VP vs. XP

    i just came back to see if they made the grind better now they made it worse when the patch notes say they did. Did most of deshan vr2 content completed everything but a open world boss and one of the anchors and im still 600k xp off from the vr3 zone that they sent me to. if they want to keep it grindy thats fine its their game but they should not be lieing about it thats just not valueing your customers time or money.

    I was hoping to reach VR14 by completing all quests, not grinding mobs for hours and hours without an end. Guess I shouldn't do any quests until they fix this, because I hate grinding. Sorry but it's not my cup of tea to mindlessly kill mobs until I die of boredom.
    I expect we will see hundreds of bots grinding, because you know nobody likes grinding. Please fix this asap

    now getting 4 exp a kill in vet zones... this is un-excusable if this crap isnt fixed by next maint my ass is unsubbing been here since early launch and this is the biggest load of BS to date....

    Yeah, they have a tendency of announcing certain goals and then doing all in their might not to achieve them. It's almost like it's Opposite Day all year through in ZOS HQ.

    I have to admit, I find this mental picture rather hysterical: they can perform wonderful facial manipulation, phasing mechanics and lengthy quest lines, gloriously expansive and detailed zones, but when it comes to basic math and decimal places they go all herpi-de-derp on us.

    Minus even the drops / gold / junks (it seems these have also been reduced)?

    And Update No 5 was looking promising, but it seems we need an update for the Update, unless players are over the moon with the prospect of gaining a level a month. I suppose... this is some way to give people "something to do".

    Ah well, I am off back to Tera, at least the "grind" there is a bit more meaningful, even if it is all about "gear chasing" and resources to improve it (just an example). Good stuff, it looks like for the foreseeable future, my two "main" characters will happily stay at glorious Vet Rank 1.

    How is that was devied by 3 ? There was less then 1M needed to obtain Rank 2 before.

    Seems to me this is exactly what we should have expected after the recent PR-fest where it was said ZOS are concerned not to allow those players who've been here from the start seriously outstrip the console newbies .. expect the XP rate to rise exponentially once those newbs being to hit VR levels so they can catch up.

    That doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing as how console players will be on completely separate servers than those playing the PC version.

    Console players will be on their own server - there is no reason to slow down the PC players' xp because we'll never meet the console players anywhere - not in Cyrodiil, not at the bank, not in the dungeon.

    Wait, i have a level 21 tank i started a few days back. You are saying it would take me longer to reach say Vr10 or VR11 when i finish all 3 factions?? Or i will never reach VR10/VR11 when i completed all quests for factions?

    How is the exp in upper craglorn? is it now completely hopeless? I made vr5-14 there in about a week of grinding in the evenings before this update.

    You'll not be vr10/11 after all factions, not even close, maybe between v4 and v6 i guess.

    You have to see all levels, not only V2, for exemple lv V13 to 14 was divided by 4, but we are not here to talk about math, maybe it's by 2,5, maybe 3,5, who care ? Is not the point at the moment.

    i have just played a little, but saw no point in doing content that doesn't reward me. Gonna either stay offline or just farm flowers until this is fixed.

    I'm also interested to hear ZOS comments on this issue and it is an issue, as I dont' see how I can reach V14 now, I'm V3 and I doubt I'll reach V4!

    I like a lot about this game, but there are to many things which stop the game being fun!
    I will see what decisions are made over the next week before I decide whether to unsub or not.
    Although due to ZOS general bad communication I doubt we will hear any comments regarding any of the issues raised with the new Update, so I guess this will probably be my last month for a while.......

    Interesting to see over 10 different topics on this and yet no response from anyone at ZoS. Hopefully they are not ignoring it!

    Time to level on vet chars is absolutely woeful at the moment, I am not sure who even allowed the comment in the patch notes that suggest it is now quicker.

    ZOS do it again. Wow. Utterly amazing. How can a bunch of clowns get it so wrong so often...

    I'm guessing this will also affect the rate at which weapons and skills level? So that if you want to add another weapon line to your arsenal or choose a morph you've never levelled you may as well forget it.

    They explicitly say in the patch notes: "We expect this to reduce the amount of time it takes to gain a Veteran Rank."

    Given that, we have to assume that this horrific XP rate is not intended. As others have speculated, something must be wrong here. Someone probably just misplaced a decimal somewhere.

    Blown away by the fact that these XP threads have been on the front page for two days and no one from ZoS has said anything....

    It doesnt take much to go level a VR2 toon and realize it is no where near "faster" as patch notes indicated.
    Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
    Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
    Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
    Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
    Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
    Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
    Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    I agree... I could see how a mistake could of been made; we are all human after all.

    I just hope that we can get the issue resolved sooner rather than later. I was all excited to jump back into playing!

    This is a repost, but it looks like this is going to be the main thread for this topic, so though I'd share:

    With the long term goal (Champion System) being to remove Veteran Ranks entirely, isn't the XP we're gaining right now technically going toward Champion Points?

    The rate at which you progress through the Veteran Ranks now doesn't really matter, because you're still building XP which is invested in the Champion System. We don't yet know how much XP will be required to gain Champion Points or otherwise progress in that system.

    In other words, I think that any perceived slow down in our progression due to this update is artificial because the Veteran Ranks are being phased out. Consider it to be growing pains as we work towards the next phase of the transition.

    This doesn't account for the fact that the patch notes stated VR progression is now expected to be faster - that part is still questionable. But, I believe this explains how the current issue with XP gains is not a long term problem.

    I am upset about the change in experience rewards as well.

    I am currently VR13 and sure I now only need 1.4 million experience to VR14 compared to the 5+ million veteran points I needed before the patch, but at the same time the gain of experience compared to what I need to level is much lower than the veteran points I needed.

    Before patch I would for example get 37.000 veteran points for a boss kill in either open world or dungeon. Now I get around 500 experience points.
    I needed 5+ million veteran points to level, getting 37.000 per kill, meaning I would have to kill about 135 bosses. Now I need 1.4 million experience and I get 500 per boss kill, meaning I would have to kill 2800 bosses!

    Before patch I would get around 100.000 veteran points for completing a quest in a Craglorn dungeon. Now I get 7500 experience points.
    So before I would have to do 50 dungeon quests to gain a level, now I have to do 187.

    This is not okay!
