It does need to be closed. This has turned into a silly circle jerk, much like most of the threads on this forum. ZOS is well aware of the fact that many console players are having a tough time communicating and are undoubtedly looking at multiple options to assist with that.0 -

There is truth in this.
Each argument has been stated over and over and over again. Now, I personally will repeat my request that text chat be added in each thread that brings it up (I feel we must keep it relevant so ZOS fully understands the desire to have it in game); but arguing about why a person feels the way they do is solving nothing, no one is convincing the other side of their points.
So, I am for text chat, for the reasons that have been stated in countless places; that is all we a supporters should do. Stop arguing with the anti-text chat people and just support your opinion. I believe we have the numbers and the rational choice on this, so why not let those speak for us.Crusader of The Knights of the Alessian Order

I can understand this logic. Also, some people are more shy with their vocals than with text. Some in guilds won't talk on voice chat but they'll listen and type in chat. This could be for lots of reasons. Shyness, ambiguity etc. Beyond all these things though I'm always in favor of more options in all situations!1 -

Yea i agree..for me simple things likes asking guild mates if they wanna do some thing, or seeing what there up to when many are in group chats..not just for dungeons and ppv but just out questing...you have to TYPE a mail each time you wanna get some ones attention...when guild text window is opne line.."hey anyone wanna do x dungeon"Edited by Siniztor on June 16, 2015 8:24PM0 -

I think you fell down and landed on your head one too many times. What PC folks are arguing against you having text chat on console? I haven't seen any. And if they are you are being trolled.
I want console to have it. It makes 0 sense not to in an MMORPG.
And actual market statistics would disagree with you about it dying.
Can you play path of exile on your console? No? Eve? That's just 2 games, albeit 2 games that are at the top of their genres (imo). There are too many to list in their entirety.

GoldriverMtsCBE✭✭✭I agree, please bring it back into the console version of the game. I actually bought a wireless keyboard just for my Xbox One so I could use it with ESO. Also I find it annoying to have to listen to people randomly walking around in town. I wish voice chat was for groups/guilds only. As it stands I can't mute specific players all I can do is leave the channel. It's a half baked system in it's current form.3 -

And there are those who want optional download? Not even just add an option in the menu to hide the text chat and done. Have you tried pvp? Well it's a mess it is hard to find a big group or talk with yhe rest of your alliance.1 -
Archon12976✭✭My only real question at this point is this: do the devs even acknowledge these things when they pop up on the forums? To be honest, I haven't seen anything from ZoS since joining these forums other than the occasional mod enforcing forum rules (which is fine, I actually like that about these forums).
Is there a website or a special section of the forums where the devs actually respond to our concerns?1 -

As someone who very much wants text chat I 100% agree with you.
It should be optional , and have a way to not even show it for those who want it.
I've yet to see a single person who wants text chat to say it should always be on.
We just want the option to use it.

Ishta✭✭I think continuing this thread is important. It's a relevant issue that continues to affect our experience in game. Yes, the same reasons have been stated many times and unfortunately some will always make it personal and start fights.
But the point is to show continued support for the implementation of this feature and discuss the affects of it's absense, which will be felt more so as we progress.

How can it be hard to find a group when everyone seems to be saying that the lack of text chat is forcing players to zerg (which has not been my experience at all but I have to be fair and acknowledge my experience differs from others)? I like the lack of text chat because I can do things like solo sneak behind the advancing enemy. Patiently wait for JUST the right moment to pick out JUST the right targets(sitting for minutes on end making sure my assassination was perfect lol) and find the opening needed to burn the enemy siege equipment because they didn't realize they lost the 3 players using it. I was a hero that day, and nobody knew lol. While I won't use the term "organic pvp" as text chat is just as viable a method for pvp as voice chat, I do believe vc opens up more strategies since there are varying levels of communications. This in turn allows for much more playstyles aside from the get 50 people and let's hit a castle technique which will undoubtedly become the norm with text chat (admittedly every now and then that is extremely fun but I don't want it to be the only thing going on).
Once again I remind you all "I am 100 percent ok with an optional text box in any and all game modes if that is deemed best for the game". The previous statement involves my opinion on text box interaction in regards to console pvp, which I believe can be a unique entity in comparison to pc pvp.
