While we're on the subject, what I find odd is that the male character body model is poorly done compared to female.

My GF and I joke that the male designer/modeler was afraid of spending too much time on the male model because he would "feel gay" -- end result is that the male character model is basically missing lower body (legs and hips, etc.).

I put medium levels for those on one of my mains and he's basically behind-less.

The female one is much more realistically proportioned.

I'm a male player, but I tend to create my caster/mage types as female.

I noticed they do get a lot more random guild and group invites than my male characters :D

I would like someone to take aaalllll the gender threads from Ultima Online until now and put them together in a video with the Benny Hill theme music. That would make me very happy. Someone with more energy get on that.

MMOs have a large female membership on PCs... A few years ago it was determined that like 60+% of guild leaders were women now in the MMO space.

There are still creepers out there in MMO land, but I had friends that were worried about VOIP in the EQ1 days and they and their daughters are pretty much... "yeah whatever" now and are on Vent or Temaspeak 90% of their online time doing guild stuff.. they still get some crap playing shooters, but in MMO land people are generally more interested in if they have l33t sword of uberness_003 and know the raid steps top "Evil hat guy" than anything else.

Consoles are still pretty creepy. I have friends that still have problems and feel the need to have super generic gamer tags and never talk in party/game chat unless they know everyone there.

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Really bizarre that people do stuff like that. Do they go to malls and do that, too. Weirdos. Why can't a player be a player, regardless of gender.

I'm male and I play both male or female, I have 4 male characters and 4 female characters. I just like to play as who ever I feel like. Sometimes its a male and then other times I will focus on a female character. I do tend to play female more, and that's because I like the idea of a female heroine and her just being all bad ass and kicking butt, instead of being the person who needs saving most of the time.

Wow it took until LOTRO? It never really surprised me, I was a cop so I know what creepers guys can be. We had quite a few females playing males in SWG.

ha wow I've heard guys say they play females for that reason but never thought I would hear a woman say that in reverse. :)

Ah, that's still overgeneralizing it. Plenty of people like me out there (at least I hope there are) that treat it like writing a character, and can create opposite gender characters and play/rp them realistically as a person, not a thing.
True but I was referring to the boys that will max out the boobs and butt, make unrealistic proportions to the characters body then wear little to no armor/clothing.
I'm in a similar category to you as I'll create any race in either gender as an actual person but I don't really get into the roleplay thing...I just create a character as if they were real in the world they live in.

I didn't venture into online gaming really actively until then and was the first game and guild I really got into grouping. Playing solo games or playing along on my own basically.

It still doesn't occur to me even now to ask "are you male or female", just play along with whatever they are rolling until I'm told different or hear different lol

There are tons of women in gaming this day and age, many just don't advertise it as they get harassed and sometimes even stalked. Me and my (now) wife met in lord of the rings online years ago. And our kin (guild) was about 50/50 male to female ratio and I've seen (heard on TS) many women in ESO aswell.
Anyway why does it matter whether a person's reproductive organs are on the inside or outside.. We are all players and come here to relax and enjoy the game. Gender plays very little role in that.

I bought a console for the first time to try ESO out on it. I completely agree how a woman might feel like an exotic zoo animal because that's how I've felt so far playing this game on the xbox. I am probably going to continue making PC my main playing experience just because women are very common and I can feel fully part of the community here, but I'm not convinced as a woman I will be accepted on the xbox.
