Farm outside Sewer Doors

SeventhCelestial
ZoS,

Players are making it impossible to enter and play the DLC by setting up farms outside the entrances using Caltrops and making it impossible to enjoy the DLC. If they want to Gank me and have fun then they can do it in the Sewers. Not Outside of it.

Odds are these are griefers who can't or won't spend the money to buy the IC dlc, so they ganks others to prevent they from playing IC. I can't think of any other reason to attack people entering the sewers.

My friends have been among these numbers and have since converted to Imperial City dungeon crawlers. They all cited not liking Imperial City as their reason for ganking (until they entered Imperial City and liked it).

Wait let me get this straight, you are genuinely asking ZOS to stop players killing other players in a designated PvP zone?

The gankers aren't breaking any rules of course. It all comes down to the intent. Under the current rules, it's clear that sewer door ganking is endorsed and possibly encouraged by ZOS as it's quite easy to set up.

What the OP is suggesting is not that ZOS start banning players for this behaviour or asking them nicely to stop but perhaps to not design the entranceway to be a ganker's paradise to start with. Have a small safe zone around the door. If I can make it to the door, I should be in the clear. Having to clear every hostile in the area just to get inside is a bit tiresome after a while. You might have that one sorc that comes in, pokes you then bolts off again, just to come back and hit you again just as you're coming out of combat. Yes there are ways around that of course, but the point is that under the current rules, ganking the sewer entrance is a legitimate pvp strategy and I wonder if ZOS is ok with that.

Well personally I hope they are ok with it, I haven't taken part in door ganking as of yet but it is a legitimate strategy to help your alliance inside and is no different from people camping quest hubs or ganking reinforcements in keep battles

ZoS designed those entrances to be campable, and there is literally nothing wrong with people doing exactly what ZoS has designed the entrances to do. I still remember there being an old interview on the design of the Imperial City many months ago about how they (ZoS) designed the entrances to be "Hotspots for PvP battles".

I think it's working as intended

You did after all willing step foot into an active warzone, with the Daedra-infested City being what the whole war is being fought over. Expect enemy combatants. Only a fool will expect otherwise.

This is pretty much what I was trying to get at in short. I love ganking, but I wonder if its ZoS Intent for it to be this tiresome to get to the DLC content.

My group has left the sewers a few times to kill those griefing at the entrance, and clear the path for other faction members to enter, did turn into a couple of good fights as other faction members joined in, as they were getting to the entrance. I am sure that's the best you can hope for in this case.

No it's not enough. That's the problem with this game. Elitist attitudes like that. People paid for this. They shouldn't have to try to get in. That doesn't make sense at all. If it was free then sure. But "pvpers" that are doing that to spoil others fun then that's messed up.

Some of us have pvpied since launch and we have enough experience to get by it. But imagine way back when you were new to pvp and someone was preventing you from leaving your home base and you couldn't explore pvp even though you were paying.

That is a great business strategy. Just like the rest of thier decisions. I am starting to think that the reason why all these nerfs have happened to everyone except to nb's is that Zos all play nb's. And they are the ones camping these sewer entrances.

If you cannot 'explore' PvP because you are new, then you will have to go down the same road as every other player and get better. I don't see how this is related to either elitism or the tinfoil hat material that fills up the rest of your post.

Umm. Let's see. You calling the pve'rs babies. You are speaking down to them. Therefore you think you are better than them.

And for the record I am a pvper. It is not right for people to pay for something and not be able to do it because some people get off on that.

But we paid for all of cyrodiil. Could you imagine if it was like this? You had to go through one bottle neck to actually get there?

You see it all the time. Look at people's reaction when they are being gate camped. And you can certainly sneak by that. If there is a group at that entrance with caltrops you are not getting in without getting a group to wipe them.

    That doesn't make any sense.

I call them babies because it's PvE players who cry about having paid for content that they think they cannot play because of PvP players. If you buy a PvP centered piece of content only to lament the fact that you cannot enjoy said content without having to play PvP, i think 'baby' is a rather friendly term to use.

The gankers aren't the issue for me.

The real issue for me is the 4 loading screens, horse ride, and a queue it takes to get to the imperial city.

Is accessing from the sewers so important we can't just get a direct access queue from the campaign screen?

Bah, thought I'd get a mention, as I did this day 1 of IC release and for several days straight after. Only a week later did others start to catch on, then I just left and went inside IC.

Bring buddies, fight your way in. WAH mean gankers won't let me go in. That is extremely pathetic on so many levels. You walk there solo and oblivious, you deserve it. Form a grp and force your way, or GASP use other entrance. jeeez.

As for a pvp hotspot, it was GREAT! I had constant 1vX and small grp battling around there, for days straight. Was very very fun!

To clear up a few things since this got more attention than expected:

One I've been around since last year so yeah I know the pain. This is legit the first time I've been this bothered by a strange choice of mechanic to actually complain about it.

I love the PvP it brings around the entrance. I welcome that.

I don't like the fact that my crew is already in the sewers cleaning house having a blast, knowing I'm a capable player enough to get in alone to find that caltrops are used in the entrance way to force you out of stealth, with or without cloak, and get demolished by the 5+ players waiting.

After three different attempts my group has to abandon what they are doing, leave the sewers be auto ported back to base which is ridiculous, have to load screen again then ride back, just to help one mate get in the content. God I love my guild and the fact that they would do that but not everyone is so lucky and not everyone has the time or talent to play like an elite to manage though a couple Caltrops and five gankers looking for easy AP cause they already have the entire map and didn't pony up the coin to join the sewer action.

Unfortunately the only way I see it being "fixed" is if caltrops is nerfed somehow and another nerf will tick everyone off by this point, and as one of those players the last thing I want. ZoS has to take these comments and figure out how to balance the PvE and PvP content together so unfair situations that have only one option to fix (i.e. Getting a angry group to wipe them) it.

Other than that YES it's an AMAZING hotspot, the risk or derping right in without caution will have its risk.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out on console.

I can say one thing for sure: If you are going to camp out at an entrance when I am going to be entering then I hope you know what you're doing because I will have some friends with me and we aren't easy to kill :)

It is what it is. If you designate a safe area outside then they will just be on the inside, it won't end.

It's pretty simple: Kill them and walk in!

If indeed those gankers are people who do not have the dlc, well their loss because if the farmers cant get there, prices of mats and new v16 gear will remain high and good pvper who get passed them will soon out gear them therefore taking them out easily.
