I once joined a group for grinding Rkundzelft in the hope of combining it with hunting for Dwemer motifs... When they discovered I wasn't playing a Dragonknight (apparently that seems to be an unofficial prerequisite) and also wanted to loot Dwemer urns, I was immideately kicked from the group...

Yea, I'm not sure you understand the point of a grind. The goal is to get in, kill stuff in 30 seconds, get out, and repeat. This is the most efficient exp gain and will get you a level in two hours.

Looting urns inside of a grind? Seriously? Also, you can only Dwemer motif grind once an hour, so your plan was flawed from the start.

    Just for info.

"So with the latest patch Rkund was stealth nerfed from 20k xp to 1800xp."

It wasn't actual nerf, but a bug fix.
All of dungeon and skull bosess give 1800xp or something like that for quite some time. Boss you are talking about was the only one that were unintentionaly keep giving alot of xp.

This would be true IF you could reach VR14 by questing alone. Unfortunately ZoS didn't bother to think that far ahead and it's impossible to get all the way to VR14 only questing, you simply run out. Dungeon and PvP XP are being increased in 1.6, but until then both give absolutely garbage XP gain so they aren't a viable option either. That only leaves grinding for the final 2+ VR after all quests are exhausted, which MANY players hate and ZoS keeps nerfing grinding into the ground, good times.

I guess you could, but you wont get anything for it, namely Champion Points in the new system, and that you wont be able to do that quest in the future again on that character, since Cadwell's Silver and Gold Quests are Non-Repeatable.

I wont do any quests now unless they are repeatable..because that is just Future CP wasted that I wont get back.

That's why Grinding is important, and this Stealth Nerf of a Grinding place in Craglorn makes no sense.

ZOS pushes you towards doing the quests but the Majority of the quests are non repeatable..and if you do the non repeatable quests now on your character you will not get any further CP than the cap they are giving in the future (70 at VR14) and you wont be able to do those quests again in the future for Champion points..

So why Nerf Grinding?? They are cutting their own throat by doing this.. people will get angry and start complaining and might even cancel their sub until the Champion system comes to the live servers..

@ZOS Hey WAKE UP and Stop Nerfing our Grind spots unless you are going to give us more Champion points for completing our non-repeatable quests when you bring the Champion system online, which will not be on the live server for atleast another month or so ..

I suggest doing pvp quests and craglorn daily quests, for those who don't want to do cadwell's silver/gold.
Specialy pvp quests, easy fast nice gold, all you need is a fast horse and a potent build to counter other players. A duo would be better for survival.
Chillrend EU is a good place for that, always empty maybe more ppl will fill it and stop DC dominance there ;)
Dolmens world bosses also boost xp of you're bored.

Trying to cheer ppl a bit.. The nerf of grind spots really hard to digest :<

I'm sad. Seriously, I'm as against-grinding as it gets but if I have to play through vet zones again to level my alts I just might unsub.

I can understand wanting players to play through that wonderful content but at this point 90% of grinding people are alts #2+ of vet 14 people, many of who actually HAVE done every single bit of content - which is why we refuse to do it again. We had a fast, if boring, way to level up and go on playing with other toons as opposed to unsubbing from boredom. Why on Earth take that away?

    1. There are 14 vet levels, spanning more than double the content of 50 regular levels.
    2. The system is being phased out, so what, exactly, is the issue?

Because it ain't gonna be phased out yet, for like atleast another month... if not more, and I want to level my ALT Main Duplicate to VR14....

Cool. So play the game. I've never needed to grind on any of my characters, and they level just fine.

I swear to god if i have to quest through the ebonheart pact for a third time i'm gonna kill someone!

Isn't that right!? I did it 4.5 times. My sanity is long gone.
Although the quality of the media related to the quest is pretty good this is a really really linear game with almost 0 replayability when it comes to the storyline. Almost no branching and the few choices have pretty much no effect on absolutely anything. The only diversity is in the various way you can approach the end game mechanics. Without a fast way to get to that point the game will suffer.

I'm just gonna cry right now. Got 5 V14, leveling my 6th on another alliance. Don't want to spend hours on that. Grinding is just too important, stop nerfing every nice Grinding spot in this game :c

Odds are they're preparing for 1.6. The idea is that everything should be equal, so they don't want grinding to yield more CP than any other in-game activity. Hopefully, it encourages people to actually play the game.
Grinding is repeatedly performing an action/event to obtain something. Like XP.
It isn't fun, at all. But it's better than doing quests over and over if you level faster.
Grinding should be more effective than questing for leveling. Again, it is boring as hell when it isn't implemented well in the game (as in here) and people that grind do quite a work to finally get to the point they'll be able to enjoy the game the most.
Please understand that you can do grinding or you can do questing trough 2 factions (and PVP quests give a stupidly low amount of XP: it isn't an option). With all your chars.

Anyway, this whole stuff will get reworked and even pvp quests will give some xp in 1.6 so whatever. I just can't understand the hate for grinding.

Idk, I mat gather in Crag almost daily and belong to a trader there. I can say my own experience is that chat picked up 1000 fold, even if 80% was "LF Grind partner" from the way it was once they killed the multi-boss and Shadow grinds. And my sales which had dropped some when they killed previous grinds, were selling again within hours of listing (most).

I imagine it will quiet down again and sales will drop until the next one is found. But obviously, quite a few people would rather grind a few hours than run 2 whole more zones and still need more xp to cap.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Grinding is in no way cheating. It is an alternative to questing for those of us that have already quested through the entire game sometimes multiple times. Once they improve xp rewards for dungeons there will be another alternative.

They want people to all level at or about the same speed. It's called keeping longevity. If you guys haven't figured that out after all the nerfs, I'm sad for you.

Unless they make it such that you have a flat increase in level at all times no matter if online or offline this will never happen.People will have various amount of time played and various rates of advancement. i can bet that some people could pull up a Cadwell Gold in just one week from the start. Is playing 20h a day a cheat?

That is not called longevity it is catering to people that get touchy about people having more virtual crap than them. Longevity in a MMO is having a wide array of interesting stuff to do while you reached max level.

I think you nailed it, but the last line should be changed to:
...they are going to make damn sure that you have no choice but to experience it.

The designers couldn't see the forest because they were down in the weeds.

I give great credit and admiration to what art, animators, writers, music, and sound editors and designers have done with this game, but who ever decided on the game mechanics clearly didn't put enough though into what makes a MMO fun to play.

Unfortunately, the game and quest system is the core of the game engine and will be difficult to change. The game designers took the lazy and easy road of copying what other MMOs have done in the past, and didn't want to take the chance to think outside the box.

I can't beat up the game designers too much because they have to do what their bosses tell them and stay within the budget. I'm hoping that most of the income from subscription fees goes into refining the game and not into the pockets of the publishers.

    One can only hope?

What the game needs is a payment system to where we can pay to get a vr14 character. I took mine to 12 the old fashioned way then 14 through crag grinding but I can't just go back and do all the stories again....I want a nightblade (have a temp) but uuuuuugh the though of doing dc then ad then ep alll again---the skyshards, the world bosses all the cadwel's ..malog bol fight....oy vey. I would pay 20 bucks to get a vr14 on my account. I bet a lot of other people would too.

Grinding itself is kind of silly, I mean they could probably do away with the entire level system itself and just run the entire game on pvp ranks and skyshards. I can't see why you need 50 levels of pre-game followed by 14 levels of veteran ranks just to pvp. Its stupid. It makes pvp totally inaccessible and forces you to grind, and for what purpose? Getting items you're going to replace with more quest items? Its a never ending cycle of timesink. Why not just allow pve to be open and optional.

People are talking like grinding is totally gone now. You can still grind just not 1 million exp in 30 minutes or who knows maybe someone has already found another place to do so and just not made it public yet.

I'm open for all methods of leveling which ever suits ones play style pvp, dungeons, quests, grind as long as there is at least some kind of balance. Was it said that questing vet lvl would/should take about 10 hours? Gaining vet lvl in 30 minutes is not in balance. Grinding eg spellscar gives you vet lvl in 3-4 hours, that's not too bad.

You casual players make my brain hurt. They can nerf the exp grinding...I'll still level by farming unskilled players in PvP and out level whiny casuals. Fact.
