It is solo player friendly. It's not solo exclusive. The boss you're talking about is a GROUP boss. Let those be challenging.

At the very least, they should put in a note - in a place where it is clearly visible, not in small print at the bottom of a page - that the MAIN QUEST of the DLC - the questline you HAVE to complete to get the achievment for the whole zone - contains bosses that a large number of players will HAVE to group up for, at a fairly early stage in the storyline.

This is true of Craglorn for most players as well and it didn't need to have a footnote describing it.
Containing a Solo instance does not mean it is a solo exclusive DLC. You're probably the only player I've seen who inferred that.

Craglorn was specifically for groups. The fact that people can solo large parts now is not relevant.
IC came out and ZoS said they were giving PvP some love, and "if PvP isn't for you then just wait for Orsinium".
The expansions have been Craglorn for group PvE, IC for PvP... and soon Orsinium for solo PvE.
I have to agree that I am surprised that the main quest contains a group boss.
Indeed, from everything I've read about Orsinium, I'm very surprised that anyone would infer that the main quest required a group, because that is not solo friendly.

I would like to thank the player base of this game for helping me and giving me insight on how and what should be acceptable in a game and it is obvious that this is yet another DLC that is not going to sell so well once the facts get out. I'm sure that more ugliness is under the surface waiting to rear its ugly head.

@ZOS_GinaBruno
In perhaps 12-13 tries, the closest I got to killing him was getting him to about 5% health. The other times I was lucky to get him to 50%. That's quite beyond "difficult but soloable" in my book.

I used my character copied from live - v15, all armour and weapons purple quality, a mix of v14 and v15. On the low side wrt to Champion points - about 80-85. The kind of character a typical casual player might have - made more for fun than for FoTM and Min-Maxing.
My suggestion: Remove the constant spamming of adds by the boss - the two initial ice archers are enough. That would also remove the constant small red rings, but keep the big AoE. Perhaps give King Kurog a buff as well.

If you want hard content, just use a character that is less optimally built. Having main quest content that can only be completed by specific builds is bad business

It's not Ibomez the Flesh Sculptor. It's a solo storyline quest boss. If anything in the game should be friendly to the weird, fun, but utterly non-optimized builds that casual players come up, it is solo storyline content. I don't want them balancing solo storyline content around theorycrafted builds.

No-one's asking to make it easy, just to make it non-impossible.

I really, really doubt it's as hard as you're making it out to seem.
Do you have any self healing / shields?
Yes. And this game has something called cooldowns. Meaning you can''t self-heal fast enough to cover the damage the boss does.
