Well it's going to depend on how you play your sorcerer, but basically to sum it up:
- "Negate Magic" has some different morphs to heal allies or deal damage to enemies in its area of effect.
- If you summon clannfear or scamps, they're going to be a bit stronger now.
- If you hated the appearance of "Bound Armor" like me, you can rejoice! The horrid appearance is no more.
- "Conjured Ward", a shield spell, now only lasts for 6-8 seconds instead of its previous 20 seconds.
- The "Thundering Presence" morph of "Lightning Form" deals physical damage now instead of lightning damage and is now called "Hurricane".
The main issue people are having with this is the change to "Conjured Ward" which I've put in bold, as it will now last for half as long as it did before. Whether you see this as an issue or not is up to your playstyle.
My main issue is lack of changes to sustained DPS.
I didn't even think of that as I don't think this will change how I sustain DPS at all. It sounds like I play a weird kind of sorcerer.
Explain how you think Sorcs will be harder to kill?
@Rylana already answered. duration was never an issue in regards to PvP. the only aspect the changes to duration negatively effect is PvE.
Shield stacking for sorcs got buffed in a big way
... which is kind of a bummer for those of us who enjoy PvE more than PvP!
Lol at the people who reroll because a simple DURATION was decreased. If anything, the class is stronger with the changes to Harness Magicka. But eh, baddies will be baddies I suppose.
I... completely disagree.

yeah. if these changes go live sorcs won't be worth a damn in PvE. especially pet builds, pet builds will be destroyed buy the changes to ward duration.Lol at the people who reroll because a simple DURATION was decreased. the class loses it's individuality with the changes to shields in general. every class has hardened ward, so why play a sorc when you can play a nightblade?. seriously, they have better sustained DPS, they have hardened ward in the form of dampen, they have better resource management, they have better healing, more options with ults and an escape that doesn't have a stacking cost increase.
that's where we're at. it's more than just a simple change in duration

Ward doesn't affect DPS at all...most PvE players don't even use Ward outside of Maelstrom (I've heard some use it in the last boss of vMoL). I was talking about the fact that all of the classes except Sorcerer can go up to 40k and even further in a long fight, while a Sorc can sustain 40k or so for about 45 seconds. Outside of that you can sustain 30k (with Shooting Star)...so there's a huge disparity. If you're a serious PvE player doing things like vMoL it's pretty much impossible to both play a Sorcerer and be competitive.

Ah, I understand - I didn't think ward would alter DPS, I read your comment as sustain in terms of resource management for some reason which I haven't really had issues with unless I don't pay enough attention to what I'm doing.
In any case I haven't leveled my stamblade or magicka DK to vr16 yet so I can't really compare from experience on the DPS thing between classes, and I keep testing things out to pull better numbers so I always feel like a work-in-progress. I will have to get back to you on that kind of discussion I am really curious, all I have to go on right now is what numbers people on other classes tell me they can pull and I'd really like to see it for myself.
Every single Sorcerer stacking their shields in Tamriel, obviously it would get nerfed. You can't possibly think it was ever okay. If one nerf is enough to make you quit, then I feel sorry for you.
I don't think you understand what's actually happening here. Sorcerers have and will continue to have the lowest PvE DPS.
I don't think you understand, most of the best DPS in the game is an overload sorc.

My Main is a Magicka Sorcerer that runs a Pet build. I don't have even a single experience point in any of the wards, and I cruised through PvE. So much so that I hit VR16 before I hit the last zone of Cadwell's Gold (Reaper's March for me). BTW, I only ever PvE.
Pet builds will be just fine in PvE.
Maybe don't base your entire build validity off of the assumption that one Skill will remain forever unchanged?
Edit = Even without using any Wards at all, I solo'd every Quest, Delve, Public Dungeon, and World Boss in all three Alliances. With my Pet build. With no wards.
Maybe you should change your post to read: "Ward builds will be destroyed (yes, you can keep your melodrama...) if these changes go live!!!", because Pet builds will still be just fine in PvE.

The best people to talk to about the DPS of classes are people who raid competitively.

that's the easiest content in the game. i can solo it using nothing but dual wield light attacks on my mag builds. run vICP, vWGT and vMSA with your pet builds and tell me how long they last without wards.
My fault. should have specified end-game PvE content i guess.
Why the hell would we reroll, lololol
We just got stronger
Lower duration on shields means absolutely squat. If youre taking damage youre refreshing shields a lot faster than every six seconds already. Period, end of story. The rest is just feel good timers giving you the sense of security, a good sorc doesnt need 20 seconds of shields, hell you could reduce it to four and I wouldnt feel the slightest change here.
Magicka Harness (for magicka builds), and Bone Shield (for stamina builds) now absorb all damage types. This is nothing but a buff, and a huge one.
Added damage or heals to negate (damage numbers on par with dragonknight standard per testing) = LOVE
Pets got 5k more health (dont use em, but thats a buff, thats stronger)
Need more? lawl.

Sorc dps is still fine on a competitive level. It just comes down to the player as to what you can achieve.

You didn't miss anything. OP didn't really say much to begin with. Kinda silly start to a thread that could have started a decent conversation if it was actually started by a coherent thought concerning the PTS patch notes.
