Look at the base game. I mean, look at the base game. This is what you get for $70:
-3 factions x 4 areas each = 12 playable areas. HUGE areas. Days to play each.
-1 PvP area that's so freaking huge, you could spend months in it. MONTHS!
-8 slots for characters.
-Weapons, armor, buffs all in the game. Sure, they're leveled, but what game isn't? You don't have to buy a thing to get them, unlike other games. You don't have to grind for them. After you get them, you don't have to grind to improve them.
-So many emotes that make the game fun.
-Chat, both world and guild.
All this and more for $70 and you're bitching about prices in the Crown Store because ZoS/Bethesda:
-Didn't break each of these areas into purchasable DLC. Hey, maybe you'll feel better of paying $40 just to play a few more planets in that other game? Or I know! Pay $30 for DLC so you can play the same areas all over again.
-Doesn't require you to purchase a thing.
-Gives people, like me, options so that an $8 cat makes the character more "ours".
-DOESN'T REQUIRE YOU TO PAY A MONTHLY FEE.
If you don't like the pricing, go play Destiny. Maybe then you'll get a realistic idea of what "overcharge" really is.

Here we go with this misplaced use of the word "entitlement". They're introducing new features to the game THAT I PAID FOR. Obviously I want to be a part of that. I DON'T CARE if they're required or not. Spending time creating new updates for the game then overcharging for them is shady business. I wouldn't pay even if I had the extra money. $24.99 for a damn cosmetic mount, are you kidding me? For that price, the horse should be about 3 or 4 times faster than the base game horse and able to open portals to oblivion to teleport directly to Wayshrines.

I fully appreciate arguing this out on a dev site, where most people love the game more than most is akin to pissing in the wind. I don't expect many people to see the forest for the trees.

I took it from your post you're not a subscriber, because if you were, the crowns you would have gotten would make all of your post moot. This is where I feel your statement is entitled.Obviously I want to be a part of that. The issue I see here is that: "It's a virtual item that's too costly!" rather than "Oh, I see, since they didn't make the game require a subscription, they need to sell this stuff."
As you said: IT'S COSMETIC and has no bearing on the game. You can buy any mount and receive pets in the game (and you can also get polymorphs like the skeleton), yet YOU want the BETTER looking virtual stuff.
If this isn't the definition of entitled, then by all means, come up with a different term that fits.
Oh, I know! CHEAPSKATE.
If you can't see the prices are high to help offset the cost of the millions who don't subscribe, then there's no convincing you the statements you're making are utter nonsense.
For the record, in case you want to know:
-I don't subscribe.
-I bought 1 horse, senche lioness, clouded lioness, and both cats.
If ZoS adds another virtual item that pleases me and makes my character cool, I'll buy it because I'm not buying the virtual item. I'm supporting the game.
How does one even begin to put a price on that.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything.I already admitted that it's probably not going to change, but you're never going to convince me or anyone with common sense that such a price is reasonable.

The millions who didn't subscribe still had to buy the game. They don't need to offset jack. DCUO survives just fine with "almost" decent prices (usually) and that's an actual Free to Play MMO with optional subscription just like ESO. They can have micro transactions at reasonable prices, $25 for a cosmetic horse is not reasonable. Of course fanboyism would prevent you from seeing that. No one here actually thinks that's reasonable, they give in because they want it bad enough. I already admitted that it's probably not going to change, but you're never going to convince me or anyone with common sense that such a price is reasonable.

Same goes for the costume bundles, why can't I just buy the individual items I want? There are a few good ones I like, but I'm not going buy a costume pack with two ugly outfits and one good one. Then 750 crowns costs $8.00, they don't even give you the full 800 crowns. And what can I do with that? Oh I can buy a virtual cat, I'm paying $8 for a virtual ass cat. Then the largest crown package costs half the price of the game, what sense does that make? Where the hell do they get these figures for value? All this crap should be between 1.99-4.99 like any normal cosmetic DLC. This is utterly and absolutely ridiculous. Get rid of the bundles and stop overcharging like this was free to play, it wasn't. You should've thought about that before you had GameStop stock their shelves with a $60 price tag.
You don't need to pay to play the game? No subscription required, and if your talking about plsystation plus, you would have got that anyway for other games.... I do agree with the crowns being overpriced, and also their fly tactics with the DLC " hey it's only 2,500 crowns but wait, you got to pay for the 3,000 pack if you don't have your enitial 500 crowns from launch"
I had to pay to get it so I had to pay to play it. We didn't sign up and get free copies in the mail.
RinneganDovahkiin wrote: »
Come on now, really? Obviously you had to pay a one off price for your copy of the game, what where you expecting it to be free?
Yes. That's the literal definition of a truly free to play MMO, Zenimax just decided to be stingy with their game.
This is too funny. I think this thread has gone long enough to notice that we cannot convince the OP to consider the other side's argument. It's either his way of thinking or nothing at all.
OP, what you don't consider to realise is that mostly everyone is against your argument for the many reason they brought up - which you insistently denies or overlook. When people say it's right price, you ignore it and come up with many other reasons - to which btw was invalidated either by examples and objective POV.
All you do is lay out conjectures. For someone going to school for coding, you pretty much have a narrow view of how things should be. Go out more, make more friends and maybe, just maybe you'll understand where the other side is coming from.
But then again, you're going to quote this and do the same thing like you've done before, ignore all the valid counterarguments, sensationalise you're idea to look probable but with lack of any evidence, fall flat.
Bye Felicia.

Welcome to socialism, my friend! No, really though, this is exactly how socialist-inspired games work. All the subscribers have to compensate for the free to play players that don't buy anything in the store. In business (talking as a business student) they have a statistical idea of how many free to play players need to buy stuff in the crown store (including DLC) in order to make F2P profitable (due to their occupied space on server and whatnot). When it doesn't work out like they planned, the F2P players don't suffer, THE SUBSCRIBERS DO

I've mostly ignored you because you haven't presented any arguments. All you've done is tell me that I'm ignoring people's responses when I've responded to good number of them. I don't care if you didn't like my responses. Mostly everyone here disagrees with me because they're MMO fans and are used to being taken advantage of like this. $25 for a cosmetic item is ridiculous, that's all there is to it. They have no reason to be charging that much, the game was buy to play like every other game. Not to mention the people who are subscribed. I didn't say they had to remove them, I said they should cost less and they should. If you want this thread to end, then stop replying me because there's no way in hell I'm ever going to agree that $25 for a cosmetic horse is understandable. I filled in that bracket multiple times. There's nothing reasonable about me paying $25 for a cosmetic horse. That's the price of most DLC BUNDLES on PSN. That isn't reasonable.
