mediocre ES game, worst MMO i've played.

I wouldn't say it's mediocre, the real word is "different". This MMO is much better RPG than all others ever made, this is what makes it special for me.

I can understand there are some that don't like it for the very reason it doesn't feel much like others, doesn't play like the others. It's actually sharing very few similarities with other MMOs.

My question is, why do you even bother playing something different?

Please just go back to your MMO, I'll continue playing my MMORPG.

No mate, real word isn't "different". That is the word most of us hoped it'd be, which isn't the case.

If you are a player who loves:
    • Leveling to 50 and then redoing that non-sense twice over, with elevated difficulty, in a game which is completely group-play-alien,
    • Guild features that lack in every normative (including but not limited to, guild ranks, guild bank, guild activities such as guild quests, guild progression overall)
    • Bank features that are buggy like hell
    • Unbalanced economy , which is intentionally designed so - including, again, but not limited to, mount prices, gold drops, rewards earned etc etc
    • So called endgame - aka post-50 content - which is just the refactoring of the same content across all factions and calling it fun - I call it lame and lazy game design
    • A sub-game - which I am fond of, as a biz model - which is more money-oriented than most of the F2P, P2W games out there, are.
    • A game which can't even manage credit card transactions, always putting the amount of subscription ON HOLD for a month, before it actually even starts to charge for it - considering E-commerce is like 20 yrs old practice, failing this big in that area, I can't call it anything positive, being software developer myself.

and list can go on and on. This game has so many tiny and big flaws in it, and I am totally not counting notorious bugs and FPS issues - if I realized these problems during that last Beta I joined, I wouldn't have wasted time and money on this game, any time sooner than six months into its launch.

So it's not 'different' because it has bugs, a poorly handled subscription system and allows you to experience content on one toon that normally (in any other game) you'd only see if you rolled 2 more alts?

Wow. Out of that list there, only one thing actually relates to the MMO gameplay, and that is the guild features.

I understand being angry at something, but honestly, it sounds like you're angry at their customer services, their business analysts and the sub-model rather than the game itself.

Actually never had to deal with their Customer services. And I already stated that I am pro-sub. Plus a product should always be weighed as a whole, not just by one cool side of it. As a gaming software, ESO is a partially (60+ percent partially) failed project.

I've always thought an ESO game would be a good idea, however as many have pointed out the product delivered is definitely not what everyone assumed and wanted.

    * The armors are lackluster, and some it's downright obvious were intentionally not given proper QA or even a design phase "Daedric" being the main failure, but there are many many more.

    * The Developers promised a character development system to rival that of the other TES games, and then added very restrictive unbalanced classes.

Despite what "some" people say, a resto staff does not make you a healer. It simply makes the rest of your class's abilities pointless If your not a Templar. Can you heal? Sure. Is that the point? No.

Same goes for any class wanting to be a mage by equipping a destro staff. It still makes 80%-90% of your class skills pointless. Unless your a sorcerer. Or a Templar, and even then what about your other skills?

    * I wont mention end game because it's being worked on.

So the real question should be, Is this game as a generic MMORPG worth subscribing to?, The answer to this is yes. It's a decent MMORPG, with some new and innovative ideas attached to it, good story line and lots of immersive lore.

Is this an actual TES game? No it isn't.
Was it falsely advertised as such? Yes it was

So is this as an Elder Scrolls Game worth subscribing to?

No, it isn't, because it's lacking the very core features which make an TES game, a TES game.

Actually Tera Onlines Combat system is where ZOS got the idea from. TERA Online was the first MMORPG to have a "True Action "Targetless" Combat system, and it still trumps ESO by a mile (In more then one area). Tera Online is unfortunately even as an F2P game a much higher quality and more professionally designed MMORPG, then ESO in it's current state.

On MMORPGs worth playing (Based on Features alone) you have the following list (Going to keep this to fantasy MMORPGs):

    1. Tera Online - Everything ESO should be, without the Lore and "Unique" Class system. Probably the most successful F2P MMORPG game as well, with the best F2P system.

    2. ESO - Because it's new still and I am giving the devs the Benefit of the doubt that they will fix it and change it into an actual TES game. ESO "can" be the best. If the Studio would simply stop trying to do their own ***, and actually make it a TES game.

    3. WoW - Because it's a Successful MMO with a ton of features, but personally... I fraken hate it.

    4. Rift - No comment but metacritic says its good

    5. Aion - Classic game here lots of interesting mechanics and features.

I definitely would. I would not, however, be so quick with the Imperial edition. To echo others here, 1-50 is great. VR content is empty and boring (despite the fact that I'm soloing most VR public dungeon bosses with little trouble). Quite frankly, I'm only playing it for the skillpoints\story.

Cyrodill, however, has great potential. A lot of fixing ahead, still.
