It's a one time thing when the Crown Store is updated. It's not so terrible.
It's a one time thing when the Crown Store is updated. It's not so terrible.
How do you it's a one time thing?
I've never seen it before, so.
Also, a text chat message 'Crown Store Updated' is sufficient.
Not a pop-up ad. Just no on that.
Also, if people like you start saying it's OK, it's just gonna creep in more and more.
I am saying no, right now.

General
The Crown Store will now be able to display Limited Time Offers.
Announcements for featured Crown Store items will now display upon login, and will only reappear when the featured section has changed if the prompt is dismissed.
Note: These will only appear once per account, not each time you log into a new character.

I strongly disagree with you. This is the best way to make sure people are aware of new offerings without being overly intrusive, and it's neither crude nor tacky. Having notices on the forums doesn't work because most people don't come to the forums, and even the ones who do frequently miss notices here. Having notices on the launcher doesn't work because a lot of people don't even use the launcher except when they need patches, and of the people who do use the launcher, people don't usually pay any attention to what shows up there. Having a system notification pop up while you're in the middle of playing (as they tried that one time) doesn't work because it only helps if you happen to be online at the time the notification comes up, so they have to do it multiple times in order to catch as many people as possible, and that's annoying as hell for people who are online and playing.Fair enough I didn't read the patch notes - but I still strongly disagree with this and dislike it utterly.
It was offering me XP scrolls (I didn't look at the rest) and said nothing about check out new crown store.
I do not care why or how often because one pop-up window in a game I already pay for is too many.
There are plenty of other ways to do this that are not this crude and tacky.

A one-time pop-up on login when things have changed is the best way to keep people from whining that they didn't know something was available and they missed it (and there has been a lot of that), while still being totally reasonable and not annoying.
I'm sorry, but I find your position on this to be 100% unreasonable.
I can agree with this. I think they still need/want to advertise to subscribers (afterall they need to spend those crowns on something), but the option should be available to disable the ads. That being said, I think if you are a subscriber to ESO+ you should have the option to turn off the popup.

It's an infrequent reminder of crown store changes. Best instance I remember seeing this was in a video when someone was on pts, loaded in and saw the goat in the crown store. That is what it's for, text banners that fade or text in chat are easy to miss. If you want an example of excessive ads you should look at planet side 2 a long while ago...
I'd much prefer this instead of pop-ups IN-GAME... this is a much better method of advertisement.

Except you know that if there was an option to turn it off people would turn it off and then complain about missing stuff... Even if they clicked a box saying "I agree not to whine about missing stuff due to turning off this notification" it would still happen. It's an infrequent reminder of crown store changes. Ahaha, yeah. That was meI was genuinely excited, surprised, and glad they showed that pop-up. As mentioned previously in this thread, I wouldn't have known about the pet otherwise.

I could agree with this. To be honest I would even agree with EVERYONE being able to turn it off if they so choose. Although, they would need to swear they will never complain of missing a limited time item.. EVER.

There should always be a way to opt out of this kind of stuff, ZOS offers no way to do so...even if you hide the message once as soon as they change something in the store, its back...thats just ridiclious....

@RinaldoGandolphi Just want to be sure. You do understand this pop-up doesn't happen every time you log in right? Once you've closed it, you do not see it again until they change something in the crown store. So this is going to pop up.. what, once or twice a MONTH? It's not like Zos changes the crown store daily.
Agreed.we're gonna have to agree to disagree.
