Wait, you really do it all on paper? I kept that sheet to be able to check when I'm not logged in... But there are add-ons for it. They all have cross-character support now. AI Research Grid allows you to check learned traits and styles for all characters at once.NadiusMaximus wrote: »I shouldn't need a pad and paper to keep track of known traits between the anvil and merchants.
How do you keep track of known traits without going to a crafting place?
I am not sure as I am not home but I think it is something like Harvens Crafting Styles or something like that. Any item in your inventory shows its style and whether it is researched, researchable or currently being researched.
But to know everything including what my alts need I have to reach for my trusty piece of paper.
It wouldn't affect me in the slightest. I've done everything in this game up to and including end game content without a single addon. Those who rely on them are the elitist min/maxers, terribads who can't play otherwise, or players wishing this was the other MMO they used to play.

and, they didAs others have pointed out, that should be huge wake-up call to ZOS that they need to take their addon community seriously.
NadiusMaximus wrote: »I'm asking, how to do it without add ons.
A big sheet of paper with a grid. Really quite easy. For me top row is wood. Second metal weapons. Third light armour. Fourth medium and last heavy. Eight colums under each row for each trait. Then when I research something I just add a shorthand letter for the character.
So when Odette Skullcrusher learns precice bow I go to row one, colum one and put an O in the box. When she learns divines heavy girdly I go to row five colum eight and put an O there.
Not sure if this is what you were asking but that is how I do it to track FIVE (I am mad never do this!) crafting characters.

Yup. I don't know how people get the information they need without addons.
I mean, how do you even play not knowing how much damage your attacks are doing, or how big your heals are. Did that attack/heal crit? WHO KNOWS!?!?!
How close am I to the softcap? WHO KNOWS?!?!

Do you know how much damage I did in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim? Yeah me either.
Do you know what my softcaps where in in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim? Yeah I don't either
Played all those just fine.

You do know about the modding community and TES games, right?
nexusmods.com/skyrim/?
nexusmods.com/oblivion/?
nexusmods.com/morrowind/?
Addons and mods are part of TES legacy. Why should ESO be different?

Did you have a group in Morrowind that could wipe repeatedly because you have no idea how much damage you do and it happens to not be enough?ers101284b14_ESO wrote: »Sallington wrote: »j.murro2ub17_ESO wrote: »More than for my enjoyment - they make things functional

It happened with Alpha Tools.
Well, if this poll is an accurate representation of the playerbase, almost 75% of us use and enjoy addons, and would be annoyed if they went away.
As others have pointed out, that should be huge wake-up call to ZOS that they need to take their addon community seriously. A small handful of players make up the dev community for the majority of the popular addons, which means the loss of a few of those "developer" players could severely impact the playerbase's overall satisfaction with the game.
Given that about a third of those polled would actually quit the game if they couldn't use their addons, this is something ZOS really needs to keep in mind. I'm sure that losing a third of their subscription income would be an incredibly painful event for the company.

I always want my damage to be higher, my armor to be better and my weapon(s) to do more damage. Ergo I try to find/make armor/weapons with higher stats to help make that happen. It is a basic affair.
...
I don't need floating numbers to tell me how well I'm doing because I always strive to be better and that's all that's needed to improve.

So I guess you somehow intuitively knew that staves use spell crit instead of weapon crit? And also, that some class abilities use weapon crit?
No, there's absolutely no way to know that without seeing the numbers.
