Personally, I want new content. Dlcs, arenas etc.
All these threats of going to the cash shop dcuo or the cutesy monthly charged snooze fest of ff online are probably having the opposite effect.
ESO is better than dcuo in terms of quality, story, writing , community etc and its not a pay to winavaganza.
Ff online charges its players by the month for the same game. Over and over. Plus ESO is at least as good and by most accounts better.
Varicite it's not worth your breaLocked, but you can still vote, lol: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/184987/regarding-communication-options-on-console
I suggest if you haven't voiced your vote on this thread to click and do so.
Even though it's locked it still takes votes.
Quite the difference there eh ?

Still able to vote on it and look at the results.
They locked this thread so they would not have a poll showing 90+% disagrees with them.

We're dying out here on console. Every last person i know is growing increasingly frustrated by the minute.
MY last console MMO experience-DCUO, and every other MMO experience i've played over the last 15 years i could run group content ALL DAY LONG by joining PUGs through text. .... BUT NOT ESO. Instead we sit around all day long pulling out our teeth trying to network amongst 5 different guilds, shouting in common areas amongst the nonsense or sitting in a group finder Q for hours only to join a completely dysfunctional group.
THIS IS MADNESS ZOS!!!!! MADNESS!!!
You have taken the one reason 99% of people who play a mmo want to do--run group content-- and made it a virtual impossibility.
Just go onto DCUO on Ps4... where NoONE ever uses their group finder b/c there is a LFG text channel with 1000s of invites being sent out every hour for every single instance in the game with FUNCTIONAL premade groups.
AND IT ISNT HARD WITH A GAMEPAD. for those who don't know it goes like this:
"Need DPS for CoA' (city of ash)
"DPS for CoA"
or
"BLah for sale, shout for invite"
"invite"
......shorthand. its not complicated and it has worked on every other mmo on console without a second thought.
STOP making excuses. Text makes EVERYTHING in a MMO work. Without it we are absolutely handicapped and endlessly discouraged.
THIS IS NONSENSE. You are killing what could be the biggest game on next gen before it even hits 2 months.
People are already bailing. Everyone i know that was having a blast up to Vet 1 has stopped playing as much. As soon as they realized they couldnt Queue into vet dungeons with random idiots instead of actually forming REAL MMO PUGS... they have nothing to do.
EVen if you have 5 big guilds its still a pain and a joke when there are 10000s of people in the same situation out there somewhere screaming into the darkness.
I'm exhausted. I would have spent 100s of dollars on this game over the next few years, but i don't think i can even make it to the first DLC with this insanity.

Every game that has a Chat box has the ability to hide it... This just tells me you are not a MMO gamer and only used to single player console games... Which is the problem... New people to this actually don't know whats good for them or what they are missing out on.
Or maybe you are new to console and have no idea that almost every console game that supports multiplayer does so with voice chat only.
Yeah, this guy is one hundred percent correct.
I say call a poll of actual players at the boot screen of ESO.
No biased forum polls skewed and conducted by one side or the other.
I say cater to the actual gamers playing the game.
So many people have claimed they left the game over this matter, I think that means zos should cater to the players actually playing the game, as in the 99 percent of players who didn't even notice the text box status because most people don't want a DMV vision test from across their living room every time some gold farmer wants to move some product.
The text for ESO was enlarged for consoles. The tiny PC text was fine right next to the PC player.
The text box on console would likely end up having to be enlarged about 40 percent from PC as well.
What is that going to look like?

Your lack of mmo experience is once again telling. 1st things first YOU didn't notice it missing cos YOU haven't played an mmo before don't use hyperbole as evidence how did u manage to survey 99 percent of players? You are probably the biggest poster in this thread yet probably are among the least experienced . Do you know what a raid is? Here's a pro tip it's not the cops kicking your door in. Ever been in a guild when 50 are on all wanting to run stuff? Ever been in a chat with Even 10 nvm 30 people trying to speak at once about different subjects ? How is your progress now are you past 50 yet? Are you aware of what's waiting in craglorn or how ridiculously stupid it's going to be trying to get it done?
Barheiny answered you about how it'd look but seeing as your pleading ignorance I'll remind you that my old comrade symonator even went to the trouble of making a video on dcuo to post in this thread I'm sure you'll have seen it. Don't mention destiny as raids . I loved v.o.g in that game nice mechanics and such but no holy trinity make it an extended Co op level by comparison . No tank no healers etc. The problem all you new mmo players are gonna have is when you reach that level and can't even get a group together. I don't mean a puglife random setup I mean a properly formed group with a great chance of success. Raid failing sucks big time. It's the one thing I would never use group finder in any game for. I've got an officer smashed this game till vr 9 guess what now though? He's not playing cos he can't get anything done . He's waiting for us to catch up if we stick it out and we'll do it just like old times in another mmo .
I've got a guild of over 60 . I know around 12 - 20 from previously but the rest are just names on a roster cos for whatever reason they ain't using guild v.c and it's a common thing in these games. Until it's added the guild stagnates or straight up dies when we get pissed off with it . If people aren't comfortable chatting I'm not gonna try n force them. Gaming should be fun after all. Perhaps in the same way guys are currently being frozen out because they either can't or won't use mics for whatever reason but I'll say one thing , the guy that never mics up cos he has constant background noise but is always listening and responding In text gets my respect and I've known plenty over the years like that. Actually I play swtor, defiance etc. I just carve away a group and get stuff done.
How many people do you need for a vet dungeon? 4?
You are in a guild of 50 or more and you can't pull four bros to run it?
Maybe its not voice chat.
Also try running a healer. Everyone wants to DPS. So if you run a healer maybe you'll get invited to the shin dig.
I've got a core group of guys and many other players who will run em when we want to get our faces melted, lol.
The people in voice chat when you are on are likely playing at the same time regularly. The voice chat has a nice way of grouping British night owls with Yankee after workers.
And PS. Try to be less condescending. Playing ultima online doesn't make you good at anything but being old, take it from a. BBS player. Skeet doop. Scrunchh scrunch beep. Oh dial up how I've missed you.

Umm I use a bluetooth keyboard with my PS4 just fine, wireless doesnt use up the USB ports, there are also the mini keyboards that attach to your contollers, or you can just use the virtual keyboard thats built into the PS4.
I got VR12 about a week ago & now have hit a brickwall after the Cadwell's gold questline ... Mainly because its next to impossible to get a group for dungeons or the Craglorn quests (which I would love to do), so I am stuck doing PvP or solo quests in Cyrodiil which gets old fairly quick when that's all that's left to do.
Over half of my "friends" from ESO have moved on to other games or just stopped logging into thier PS4 altogether, 2 of the 5 guilds I am in has folded already, one of the being a 500 person trade guild.
Without text chat & a crappy-arse broken groupfinder, ESO on the console is dieing & quickly ... there is no community which keeps a MMORPG going, no real way to find new guilds (other than having some random spam invite you), trading is impossible unless you spam in voice chat in towns, etc...
I have been making this agruement since we where told just before console beta that they removed text chat, & I can still not understand why anyone would be against having text chat ALONG WITH voice chat. Both are needed in console version period.
The console version has been out for less than 6 weeks & they have already slashed the price of the game by a 3rd. I guess when things get bad enough for ESO on the console to go completely free to play, then maybe ZOS will start listening to whatever customers they have left.

Multiplayer <> MMORPG. Text chat in Killzone or any other FPS? Yeah...no.
FF:ARR and DCUO? Well...it's kinda there by default.
I'm not really sure where games like Destiny fit...but they seem more voice chatty to me for some reason.
The problem with catering to the actual players, is that you lose any perspective around who is leaving and what would keep them engaged.
Pro-text chat guy: Hey ZOS, you know you could expand your player base if you added text chat like those other MMORPGS?
ZOS: Nah, too much like hard work. We'll just cater to the existing player base....who cares about the players who leave or those who want to play but just get put off by the lack of text chat. We don't need their stinking money anyway.
Existing player base? The Existing Player base is asking for this, the rest are casuals. The Vast majority won't reach Veteran Rank 14.
Read your last sentence. The vast majority won't reach vet 14, when text chat actually becomes helpful.
The vast majority are the casuals who will never need text, won't bother with purchasing a keyboard and sacrificing one of the two usbs on a ps4.
There's only two usbs!
One for controller. One for turtle beach thingy.
The developers may be more pragmatic than you give them credit for.
I'm casual and I will buy the next dlc. And the one after that.
No keyboard, cause I'm all about that ( casual customer) base.

Give me an option so I dont' have to see all that annoying text scrolling across my screen and I'm in.
