I am sure you can pick a racial style for your weapon and/or shield that will compliment your chosen colour scheme.

@KariTR‌ You do realize racial styles all use the same color scheme per item level, right? E.g. no matter the racial style, all VR12 Items are deep blue... (the higher the quality the bluer)

Not entirely true. Level 30 Bosmer medium armor is mostly green, whereas most other medium armors around that level are either tan or dark brown. Argonian heavy armor and weapons almost always have a different color scheme from the rest. So, even though your chances of finding something that compliments your scheme are slim, it's still possible, but even so, I don't consider that an adequate solution.

If I want to use an Altmer shield with my green and white color scheme, it needs to be able to match. Silver and gold (or black and gold) doesn't exactly do it for the scheme, and changing my entire color scheme around one item is pretty lame.

I may need to clarify I was only referring to VR items. Agree with the rest of your post.

My point exactly. If you wanted to customize your look your basically stuck with choosing an entire set of the same to avoid color clash. choosing pre made sets may be the definition of customization for some, but it sure the hell is not for me.

All this fear about horrid color schemes.. They are already here. These are some of the crappy looks I have to deal with. There is your pink for you. It was not done by me but the game developers themselves. There you have it. Now let me have my custom colors so I can make things right.

What would be really cool is if we could customize the shield to look like a guild crest similar to how they did in the middle ages.

Instead of, or in addition to tabards. I've been thinking about that as well.

Right. Let's say your guild colors are white and blue. You may be able to add your guild symbol to the shield but since you can't change the colors to match...
    set and point.

Ya just what we need...pink swords...no thank you.

We already have those... haven't you seen Calcinium weaponry?

I wouldn't mind not being able to dye actual weapons (that doesn't even make sense), but they SHOULD allow us to change the color or QUIVERS at least. Seriously, most quivers are totally different color than your gear even when crafted with the same racial style and rarity. There are a few exceptions along the way, but not too many. (lvl 16 altmer blue bow fits lvl 16 blue orc/nord sets)

What's a bow without it's arrows? A quiver a bow and it's arrows are essentially one item. Thus being able to color your quiver is essentially coloring that weapon. You want to be able to do this? Support the move to have tint-able weapons and shields.

That certainly isn't true for lower levels, but the highest armours I have crafted myself have been VR7, so I shall have to take your word for it for the VR12 stuff.

However, even if it were true I was talking about weapons and armour, which most certainly are different colours and patterns dependent on style used.

I would prefer they not be in the game at all as far as weapons and shields are concerned. But I can tolerate changing of the handle and guard to a variety of schemes.

I draw the line at changing the color of the actual blade itself, especially if the pallet is of the same variety of the armor dyes. I might even make an exception too that if the availability of colors range from brown to grey to shades of black.

Full metallic colours would need to be available, from yellows representing gold and bronze colours, through your grey and blacks, with rusty reddish-browns.

I would also add greens to represent the glass weapons of older games as well.
    Also blues for Stahlrim weapons.

Most of the default shields i find end up matching my default armour. So yes, once i colour my armour i would also like to match my shield. As for my weapon, i do not care.

Even if it's just the hilts/shafts of weapons. I think people who care a lot about making dyed armor pieces are going to want to make themes.

I could see a shield dyeable because a lot of them did have designs on them. A weapon, not so much.

this would look horrendously silly. People running around with pink swords and green shields

But you're ok with pink armor???

Look if you don't want people running around in pink then start a thread asking for pink to be taking off the color chart. Ill even sign your thread as I think it's kind of silly to, but don't try to stop more customization because you don't like one color, Try to stop that color from being an option. ;)

Colored armor makes sense.. Colored weapons really don't..

Weapons are already colored. Why not custom colors?

My Ancient Elf sword changes color from green/blue to black depending on the angle and light; tis quite pretty. I also just crafted a wicked black Daedric sword with gold-tinged highlights.

Pretty much my reasoning. This is a fantasy world, coloured weapons and shields makes as much sense as anything else in the game.

I can only hope that they are waiting to see how we handle dyes for armour and if they are ok, they'll give use weapon dyes and shield dyes too.

Are shields currently not dyeable? I knew about weapons, I just assumed shields would be considered armor... Plus, shields were usually painted in medieval times, cuirasses were not.

And yes, I'm all for dyable weapons and shields. Maybe with a reduced amount of available colors for weapons (steel gray, obsidian black, silver and gold). I'd just be happy if my sword weren't blue...

Current PTS does not have dying for shields. :(

Well, I never said it had anything to do with the point, I just found it interesting. The clothing (or lack thereof) you have your character wear is your decision alone, friend.

Edit: I do think that coloring weapons is the best way to achieve uniformity though. It's hard to get a nice red and black look if your sword is green and your shield is brown.
