You've got to hand it to ZOS, they made a calculated business decision - the product was deemed 'good enough' for crazed fanboys, so they shipped it and raked in the cash. They've probably made bundles in the first few hours, before people started noticing that they were sold something from TESIV: Oblivion. Its kind of a fitting metaphor for Zenimax's entire business strategy, really.

The cloths in GW2 may not have dynamic or 'real' physics but it's still sure as hell way better than anything ESO has in the Armour department. The cloth simulation and movement may not seem like a big deal but it really does make a big difference to me overall.

Moving your character side to side and seeing a dress or robe sway with you just adds that little bit extra to the armour design and hows how a lot of effort went into designing each piece. This is what kills me in ESO as they, again, could implement the 'cloth simulation' but don't as they would not gain any $$$ from it.

Another thing ZOS could take from GW2 is the fact that GW2 added a bunch of actual content throughout it's B2P life for free. All content ZOS had added since going B2P has been DLC

I was skeptical after reading this thread but honestly I'm in shock at what this outfit looks like on players in game. No other armor in the entire game looks so awkward and goofy. I can't believe that this made it to the crown store and priced at $20 none the less.

I didn't buy the costume myself, but I really, really hope that they revisit this and make some serious visual upgrades.

To be honest, if somebody offered me $20 to wear this in game for the next month I would decline. It really is that awful.

You haven't seen the Dragon Priest armor lately, have you? The thing looks like a badly-textured onesie.

Speaking of which, I've found leaked images of ZOS' next costume online:

(Moved from another thread to here per the mods comment on duplicate threads)

When I purchased this....it didn't look great but without the hat enabled, it's o k.....until I began moving and notice that the leg portion of the cape is designed like pants. With each step, the cape behaves as if it's sewed onto each leg.

Why in the world was it designed as such?
There are plenty of flowing outfits where the cape could not be drawn as legs

Explains nothing really. Capes dont cause lag. Theyre calculated by the game's client on your computer and have nothing to do with latency. They may (and would) cause lower FPS, however... how hard would it be to have an extra drop down menu in the gameplay settings:

    Capes:
    - visible
    - visible on player's character only
    - hidden

And then you could have a secondary menu where youd choose if the capes should be calculated with physics or use a pre-defined skeleton.

The capes they cause the lag?

Well maybe then khajiit she has a way of lessening the lag if clothing is a contributor yes.

Why not remove all the built in undiewears? Most of us choose to wear the clothes sometimes and thus the beautiful yet functional design of the built in undiewears is hidden.

So why not remove it all and let khajiit and elf alike choose how much they wish to outrage the public decency? Let that be free which wishes to be free from the unnatural constraints of the clothing.

Also reduce the lag at the same time yes? If making the torchbugs extinct in Cyrodiill is possible they why not also remove the lag pants?

To be fair to the big Z and its unfortunate employees, what are they going to say on the matter? "Sorry, we thought we could get away with selling you guys an ill-fitting costume with minecraft textures for 20 bucks."? Communication isn't their speciality at the best of times. Plus the PR department, admin, and the shareholders need to okay the statement first before accepting any liability etc. lol

Even if this is true, it still does explain the horrible decision to put something on a costume that looks like a cape but is pants.

They made a horrible looking costume. If they knew the game couldnt do it, make an awesome looking costume without a pape.

It's funny, but it's true! This costume is really that bad. I didn't even consider buying it, even though I wanted it so bad with my Elven Hero.

Oh I definitely agree! I just was trying to point out the distinction between them because the distinction is important - full on cloth physics is a much bigger undertaking than extra skeleton bones (which GW2 has). With that said, I do agree. I would like cloth physics, but would settle for skeletons for the cloaks. Not that it's my call, that's the dev team :p

Honestly, the fact that when mods lock other threads regarding this that they link those threads to this one is acknowledgement in my book.

No its not. Its damage control. You herd all complainers into one thread and its just a thread instead of a massive oucry overwhelming the forums. Then it eventually dies down and falls off the front page and the issue is gone.

And how would they know to herd them if they did not have a thread they know about to herd them into? Trust me, it's acknowledged.

Moderators arent devs. Mods saw the issue and contained it to be, most likely, ignored by the devs. Yeah, sure, maybe if barely anyone bought the costume theyll do something about the next ones that get made. That does not mean higher quality tho - most likely theyll just avoid the coat/cloak style in the future altogether.

They do work for the devs though, which means they are able to contact them. Also mods may very well report their actions to their "higher ups". Besides, this thread is 12 pages long and growing, how could the lurking devs NOT notice and acknowledge it lol

I have a feeling youre now arguing over the semantics of the word. What does 'acknowledgement' do for us here? Not much really. Even if a community manager posted a message saying: we're working on it, it still would mean very little as far as actually getting things fixed. Good examples of this being: bloated motifs, broken light attack weaving, misshapen female armor meshes.

Just because it isn't fixed yet doesn't mean it's ignored.

I was looking forward to the Breton costume for a -long- time. It was the only hero costume I was going to buy out of the three but .... when I saw it, I changed my mind.

It honestly looks like a cosplayer's attempt to be the 'Breton Hero'. The extra 'punch' in details just isn't there, so I saved my Crowns for now. :(
