( but pls no troll arguments like a lot did... ) Most thinks will repeat as this thread goes on, because its a simple fact how beneficial it would be, right now the game is in a state of a singleplayer RPG with coop option, but not a MMORPG for what it was sold.

    I hope the Devs will look into this, although I'm afraid they won't...

    The problem is, even if you would be willing to use Voice Chat, it currently doesn't work. Functional Voice Chat requres at least some kind of "Push to Talk" functionality to prevent all sorts of background noise from interfering. And then it requires adequate hardware on the Player side (which many don't have apparently) and of course stable servers with plenty of bandwidth.
    Also, you need a way to address people, which is currently impossible with all the "station names" being displayed instead of Player names...
    And actually hearing when somebody is addressing you in a busy area is almost impossible...

    So, implementing functioning Voice Chat for general (not group or guild) chat is actually pretty hard, perhaps impossible. Having a robust fallback option, eg. text chat, is something that simply makes sense. And with BT/USB Keyboards supported on consoles it's completely simple, you don't even have to use the controller to type.
    And the additional benefit of lower server load (Voice Chat causes more traffic than text...) would surely not harm the overall game performance at all... ;)

    New content is important i know the PC users who play since release are waiting a long time now, but this thread is to discuss the missing text chat ( which is also important, try to imagine a PC version without text lol ) to make the game more social, so more enjoy it,more players will come, Zeni gets more money and better reputation, and that will lead maybe to more content, so all sides win :D

    Buy a PS4/XB1 then youl get alllllll the content you want,!

    Hey, they're the ones that wasted time taking the chat OUT of the game, I can't imagine it'd be a lot of work to put it back.

    I really enjoy the proximity voice. Although it's not prefect. All I would really like to see is a quick way to mute people in the chat channel you are in.

    that would be also a real good addition that should be added, no one here isnt against Voice chat :) a standart text chat like in "all" MMORPG would just be so a huge addition with so many benefits on console, which are missing right now to get a full MMORPG experience :>

    My biggest question is how are we supposed to communicate with other players if we don't have a mic? I don't think we should have to go out and spend extra money just to be able to play the game. Also how about adding something to show other players that we don't have a mic. I get so many people trying to communicate with me on the ps4 in area and group chat and they think I'm being rude for not responding, when in reality I literally can't communicate with them in any way and they don't have any way of knowing.

    yeah azlin i bet you arent the only one with that problem, but hey for us on console players its to complicated to plug an wired/less keyboard into the console to use, according to Zenimax xD

    So the qualifying feature of an MMO is text chat? And all this time I thought it had something to do with a massive multiplayer online game.

    Text chat propagates zerg PvP. This game has enough of that & it is reason enough to leave it out. Organically driven PvP is where it's at. Always has been.

    PC version (The Master Race) does not even have voice chat, so consile is not getting text chat its only fair. Y'all want text we want voice, no ine s getting anything!

    Right now without the option to use a text chat, the game is in a state of a singleplayer RPG with ccop option like Destiny.
    without the option to communicate with the masses in coordination ( which provides text chat ) so its no MMORPG :) at least from my POV. Maybe you see it in a diffrent way, thats totaly fine.

    For the Zerg PVP can be sometimes annoying, on the other hand, i prefer to be able to communicate with all players from my faction to coordinate things, knowing whats happening, and thats impossible with the voice chat. And aside from PVP all other benefits will only improve the overall game experience what should be the goal of a game who wants to do healthy.

    so devs plsssss, we need text chat :D

    Another good reason for text chat, right now on the europ server the voice chat is down, no communication, so Elder Scrolls Offline ? :D

    Resubbed to FF14, without subtitles and text based chat, the game is unplayable. I guess I'll check back in from time to time.

    yeah a official statement would be awesome :D but until than just keep the thread going, if things get not adressed @ Firvin i can only recommend you to give Final Fantasy 14 a try on PS4 ( sadly no Xbox one version, due to microsofts thickheads^^)

    There's been many official statements regarding the thread topic. All have stated that text chat will not be included.

    You think because a hundred or so ppl post/spam in some thread that they'll change a key development decision that was made & debated long, long ago that would affect hundreds of thousands of players?

    With out text chat game seems like a single player with co op rather than a mmo imo .Text chat makes games feel much more lively.

    I do find it funny that so far on voice chat most people that are using it that I have heard have been doing one of these things:
    1.Playing music (annoying)
    2. Acting stupid arguing with people over nothing (annoying)
    3. Mic is constantly breaking up (annoying)
    4. People running up to you constantly bothering you then when you turn to them they run away (annoying)
    5. Have a tv running in background (annoying)

    Seems like no one is using voice chat right out in open, not sure about dungeon and PvP stuff yet.

    We as players are encouraged to offer our feed back and constructive criticism on the game and that is exactly what we are doing, if you are unhappy with the thread topic and cant offer any constructive content to the discussion then please refrain from posting here.

    If for no other reason, we need text chat for PvP purposes. The majority of each alliances players in a given campaign are not going to be in voice chat with one another. So the only way they know where to fight is where the map indicator is showing conflicts or where a keep is under a siege. This makes for little to no strategy in Cyrodiil (from what I've seen on Xbox the past few days). It's just all three alliances slamming their heads into the same keep for hours until one alliance manages to win. There's no strategy or maneuvering going on to make things interesting in Cyrodiil, I desperately think voice chat is needed if Cyrodiil is going to be more than the clusterf*ck it is right now.

    @wharf agreed that is one of the many casses that text chat would help, a few people have said adding in text chat would create a zerg group mentality to pvp but i strongly disagree, as it stands right now in pvp people are just running to flagged keeps and thats creating zerg's. If there was a chat box people would be able to coordinate defense and attack rather than just run around in one massive group.

    Had a dungeon group 10 minutes ago, was the only in voice chat, again a singleplayer RPG experience :(
