There should always be a way to opt out of this kind of stuff, ZOS offers no way to do so...even if you hide the message once as soon as they change something in the store, its back...thats just ridiclious....

@RinaldoGandolphi Just want to be sure. You do understand this pop-up doesn't happen every time you log in right? Once you've closed it, you do not see it again until they change something in the crown store. So this is going to pop up.. what, once or twice a MONTH? It's not like Zos changes the crown store daily.

I understand it and I still think interstitials are rude. I don;t tolerate it on free websites by using ad blocker so why would I tolerate it in paid content?

I get that I have the choice of deal with it or leave the game - but before I leave the game for the 3rd time, I want to at least say something about it.

@Islyn I did mention previously that I also would agree with a box to opt out. Who knows, maybe Zos will add it as they did listen to the community when displeasure was shown about the in game server messages for the crown store. I can agree with you on that we will need to agree to disagree :) I'm fine with understanding that everyone has an opinion - and opinions are neither right, or wrong. (Including my own) <3

[EDIT] Oh, and those emails actually annoy me.... I get two because I did the PS4 transfer... but since I really only have 1 account.. I'm not sure if I "unsubscribe" to one.. if it will unsub my whole account from the email and then I'll get none. Haha.

Yes im aware, but it still lacks an "Opt-Out Option"

I should be able to go under settings and "Turn Off Crown Store Notifications" It should present me a screen telling me i will no longer see new and updated items, I hit OK and then i never see another Crown Store announcement.

An advertising mechanism without an opt out option is unconscionable in today's age..

this is a HUGE betrayal of trust by ZOS...they promised us they would never force Crown Store advertisements on us again...remember when they had that big text ad awhile back then they removed it and ZOS got on here and apologized and promised they wouldn't do it again,

We don’t plan on doing the in-game messaging anymore. That was, honestly, just to get the word out about the Senche-Leopard due to the very limited amount of time it was being offered. We heard our players loud and clear that they didn’t like the in-game messaging, so it’s gone the way of the dinosaurs. We’re working on better in-game messaging about limited-time offers and sales that aren’t as intrusive.

and now here we are..they are again doing the same thing, just using a different method of forced delivery with no way to opt out.

This is just downright wrong...the majority of the players in that poll said such forced on-screen advertising was unacceptable, the voice was loud and unanimous, players don't want ads forced down their throats...as a long time paying customer, its this kind of stuff right here that breaks customers trust.....Zenimax, you really need to add an opt-out option or remove it from the game until you can...no one should be forced to have an Ad crammed in their face at any juncture...not having an opt-out mechanism is simply unacceptable.

im all about you advertising the items in your Crown store so long as you provide a mechanism to opt out of those messages so a user no longer sees them if thats what the user wants.

This is kind of ridiculous. I can get that they want to convey to their playerbase that there are limited time items/new items for sale in the crown store. To those saying this is a great way to do it and isn't intrusive I would heartily disagree with you. Even with the stipulation that it only happens when they update the crown store this is the top of slippery slope. What are they going to do when they start spacing out new item releases bi monthly, and then bi weekly. What if they start rolling things out every other day in the beginning of a month?

Suddenly this new, unobtrusive, delivery method becomes a horrible pop up that you have to close every day you login and they get away with it because everyone said they were okay with it. The problem that I think people are missing is why are they having problems getting people into the crown store to begin with? They should be focusing on fixing that problem rather than manhandling this inelegant solution down peoples throats.

So many aspects of this game is very much of a "don't pay attention and you will suffer the consequences" attitude so why are we hand holding for this one very particular aspect? (besides the very obvious answer of money). I tolerate the pop up ads in free games because I'm not paying. I paid for this game, more than most because I wanted to support it, I'm an educated consumer and keep up to date with whats coming and when it is coming yet I have no way to say "no thanks on the bloody pop up, zos"

does not bode well for things to come.

Here we are with a better in-game messaging system that is not as intrusive?

Are you kidding me? How is replacing an in-game message annoucement with an in-your face pop ad you can't turn off and your forced to look at in any way "better and unobtrusive"?

Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your not a ZOS shill. Im not misrepresenting what they said, They didn't offer a better system, they forced one on you that you can't opt out of or shut off that in many ways is actually worse the old message notification they used before.

there is nothing better about this approach..its infact the same approach they used before just now they are using a forced pop up ad instead of a text announcement on your screen, its the same damn thing as before. Yes ZOS is breaking the trust of their customers...they promised us they would not give us forced ads or messages advertising Crown Store items that we can't shut off, this is the same thing as server annoucements, its just a more obnoxious pop up version you can't shut off.

As someone else in this thread alluded to, this don't bode well for things to come...things like this belong in F2P games, not in games with subs, premium membership, and B2P status that folks actually have to pay for the game to even play it...its ridiculous they don't have an opt out option for this, if they did i would then have no issues with it and would agree its a better solution, but as long as it has no way to opt out, its not and ZOS has went back on their word they said they wouldn't do this type of stuff in an invasive manner.

ZOS put an opt-out option in the game, thats all you have to do if you do that its fine, don't force your paying customers to look at ads with an invasive pop up on their screen, give your customers the opportunity to opt-out...its the right thing to do.

I logged into the game at lunch time, saw the pop up. Logged onto a another character, did not see the pop up. Quit the game, then logged on again, did not see the pop up.

Compared to the alternatives about getting out the messages about the Crown Store, this is nothing.

Now, why they were showcasing Exp Potions I do not understand. I did not look at the other 3 items on the show case.

Really? You're actually trying to claim that a one-time pop-up on login that you can instantly get rid of with one click isn't better and less obtrusive than having big yellow letters pop up right in the middle of your screen over and over multiple times while you're in the middle of playing the game, along with a sound to announce them, and with no way to exit out of them? We don’t plan on doing the in-game messaging anymore. That was, honestly, just to get the word out about the Senche-Leopard due to the very limited amount of time it was being offered. We heard our players loud and clear that they didn’t like the in-game messaging, so it’s gone the way of the dinosaurs. We’re working on better in-game messaging about limited-time offers and sales that aren’t as intrusive.
And now here we are, with better in-game messaging about limited-time offers and sales that aren't as intrusive.

*Note: I said saying and said way too many times there. That was ridiculous of me, and I apologize in advance to anyone who reads what I said.

Here we are with a better in-game messaging system that is not as intrusive?

Are you kidding me? How is replacing an in-game message annoucement with an in-your face pop ad you can't turn off and your forced to look at in any way "better and unobtrusive"?
I call ***.

    Your missing the point!

There should be an opt-out. I should have the option of turning them off permanently if i don't want to see them, I should never be forced to see it.

Can i make this anymore clear to you? Where is my option to opt-out?

Regardless, this discussion has outlived its usefulness. Its obvious you don't see repercussions of this....just wait till they start changing the Crown store twice a week...suddenly instead of it being a once a month thing its a multiple time per week thing...and that will be coming next.

These types of Ads don't belong in anything short of a F2P game...any game with a sub or folks buying the game to play have the expectation to not be hounded with in-game advertisements all the time....but whatever...i have said my part......the lack of an opt-out option is unacceptable....just give it a few months, you will see what i was talking about.

    Good day

The Drama Queens in this thread need to seriously take a Midol.

in my OP I said calmly, NO to popups in a paid game.

    Just no.

Not FREAKED OUT AND LOST IT near at all as much as everyone else is acting like a popup is the best thing since gravity.

Just agree to disagree and calm down.

It is a big issue to me that they even think this is OK - but there is no need for all the DRAAAAAMMAAAA! :)

Oh yeah, and more agrees on my post than on any of yours so there you go.

Because the thousands of other people who didn't care about the popup saw the whining in the title and decided not to click on it in the first place.
So of course you're going to get a majority of the agrees, which means nothing.
