I guess they first have to investigate the extend of the issue, before they can decide about a strategy to fix that - and this means not just working on it, but as well meeting and making decisions - and this can take time.

I'd hazard a guess it's the Pelinial's Aptitude set (or however it's spelled) which they couldn't enable until last minute almost in PTS and launched in Live without activating it properly so probably needs to be activated, tested, checked and enabled in game by emergency QA.

Of course it could all be conjecture.

What he wrote means that many bugs that appear Live does NOT appear in PTS, meaning they can NOT test it or even see it until it is LIVE. This because its way different to PTS! They can NOT create a PTS environment to simulate everything that happens on the Live servers! It is different hardwares, different settings, different environments, different stresses, physically different connections etc etc etc!

How was Toissaint? I planned to buy that today to give me something to do through the ESO maintenance, but for some reason I thought it was going to be £10 and hadn't put enough on my Steam wallet, and my husband has the credit card because he had to get a train fare out of town for work reasons and is on a late shift so not even back yet, so I didn't actually have the means to buy the dlc today - massive mess up on my part there!

I got as far as d/l'ing the patch and I about to start up, when I saw the message here about the maintenance...hope the "patch" patch doesn't take too long...

so, I looked at the store, and I guess no crown pack sale prices this time around, oh well...i'll just keep an eye for the future...

Oh, an ESO patch that wasn't implemented correctly, and now forcing me to wait even longer on the day I decide to return to the game... I guess my low expectations were still too high.

ZOS has launched DLC with some minor/major bugs before already and didn't need to urgently bring servers down for a fix...

I don't think it's anything minor like unbalanced items or stuff like that.

It must be some major, urgent issue that can (and will) compromise the whole game, community, server and economy if not tackled fast. The obvious guess are item duping exploits or things like that, but could be anything else like items disappearing or other very compromising issues that would completely break the game.

Taking down (and restarting) servers as big as these games' servers are is no small feat. They must have extremely good reasons to do so.

@Elloa have you ever thought of making ASMR videos? Your voice gives me tingles every time I watch on of your videos.

You should check out what it is and maybe make a second channel and do it, there is quite a large community of people that watch those type videos... Me being one of them.
