There's been many official statements regarding the thread topic. All have stated that text chat will not be included.
You think because a hundred or so ppl post/spam in some thread that they'll change a key development decision that was made & debated long, long ago that would affect hundreds of thousands of players?
We as players are encouraged to offer our feed back and constructive criticism on the game and that is exactly what we are doing, if you are unhappy with the thread topic and cant offer any constructive content to the discussion then please refrain from posting here.

PC Master Race cant handle all the arguments, they are afraid of the rise from console players, who steal all the games from PCcause pc market is dying^^ But back 2 topic :>
Text chat would be a nice improvment xD
*You guys really shouldn't feed the trolls. Granted I only read the first 3 pages and the last page but, I feel like it was really obvious these guys were just messing with you lol. "My legally blind friend". I chuckled.
With text chat and push to talk, I'd be here for a lonnng time. My couch is pretty comfy.
A chatbox for a guild would be nice or even a little message board, but since guilds can get big something like that should be left to the forums.I want to talk to my Guild Members as well. Using a chatbox.
The people who are against voice chat are creepy as hell, they don't talk like real people.
I polled my own friends and all of them who didn't already know responded with surprise, exasperation and disbelief over the lack of text chat. It was just assumed by them that it was an MMO, therefore it has text chat, and further, the PC version had text chat so it was a nobrainer that all subsequent ports would have it.
Two of them were considering getting the game and the lack of text comms resulted in their decision to not get it, but to let me know if they ever put it back.
My biggest question is how are we supposed to communicate with other players if we don't have a mic? I don't think we should have to go out and spend extra money just to be able to play the game.

Yeah I forgot on your PC you can't use things like mumble, ventrilo, Teamspeak, Skype or one of the other multitudes of VOIP programs lol...

Text chat would be fine, but hardly used. More people have headsets than a keyboard hooked up to their PS4.
Translation: I have not had an issues yet, so clearly they don't exist.
Also text chat would hardly be used? Yeah tell that to all the players using smart glass on their tablets/phones or who have plugged keyboards directly into their consoles. Neverwinter zones on console are plenty chatty with keyboard users.
Putting down your controller to type on a mobile device or even a keyboard, or just speak on your headset and keep playing? Seems like an easy choice. If they put a text chat in the game, and someone stops playing in the middle of a dungeon to type, I'll be removing them from the dungeon.
I do agree, a text chat would be handy, it just wouldn't be active or useful anywhere outside of a city. It can be a bit hard to chat in a city. People are talking as if a text box is life or death for this game, and that isn't the case. It's just a case of people online crying for the sake of crying, as usual. By all means, I welcome any new features to any game.
i Understand where you are coming from but not every one can use Voip like you can for a number of different reasons Deafness, Social Anxiety and Anonymity are just a few reasons. and just because you have not had any issues with the voice chat thus far dosent mean others haven't.
Anonymity? You're really stretching for reasons there bud. Deafness, I'll give you that. That does make sense, though no game company is ever going to put in features because maybe 10% of the players can't hear. If you think Voicechat is bad for "issues" you've clearly never seen the text chat of any MMO.
Still not disagreeing the game could use a text chat, but I'm not going to try and make up reasons for it. It could just use it, simple.

Yes anonymous. I usually avoid talking in any voice chat until I know each person well enough to speak because too often people have gone wild because OMG female on voice chat. It happens more often than people realize though I've been very lucky with people in this game not being like that for the most part! I literally could not even attempt to give you an estimate on how many times it's happened either to me or another girl when I was around because it's happened a ton.

Not everyone thinks this is a dating site. Easy solution, if someone hears ur a girl and has never seen or heard one before, then just mute em........just the same way anyone else does if someone is 'annoying' them....whether they are man, woman or beast. What can they actually do to u through the game by hearing ur a chic?

@defcon.dealer1b14_ESO
It's the constant having to hear it and be subject to it in the first place. That's why many of us join all female guilds and avoid talking in voice chats until comfortable. We get so sick and tired of having to be subject to it in the first place.
Imagine a coworker who makes the same dumb joke day in and day out. Eventually you just can't handle hearing it anymore. You reach the same point when people sick things to you often. So you gag your Co worker. Then a new employee comes along and says he same joke. Gag him. Another new employee. Same joke. Gag him. New employee. Joke. Gag. Tear hair out.
Hope that helps a bit explain why.

I know wat ur saying in reference to physically being around the person annoying someone...but that's something a mute button cannot help...on the game, it can.
So mic up, guild up, group up and mute away....you and ur all girl guild are missing out on a lot of kool and helpful players by hiding from the kidos
This has been a social standard in most multiplayer video games since voice chat has existed. It's an interesting anomaly where literally most male players go out of their way to oddly interact with the newly discovered female.
You present your case perfectly clear. People like @defcon.dealer1b14_ESO think that stalking, sexual harassment, etc. can't exist in a video game, but surprise, surprise!

I'm just saying we're so over having to hear it in the first place. Yes we can ignore but then we have to hear it which is exactly what we're trying to avoid.

LOL, there, their, they're.....I'm assuming that shows just how much u mean to me
This is basically the reason after my mic broke I have never bothered to get a new one. Also most games barely anyone actually uses the voice chat. I have a keyboard that I use with my phone and can connect to my PS4 and just wished I could use it for ESO. I don't know how many people I hear on mics not using it to enhance a team. That could be different in this game, but I just feel you can get as good teamwork communicating or setting a team objective before a dungeon in text chat...defcon.dealer1b14_ESO wrote: »

To all the people saying 'It doesn't need text based chat'.
That's cool, that's your opinion, but in a game where guilds exist; text based chat is essential.
What's the point of a guild where you can't communicate effectively within the game?
What's the point of trading? You can't negotiate on prices effectively inside the game,
What's the point of dungeons? You can't form strategies, help eachother to co-ordinate properly.
So on, so forth.
Realm reborn hammers this game into the ground for dungeons, even the group finder is diabolical.
I'm tired of people saying ''The game doesn't need it''.
Yes it does, maybe not for you, but you don't need to use it.
There are deaf people who can't use MICS fullstop,
If text based chat isn't introduced soon, this game will see a rapid decline in player peak counts on the console. I guarantee it.
I loved Skyrim, because Skyrim was a solo game.
Elder scrolls online ISN'T solo, that's why it's called ''ONLINE'' - The whole purpose of it being online, is to experience it together.
How can you experience it together, when you can't effectively communicate?
Short answer; You can't.
I think best when defcon does responds it is easier just to ignore it like he never said anything....
