Custom color weapons and shields

Why? we already have dyed weapons in the game. at vet 12 i have blue and gold weapons. at vet 14 i have black and red. What difference does it make if a player wants to make his black and red weapon match his green and black armour?

You had a point with the Pink thing, but when faced with the pretty obvious and logical reply "don't try to stop more customization because you don't like one color, Try to stop that color from being an option." you have now expanded your argument to an absurd level.

The problem is that weapons and shields have always been ornately decorated IN REAL LIFE all along. You can't get any more "realistic" than that.

Now, most warriors, soldiers and kings didn't die their tools pink.

But we are HEROES of Tamriel, I don't think we would be walking around with a plain grey sword.

Anyway....real world history basically contradicts your entire premise.

There is no difference between dyeing weapons, shields and armor. Give us the option and let us decide Zenimax. As a guild leader, we have come up with a guild color theme. But we cant use it because we cant dye our weapons and shields. Fixit now Zenimax!

Yes, and only about three people would do that, the rest of us (myself included) just want to fix the look of our weapons. I have Calcinium swords at the minute, they look like rusty steel swords (sort of), I just want to dye them Windhelm Steel, or maybe dye them Black like ebony swords used to look.

Except, of course, there are already some pretty weirdly colored swords in the game. I'd be no more offended by a hot pink sword than I am by the sickly mint green one I've actually seen. Swords need to look like METAL. Regardless of how "special" they are!

^ I made some V14 sword and shield and upped them to epic. Now they're some fugly looking fuscia already. His point can't stand when the default ones are as bad as could be possibly made already. I would also be using this feature to dye my weapon to a more metallic color.

I usually don't find many of the Dwemer style materials, but recently I was able to craft a first item: a staff for my main. I couldn't find any pictures on the internet yet, so I had to craft it "blind". I was expecting it to have the typical Dwemer colors (brass/golden). Well, I was wrong.
The staff is, depends on the light, dark dirty purple, and the top is dark dirty green. It doesn't even remotely look like any kind of Dwemer item, and it also doesn't match the colors of my armor. And I definitely don't want to change my armor's colors to match the staff...

My other characters, except for the NB, are all using a staff as well (yes, also the DK ). Mostly they are light-brown with some pink or purple sections inbetween. Doesn't match f.e. any red dyed armor. It's a pain in the a... the eyes.

So yeah, I really would like to be able to dye weapons (and shields, of course).

I really want to be able to apply dyes to shields and weapons as well, there are so many issues with it right now.

For example, my covenant templar is wearing all this nice, shiny silver platemail... but because I improved his sword and shield to blue-quality, they both appear gold. I'd really prefer them to have a silver/steel appearance to match the armor.


Of course it may be necessary to limit the options for weapons and shields - only metallic, wood, and leather-ish colors would be available for the most part. I do think, however, that the grips and accents of such items could have more colors accessible. For example, if you're wielding a staff the shaft should only have wood-like or metal-like colors available, but the grip/handwrap section should be open to cloth or fabric colors (red, blue, green, pink, whatever) and any 'crystals' or 'gems' in it should be open to those colors as well.

That people have always customised the look of armour and weapons.

And those fanatsy inspired hues are the main problem for us, if we have a ridiculous colour for a metal weapon, then we should be able to choose which ridiculous colour.

Personally I would go for metallic colours, or pastels, and eskew purple and pink, but hey everyone has a different opinion on this.

Oh I completely agree with letting us change colors - to any color in fact. The post I quoted (if I was interpreting it correctly) seemed to suggest that weapon blades were all the same color in medieval times and thus we should be confined to to those colors.

The ores and racial alloys vary in color so much that any color should be available. Especially when the most useful ores are colored.

No, the word is Ironic, saying one thing whilst meaning another definately comes under ironic. Trust me on this, I'm British, we get irony (and sarcasm too). (clarification, those of us who read get irony, not the ones who appear on Reality TV)

Though to be fair Sarcasm would be the next choice if "Irony" didn't exist.

Lets push this Thread. Some fear about pink Swords if we can colour Weapons too, how about this Option?

1.) Weapons get only a few Colours for choose, like Steel and Silver or Gold, maybe Black. So we dont will have any Pink Weapons, Problem solved. But we can choose more Details to fit the Weapons to our Armor then.

The Options to colour Shiels will come, i am sure. Dont forget, they count as an Armorpiece in the Crafting Section, and Armor we can dye now. To add a Crest on them, like the Guild Tabards is a fantastic Idea.

No selfmade Crest, because the Possibility to create insane Crests is to much then. But some Options to choose like the Guilds could do, would be nice.

So a big YES to colour Shields and Weapons .

Yeah, that's what most of have been saying, but add bronze or brass to the list, because Dwemer weapons were always a brass/bronze/gold colour and some of us liked the look (especially with Dwemer motifs out)

Personally I would like to see weapon dyes... maybe not for the blade color, but hilt/shaft and so on... that I would like to match to my armors color scheme.

Shields on the other hand really should have full coloring to match the armor, but in addition I would also enjoy an option to add some heraldry... be it guild or personal. (Darn, now I wonder why there are no dragonknights in black dyed armor with red boarheads on their tabards on small bridges in cyrodil shouting "none shall pass"...)

Historically a lot of weapons got decorated by those who could afford to, as pictured, I see no real reason not to add two more coloring slots for what our characters hold in their hands... though of course it would take more coding. Still, once they get theough whatever they have cooking at this time... one can hope!
