@utzpretzels No, there was nothing special about finding a motif on launch, because the chances were higher and there was no such thing as theft. I can't see how farming Vulkhel Guard bank's containers and relogging is in any way special or rewarding.

Rare items belong in the game and you should have to play the game to get them.
There is now absolutely nothing special about motifs. I remember at launch what a huge deal it was to find one. Putting things like this on the store seems innocent at the start but ultimately detract from the overall fun of the game.
"Whether or not we will offer them by themselves has not yet been decided" -> They are now offering them by themselves. Therefore decided. As I said though, this is only with reference to existing motifs. They may not yet have decided about whether new DLC-based motifs will be offered by themselves, which was what that quote was about, and was my point in quoting LameoveR, as I didn't understand the relevance of posting an image that was referring to something else.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »Where does it say that it is decided? That being said you act like we will get new zones etc soon. It'll be probably spring 2016 before we see any new zones, new levels or new crafting motifs. By then they will be selling end game gear and high end crafting mats on the store. This will seem minor heh.Yes now. It was January when they said "Whether or not we will offer them by themselves has not yet been decided", and now it has been decided. But still only with reference to existing motifs. They may not yet have decided about new DLC-based motifs.jamesharv2005ub17_ESO wrote: »
They need to make money or this game dies. They have chosen the crown store to make this money, these items are all cosmetic and so i am completely fine with this.
They can add as much cosmetic stuff in the store as they like, so long as we do not enter pay to win by selling gear that makes you stronger in anyway then i am fine with it.

How do you qualify searching pots in huts to be hard? It's random. Takes time, not effort.
@EQBallzz do you even hear yourself? motives from crown store can't be sold, there won't be a flood of it through the market, hence the price won't just instantly drop. believe it or not you're not the smartest one in the room, some people make money for upkeeping a big mmo project. can you guess who?

Yep..some people do know how to make money from a F2P MMO project..like NW. That's what we are trying to avoid. If you think it will stop at motifs or that the current high price for motifs are going to stay that way you are pretty gullible. This is just the beginning and it's how they fool people like you. They slowly add this crap and keep ramping up until it's full on P2W garbage.
Also, who is judging my intelligence? You? LOL. That's hilarious. BTW, it's motifs not motives (it's even in the subject of the thread). Pro-tip: when you call someone out on their intelligence maybe use spell-check or something.

If I paid for 2 motifs, 3000 crowns, I want the copper and daedra hearts readily available for me to make my characters this stuff all the way through the game, not just when they get to max level.
Come on ZOS, fix this. Copper, daedra hearts and whatever is required for the other motifs need to be for sale in game. I'm actually pretty ticked about it because they were available in beta.
For everyone thinking about buying these motifs. Be aware, you CAN'T get the copper, daedra hearts etc from the vendors thus is is not worth buying these motifs. Don't make the mistake I did.
Okay i'll pretend you didn't. The answer is because it LOOKED DIFFERENT. It wouldn't give a player ANY advantage over ANYTHING. The fact that you're bying something DOESN'T contradict the fact that you're doing it ONLY to LOOK DIFFERENT. It's NOT forced, it NOT required for anything. It does NOTHING aside from satisfying someones PERSONAL PREFERENCES.
@Iluvrien To be fair, I don;t think it will effect the prices of the motifs to much. The vast majority will not want to give ZoS cash, so will get the in game gold to do it. I mean, 25k for either the elf or barbarian or primal isn't really a lot.

You don't get them from the store- you get them from drops. And I have tons from drops.

LOL. F2P is made for you. OMG! I can't instantly get the mats to make gear! I can't buy it from an NPC or cash shop with no effort! OMG! What do I do!? Do I have to play the game or buy from another player? OHNOZ!
Don't worry..you will be getting your way soon enough. They will keep catering to your "instant gratification" play style until everything is just a crown purchase away. In the meantime may I suggest Neverwinter? You can already buy what you want there so maybe you can get your F2P fix there until this game has more completely gone down the drain.

People said the drop rate of finding these were nerfed. I didn't beleieve them. Low and behold it makes sense why they were nerfed back then.
The drop rate of hirelings were nerfed recently. Makes me wonder if legendary materials are what's coming next.
The bad thing about motifs being available in the cash shop is that it will snowball into more and more in game items along with the high possibility of certain items drop rate being reduced to the point that people will just give in and go to the shop for what ever they want. This isn't my first, second, third, fourth merry~go~round with RPGs. I'm just basing my opinion from past experiences with cash shops in game.
Legendary mats in cash shops in 6 months to a year, watch.
