Well I can say the pvp lag is improving, in last few days Iv experienced the best ping in cyrodiil while it been very busy.

I was quite impressed the other day!

Sounds interesting.....been away for a few days and go home soon.
It will be nice if I could log in and have no issues.

I'm guessing this is engine related (Hero). And they can't fix it unless they change the engine.

They are changing the engine, as in rewriting it, all the time, but it's not helping. Changing it as in replacing it is not an option, because all the game content was made for this particular engine, and the engine was written for this game. They are most likely inseparable by now.

The engine is only there to save time and make tasks easier.
You can still plug in custom code and do what the hell you like.....if you have the time and resources

Sure, if you have infinite time and resources, you can even rewrite everything from scratch with an expensive team of super skilled programmers. However, what you could do in theory and what you can actually afford to do in reality are two very different things.

The point is that they have a limited budget, probably more limited now than what they had hoped for, and they have sort of painted themselves into a corner. Some of their code is of insufficient quality in several aspects, but they can't afford to rewrite it from scratch at this point, and they seem to be short on staff even to maintain and patch the PC version while also finishing up their work on the console versions. Coding on several fronts is unwise in terms of managing their developer resources. It might have been their only choice, but they obviously underestimated the effort that would be required to fix bugs this long after release.

Don't expect the game engine to get rewritten anytime soon.

They are NOT using the Hero engine -- they used that for prototyping. They wrote their own engine from the ground up.

I do believe that the people at ZOS still care about this issue, but honestly, their handling of it is a PR disaster. Now that the console release is close, they could at least give some hints to whether they have hopes for Cyrodiil to work better on consoles, to encourage PvP focused players to transfer (if they have that choice) and give the consoles a shot instead of just throwing in the towel. Without some word from ZOS to give people hope, I don't think their existing customers are going to flock to spend another $20 to see the game fail to work as intended on another platform, because frankly, without any closer information, people will not trust the developers to get it right this time either.

What's up? Any hope for the PC/Mac PvP to ever improve? Any good news from testing the console versions? Anything?

Who cares about cyrodiil anyway, who needs endgame content? I just want to be able to dye my wedding dress... I have 20 euros in my wallet waiting to be thrown at zeni for allowing me to do so.

Well this is the only PROBLEM!
I am a very active pvp'er and the ONLY TIME lag becomes unbearable is when the smurfs begin their meteor lag exploiting train.
    FACT!
when they are not doing it , everything is 100+fps/no lag at all.
So it's more then clear that they have to remove the skill to stop them from exploiting and fix the damn thing.

So, the force with largest amount of people will take keeps most of the time because of creation of lag is the winner.
I've sent feedback, I've sent reports and I am not getting any response at all.

Seems I have to leave the game again because the fun of PvP is gone when there is only lag-fest.
And yes, if a force attacks on the other side of Cyrodiil it affects everyone, not only around that specific place.

So I was standing still in Fort Warden, the EP was attacking Glademist.
My ping skyrocketed and I was at 5000+, so it is clearly NOT a solution to PvP somewhere else.
This must be corrected, I am losing patience and I know alot more that are on the verge of giving up on ESO.
Feels like little action is being done on this...

There are two problems with this situation, both very serious. One is that the game doesn't work as intended and as advertised. The other is that a few people can bring the server to its knees and ruin the experience for everyone else. The behavior that ruins the experience is not necessarily intentional, but if it continues, PvP is dead.

It doesn't look like ZOS are really trying to fix the game, so now it's time to do something drastic, like disabling all the abilities that appear to cause problems in PvP and having the players try to find a playable game in whatever remains. It won't be the same game as on consoles, but it won't be a proper game at all as long as the game-breaking lag remains.

    That's it! I give up!

There is no way to do active strategy fighting in Cyrodiil nowdays.
There is just lagtrain with most players wins!

The upside of this is that I will be less stressed and angry.

Edit: Stuck in animation, not able to cast spells. i think that it's the worst PvP lag I've ever seen and I am a paying customer whom is not getting what I pay for. I am cancelling the sub right away.

I agree with most statements above, we would give the wrong message if we would continue to pay our subs for a game in such a terrible state. Lag makes the competitive pvp campaigns unplayable, especially in the evening. Even instanced 4 man dungeons begin to lag to the point where its unplayable.

The most depressing point is that the lag is getting worse and I get the idea Zenimax doesnt have a clue how to fix it. The reaction of not fixing the lag is simple, first people will start unsubbing (which is already happening on a fairly large scale from what I read) and if the lag isnt fixed after a while they will leave the game. This might be a strategy to make as much profit as possible from their (broken) game without investing more money to actually fix it. I dont hope this happens because I really like this game but Zenimax' actions contradict their statements time after time. Each time a problem is pointed out we get the reaction: "we know that some players are experiencing these issues and we're looking into them internally." I though the idea behind developing this game was to join forces with the actual players. By not explaining the actual issues the players cant help to improve it, all they can do is guess and complain because they a decrease in performance and no improvements.

I will gladly pay my sub but only when I feel these game breaking issues have been solved to a reasonable point.

Honestly theres no reason to pay sub at all for this @#$% service we re provided months now. I ll just enjoy the game in the morning and non where there are little to none lagtrains and do it free of charge. I paid 9 months...no more waste of money until something serious and effective is done to counter the lag or the zergfest that the game has come to be.

Zergs are not performance problems . Spell effects obviously are . Those should be solved . Strip those spells naked . Make dots/hots work on 2 seconds base and u will at least cut by half number of calculations. Do whatever u need. We can survive uglier but playable game.

Only down side is the travelling on foot/mount would take longer time.

True, but with the amount of time spent travelling in Cyrodiil, this would proably be a significant problem. I suspect people would actually rage quit if they died and had to ride at 50% speed to get back to the battle. The amount of time spent on horseback doing nothing much interesting is already enough to kill the fun for many players.

Could be solved by enabling temp buff to mounted / out of combat movement speed, xx% time dilation = xx% speed buff.

I am just as frustrated as all of you about the performance issue in Cyrodiil, if time dilation is something they can use while trying to find a suitable solution, I would not mind fighting in slow motion, I have done it in Eve Online , its better than instantly die on arrival.

    Stun bomb.

Time dilation is there to reduce the calculations per second the server has to make.
The problem with lag is combat calcs.
Specificially.....zerg induced aoe calcs with dots/hots/damage/heals applied to multiple bodies.

Stun reduces the damage calcs per second as you cant do damage when stunned.
A stun bomb would have the same effect on zergs rather than single bodies.
Artificially creating a limited area time dilation effect where the combat calcs / second are instantly and significantly reduced.
Thus clearing the server back log and eliminating lag.

One thought that I had is the answer is probably simple economics...

Players will use the skills that maximize the damage that they can do at the least resource cost. In other words if a skill breaks things and causes lag then make it cost more magicka/stamina/ultimate in Cyrodiil (Only). That way it will limit the amount of times that it can be cast and players will have to find other skills that are more efficient with their resources.

Keep raising the costs until we get to a point where the lag is gone.

    my 2 cents...
