VR wasn't in the open beta, so if it was in closed then you were lucky, had I suffered from it I wouldn't have bought.

I wasn't trying to sound hostile. If I did, I apologize. I was just curious what keeps people here if they think the game isn't worth playing. I thought they'd have left soon after their first "free" month ran out. Even if you're unhappy with the state of the game right now, you must have enjoyed your past experiences with ESO. Why else would you pay for half a year of sub?

I dread the veteran ranks, but I'm having a lot of fun with content below 50 on three alts, so I'd buy ESO again for this alone.

But I think I understand you a little bit better now. It's not as much about not having fun as not having enough fun compared to invested time and money. Expecting it to even out in the long run, but not seeing the changes you need.

Most of the problems with this game can and are being fixed. You should ask this question again when the game's first year anniversary rolls around.

As someone who has never cared once about 'end game', I would absolutely buy it again. To me, it is basically 3 games in one. Different characters for different alliances.

Not sure it has the longevity that most MMOs aspire to achieve. Even the best games grow tiresome after awhile if new content or randomization doesn't keep it fresh.

I knew going in that as an MMO it wasn't going to have level-scaling, and therefore wouldn't be a open world game like the single player games.

I will have to wait and see where the next "road ahead" looks like its going. If all the new content releases are going to be V12+, then there won't be much point to me hanging around. For me the game begins and ends with the 1-50 content. They need to add additional 'alternative' content if they want me to advance into the veteran ranks. Re-playing old content that is best done on other characters and classes is not at all appealing.

I would definitely buy it again. Still enjoy it, still can't wait to play it when I have time. Am taking my time levelling and have no interest beyond level 50, but still would buy it again.

In the case of subscription MMOs 'retention' is the key word, in order to be viable long term a game has to keep a significant number of players paying for a long time.

Unless a game is going to be in the WOW category, where numbers of players increase for several years, then the usual pattern is the largest numbers of players the game has is a launch or shortly after .. the latter won't apply to ESO due to the horrendously bad PR the game generated in the weeks after its launch unless console sale prove to be another large influx which seems highly in the balance IMO at the moment.

It bound to be true, though since we don't have the numbers to know for a fact, that the number of players now is a lot less than it was at launch. The issue for ZOS is whether there are enough currently to sustain it because new player numbers aren't likely to grow in a WOW-like progression.

That's why 'retention' is vital to ZOS and given the type of player that ESO likely attracted .. large numbers of TES fans for whom this was their first MMO, or else casual "play as you like" players .. I think post-50 is a big turn-off and the last content update and the next one simply pander to the trivial minority of hardcore PVEers who certainly aren't large enough in number to sustain this game for long on their own.

Even though I hate the VR levels with a vengeance, just the opportunity to play three characters from 1-50 in mostly different content makes it easily worth the money to me.

ESO is not a bad game. It really isnt. But I just cant see myself becoming invested in at this point, which mean that it was pointless to begin with. Had I known this when contemplating on giving ESO a chance... I would not have bothered, no. That said, I dont really regret my time playing either. Been just as much fun as it has been annoying.

I would not have bought the game, I had mixed feelings when the beta ended, and was up in the air, but decided to take a chance, while the PVE was a great part of the game, there were many disappointments that indicated to me that this game could have used another 6 months of development or a longer beta period there were too many issues that were in beta that were still in the release.

While the game is very nice graphically as well, I don't the forced limitation of the console on the PC. While I don't mind having to work with a limited amount of keys it does tend to cookie cutter style of play. So that says you can play your own way as long as you have the same build for everyone.

I am willing to play out my Sub to see if this game gets better. But so far, MEH.

This is what worries me because I wish ESO a long life as a sub game. I intended to be playing it for years and took out a 6 month sub. But in the end I found I wanted more from a game than basically going from fight to fight. 1-50 the faction story is great. But as story is important to me I just cannot go along with it from that point onwards, particularly if all it offers is the sort of over-tuned challenge that when combined with the build issues, makes it boring to play.

I'm letting my sub lapse but will have got my money's worth. I hope enough subs remain to keep the game going.

Actually my opinion has changed in the last couple of weeks - the gameplay has gotten less and less responsive during the last 2 patches and its close to unplayable for me, especially in groups. Mainly its the skills not firing issue and generally lag have gotten much worse.

Before the last few days I'd never seen anything that I'd put down to lag, beyond a very infrequent lag spike, but especially yesterday doing an Anchor most of the fight there was clearly lag from skills, instances where mobs and characters were still showing long after they'd gone, etc.

Have to admit, yesterday was the first time I'd seen significant lag. My character would attack a mob, freeze along with the mobs, and then suddenly my character would have really low health, surrounded by twice as many enemies as when the fight started. It was bizarre.

I haven't played the game in over a week. I keep coming back to the forums to see if the specific problems I have are still being addressed and brought up by the player base. I would totally play this game if they fixed the forced soloing problem. Otherwise, I refuse to pay a monthly fee for what is essentially a single player game with some really crappy teaming mechanics thrown in.

Couldn't have worded it better. When we unsubscribe (assuming the developers haven't fixed it by then), I'll drop by on the forums from time to time to see if they've unscrewed that particular mechanic. If they finally do, I would gladly resubscribe.

Every business needs to hear what once, future or soon to be ex-customers think. Now, among other things they know that there is an unacceptable issue with stamina, that a lot of people hate VR enough to quit paying and that NB's don't work.

None of which seems to have been picked up in the long test period.

Only Zen know what the sub numbers look like against their various income projections but if the figures look bad then the forums are one place to begin looking for reasons.

And we can see they are responding to issues raised. How effectively they are responding we don't know yet.

It's the 'everything is perfect so shut up and GTFO' people who hurt the game.

I would not buy for the simple reason that I am unable to progress my character in dungeons, and for the fact that my friends all cancelled.

Have some gaming buddies back from DAOC. We play all the new MMOs just for a hoot, and always focus on the group content - instances - and PvP. We make our levels that way and usually minimize the solo stuff like questing. We had high hopes for ESO.

We were literally dumbstruck discovering that we were getting almost no XP for completing dungeons. They were fun, and we did them repeatedly. We didn't care about loot, just the fun-ness. We thought for sure the minimal XP was a bug, and submitted reports LOL. Then our jaws fell out of our mouth and slammed the floor after learning that this was done by design - by design! Then we PvP'd and kept getting further behind because the XP for PvP was pretty poor. My friends were pissed that they put down good money on ESO to discover that their common manner of playing MMOs with a focus on group content was not supported.

We could not believe that only one path for character advancement was essentially available - questing, which we found a bore. (Note that none of us reached Vet content, and we refused to grind in the open world.)

The nail in the coffin for my friends was discovering so called Vet content comprised doing the same quests in the diff factions. We were already playing 2 diff factions for the extra fun, and could not imagine having to repeat the same quests.
