I sorry, did you say Addon support? What support? ZOS breaks most addons every time they release a major patch.

This is the main reason I don't use addons. I haven't used any because from past games where I've used them, I always found it a pain after every patch to update all the addons as well.

I figure if I don't get addicted to them, I won't be inconvenienced by not having them. However, people are linking some good ones. It's making me wonder about trying some of them. But maybe it's better if you don't know what you are missing.

I use little to no add-ons. So for me, the loss of add-on support would be nearly inconsequential. May make a few things more tedious, but that is largely negligible for me.

But for others? I would call it a bad business decision for zenni to suddenly rip away add-ons. Some people want their stats, their maps, their meters, auto-organizers and customizers. Many want to them to help the game 'function' better by way of having things made easier/able to organize or otherwise numerically relay information.

If ZOS took away add-ons, they better do some sort of UI update to at least partially ease the sting. But still, add-ons allow a such a wide variety of personal customization that I feel that ZOS simply can't replace it.

Those few words explain enough, because if you knew me at all in game you would realize just how hilarious comparing me to anything min/max truly is. But you made me giggle, so that's good enough :)

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

There are four add-ons that I find incredibly helpful.

Wykkyd's toolbar is one, if only for the fact that it has a clock. Sometimes time moves more quickly while playing ESO, I've discovered. I also enjoy that it tracks my exp for the next level and how full my pack is. All of this info is accessible in game, I know, but it's nice to be able to just look up and do a quick check.

Sous Chef is very useful just for the fact that there are so many different provisioning ingredients and it's nice knowing what is useful to me and what I don't really need. Previously I kept a physical list on a notepad of what I should be saving. This saves me from finding a cooking fire and scrolling through my recipe list and seeing what I need.

Research Assistant: probably the most useful one to me in this list. Since I constantly am researching traits for smithing, woodwork, and clothing, this is vital for tracking what I know and what I need to learn without traveling to a crafting station. Should I sell this belt or keep it for research? Do I know infused for light gloves so I can make one for a friend? It's right there at a push of a button.

Finally with AwesomeGuildStore, the ability to repeat my searches from the store I just visited has saved me a ton of frustration, especially if I'm looking for more than one item. An essential time-saver.

Would I be upset if they went away? Yeah, probably, but I'd still want to play the game anyway. It's still fun, even if I'm a little less efficient at what I'm doing. Add-ons are a hallmark of any Elder Scrolls game, but I completely understand that some people don't want to use them, that's also an option.

I would be personally caught between upset and happy they were gone.

Upset because many of those addons I rely on now (and feel crippled during updates).

Happy because, while I do use them now, got along JUST fine from 1-V12 w/o them. If no one used them then it would be a completely level playing field.

I only wish that ESO incorporated many of the more useful addons and then banned the rest.

So far, 75% have responded in favor of add-ons. What stands out even more to me is how many have stated the main reason they use them is for default UI short-comings. Are you listening ZOS? Here's your chance to demonstrate some of that improved communication and transparency.

Take a look at that poll again. Only 36% said they would unsubscribe over it. The vast majority would keep on playing without the addons, or never needed them in the first place. Sorry, but the whiners and rage quitters are in the minority.

Take your own advice, look at the poll and then actually read the words used in the post you quoted. @Ouroboros specified that percentage were "in favor", and so was obviously including both those who would unsubscribe as well as the people who would be upset if they were removed.

I use very few add-ons, and almost none that have any impact on the HUD (HarvestMap being the only one that really does so because of my heavy crafting bias), I would be upset at their removal and would certainly look to have a chance to copy the information stored in mine into another format (annotating printed maps for example) but I could certainly continue to play afterwards.

What does this mean? That I am "in favor" of add-ons without feeling the need to unsub if they were removed. Funny that.

Edit: Re-AmericaniZing the spelling in the quoted "favor"

I don't understand how someone can play a game, just because they load it with add-ons... it's not even the same game anymore and I don't like it. I use one add-on and that's simply because I want to see my players experience bar and how close I am to leveling up, I don't care if that goes away. It's just more convenient for me. How simply removing add-ons causes people to quit is totally beyond me

It really is more than that, and if you actually tried some of these add-ons, you would wonder why they were not included with the UI to begin with. Things like Advanced Filters, Research Assitant, AwesomeGuildStore, and a few others. Sure, there are a few that I use that I could live without, but not many. If ZOS were to ban the use of add-ons, they would need a damn good reason for doing so.

No one really thinks add-ons are going to be banned, at least I hope they don't. The point of the thread was to get some insight into how we feel about add-ons, and a broad gauge of percentage of players using them. I'd say 'mission accomplished".
From the poll results, ZOS would have a serious issue if everyone had to use only the default UI. ZOS depends on, and encourages the use of, add-ons to mitigate the UI short-comings. They created a system to allow add-ons to be implemented, but then say add-ons are 'officially unsupported'. As players, we're encouraged to customize the UI with add-ons, but are then forced to deal with broken and abandonded add-ons with every patch. Lots of posters here said they use add-ons to improve the default UI in non-combat areas. IMO, ZOS should either step up add-on support or improve the UI, but I'm guessing they will continue the status quo, which is sit on their hands and ignore us.

I could live without some addons used to simply make things easier on me ie:undiscovered/lorebooks

However, other addons like Roomba (guildbank stacker), BytheNineNotify (to stop the stupid notifications of xxx player I dont care abt in trade guilds) Shopkeeper (to tell me what item I sold in which of 4 trade guilds).....a few others have absolutely nothing to do with your (I hate addons so I'm gonna troll) reasons, as much as they do fixing the abject laziness on the part of ZOS to provide a functional interface/game for those that don't have all day to sit doing all the things they are for and actually wish to play.

I agree and while I think you may be a little harsh there are a ton of banking, crafting and guild store addons that are only logical and prevent huge amounts of tedious work to keep track of things.

I mean seriously how hard would it be for the game to tell us what style an item is, if we have researched it or not and which guild our sales were from? I can live without these things but it is just boring and time consuming to have to do these things manually.

A big sheet of paper with a grid. Really quite easy. For me top row is wood. Second metal weapons. Third light armour. Fourth medium and last heavy. Eight colums under each row for each trait. Then when I research something I just add a shorthand letter for the character.

So when Odette Skullcrusher learns precice bow I go to row one, colum one and put an O in the box. When she learns divines heavy girdly I go to row five colum eight and put an O there.

Not sure if this is what you were asking but that is how I do it to track FIVE (I am mad never do this!) crafting characters.

In this day and age this method should be built into the game. Without addons, we all would have to do this, which is ridiculous. So if addons were gone, I'd be annoyed, but would still play.

Try Wykkyd's outfitter. Just try it for some time and really use it. Try changing your gear and skills before every fight and you will see how good an OPTION to use more than just 12 of your skills in a timely fashion, is. You don't need to open your skill screen and manually change skills or gear, you press a button and it's done.
I was in a dungeon where our tank was tank/dps, depending on the fight. We had to wait for him before all major fights, so he could rearrange his skills. I did it without anyone in my group knowing about it and having to wait for me.
Outfitter is a must have, for me, personally. Without it, I know I would have stopped playing ESO a long time ago.
