and that's not good enough.

The biggest problem is that they expanded the loot table from 3 traits to 8 traits, and most of the new traits are either very situational (you don't want Powered unless it's a resto), completely worthless (why in blazes is Charged even in the loot table?!), highly underperforming (e.g., Decisive and the now-nerfed-into-the-ground Nirnhoned), or doesn't make much sense on Maelstrom weapons (e.g., Infused, since the proc chance component is entirely irrelevant, and the buff component doesn't actually carry over in bar swaps--yes, that means an Infused bow on the back bar doesn't actually work).

The core problem is that @Wrobel botched the trait rebalance last patch. It was a chance to put all traits--or at least most traits--on equal footing with respect to viability. This did not happen. The ludicrous buff to Sharpened (which is now about over 2x as effective in most use cases), the heavy nerf to nirnhoned, and the lackluster changes to other traits (Decisive, Infused, and Charged are still largely worthless) meant that we actually got less trait diversity. It's now Sharpened-or-bust for DPS.

And when these concerns were brought up--repeatedly, I might add, including in a TeamSpeak meeting with ZOS--@Wrobel simply brushed them off and called Sharpened "situational". Really?! When Sharpened is hands-down the best trait by a mile in all but a few scenarios, that isn't what I'd call "situational". Frankly, I wouldn't have minded the diversity of all these traits being in the loot table if the trait revamp actually worked and if the mountains of feedback and math that players provided during that PTS cycle was actually heeded. But it wasn't, and now we're stuck in this lovely mess where we just have a ton of undesirable traits polluting the loot table.

@ZOS_RichLambert Were there any changes that would lower/increase the difficulty of the arena?

Just curious, as someone's posted that the arena was ninja nerfed on PTS :hushed:

I am wondering if the change to the minor slayer (affecting all mobs and bosses in trials/dungeons) is partly responsible for this seeming decrease in difficulty? A 5% increase in overall damage helps alot...

Overload's gonna get even more OP man..! Elegance + Moondancer + Kena + Dual Wield Torugs... Thats 30% increase in Overload light attacks against ANYTHING THAT MOVEs in a dungeon. Who said sorcs were bad ? I just need to get my Moondancer necklace and waist and my sorc will go Godmode for real.

vMA even 100% is still booring and gana die soon enough, we get the weapon what we want and? . .. . . its gana die

This is exactly why we are getting 100% drops. People were still farming ICP until DB and then they made the bosses drop sets all the time...notice something here..next dlc comes along and bang we get 100% drops. They obviously don't want us to keep playing old content for too long.
