Actually different cultures do and have done this - to either refer to themselves or others in 3rd person, even if they are directly speaking to this person or about themselves. Japan is one such example, where this is considered to be more polite.

It's all about perspective really. I made a templar redguard who looks like an ancient African warrier - necklace and earrings made of fangs, beaded braided hair, ritualistic tattoos all over the face and scarred body. Still looking for a perfect armor motif though, she's wearing Imperial armor which is OK but not a perfect fit.
Not that I'm a roleplayer, but she's mad fun to play just from a concept perspective. She's like that evil force brought back to life, something out of ancient legends
