Hey Lucifer, guess what? English means website language, not forum sections. And maybe the French and German folks *want* to see the English?

Just because youre used to Europe being shoved off to their own site doesnt mean tjis game is going to do it.

    Nice idea, even for computers.
Hence my giving you an Awesome.

So its been two weeks. Please add a "back to top" button : / scrolling on my phone is annoying lol.

Well if I wanted to see that stuff then I would have clicked on German or French. But since i don't speak German French, and I'm not going to learn them just to read that crap, I don't NEED to see it so it doesn't NEED to be there.

By the same token, if German and French people want to see English, they mearly have to click on the English button and they can see all they want. I just took what other people were talking about and put it into pictures because the forum managers were not getting what they were saying, if you had bothered to read previous posts.

We recognize that the current multi-lingual design is one of the most frequent complaints people have for our forums, and improving this situation is a top priority for the redesign.

At the same time, we don't want any solution to marginalize the French and German communities, or make it difficult for polyglots to interact in multiple communities.

With all of this in mind, we believe the system being worked on will alleviate the problem without introducing new ones. It is still in development, however, and we do not have an ETA for it launching to the public. We may tweak the structure in the meantime if we feel we can improve accessibility and usability without making the front page unmanageable, but it's already rather long.

    Good to hear, Alan.

Most games have a bad habit of shuttling the EU to a completely different website/forum and Ive got a feeling thats what some of the complaints are about.

Thats why I take offense to it. Looking over it and ignoring it isnt hard.

Yeah, I agree a lot of games do seperate EU from US players on forums, then people say stupid things like "look everyone thinks like Americans" on them.

Keeping the EU ands US players together keeps cultural diversity alive, ie we know our cultures are different, but can try to get along anyway.

You have to remember that cultural diversity is not a high priority in the gamer community in the U.S. [snip] Personally I think the forum format is fine but maybe it's because I grew up in a biligual household.

Hey, here is an idea - Why not look at how MOST forums are set up and set this one up like those? Because that is how MOST people are used to having them set up. Because this forum is just plain weird. It's like sitting in an upside-down chair or something.

The colors are way to bright, the menus are in strange places, the organization of where stuff is placed is bad, the topics are a mess.

And you just don't get what people are saying about the language problem.

When you click on the English button -
ALL YOU SHOULD SEE ANYWHERE ON THE SCREEN IS ENGLISH!!!
(This should also apply for when you click on German or French buttons as well)

I am Swedish, and as long as I can see the english posts from all english. Both EU and US, I happy. The current system is ok. Can be better, but you working on it so no complains to me! I find info I am looking for.

Suggestion regarding the LOL option and LOL badge

In May and early June, these badges had no purpose or meaning.
Today, they are starting to be very useful.

Forums are growing as community, and you do get an overview of posts with these tags on them.

However, the LOL option is misleading. Because some LOL are for funny posts in a good way. And some are LOL, in negative way and means more "this post is so wrong/stupid/silly that LOL also applies.

We need a way to separate these, because you can look at a user and get a good overview about them and their posts. The number of LOLs does not show why there is a LOL, like "agree".

I take myself as an example, I have LOTS of lols, and I am sure majority of them is not a positive LOL. I am not complaining.

If I post and get a negative LOL, it should show. And it will give me correct info of others reactions to my views. I am not always right and its good to know if I'm not! =)

    English, German, and French.

There ARE french and germans who only read the english as well.

What is such a problem with this? Seriously. Welcome to the internet and 2014, where your friends are danish, candadian, south african, chinese and italians.

English simply is one of the most common languages that most countries who uses computers, speaks. I always liked Americans! Not because I am like them, but because they are different and more then happy to speak their minds!
Not something I find a lot in my own country, Sweden.

I don't know if Zenimax are prohibited to say this, but EU has regulations about SOFTWARE that spans between EU counties. ATM "ONLY" English, french and german needs to be available for any software that all EU can use.

A software can be sold in any language as long as its not forced to use a common software, like MMOs are.

Blame EU, not Zenimax. I THINK Zeni simply trying to find a solution that the lawyers can agree to. EU and US are kinda a minor "war" regarding business.

Don't believe me? Ask Microsoft what they think of EU (not the countries and people, but the EU union.)

Id rather not see the french and german Id rather have an option to hide it.
Im swedish but since I can read german and english my brain almost explodes when trying to read german with an english mindset, or english with a german mindset. I get confused and have to stop and first look what language Im reading, then go on to read the text, its very annoying.
Edit: french I can filter out quickly because it is illegible to me.

Option to hide is a good way is it not?
Default to show all, option to "hide german", "hide french", "hide english" at the account form.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

This is the only Topic I could find relating to the ESO Forum structure and function, so I'm reporting a bug with Notifications here.

Since the release of Patch 1.2.4 I unsubscribed to the discussion topic for v1.2.3. However, my Profile updates still show new posts in the v1.2.3 topic, even though the star is removed, indicating I'm unsubscribed.

In addition to posting this here, should I also submit a Support Request on the Help Portal?

Um, isn't that the whole point of letting people choose their forum language? This has been pretty standard web stuff for 20 years, so it's not like you're charting new territory here. You're also not marginalizing anyone by doing it.

Greetings, my apologies for not reading through the bulk of this thread - I'm afraid I just don't have the time.

I understand an ignore feature is being considered. I'd please ask for this once again.

I just don't have the time to remember which folks on the forums have an agenda, who is conducting "social experiments" and so forth and so on. And I would like to contribute in constructive conversations, where I can.

However, the constant back and forth, the "meta" posters and so forth make it simply too time consuming and annoying to do so. I, for one, would very much appreciate an "ignore" feature, whereby you can simply ignore a person's posts and comments moving forward. Let them have their discussion the way they enjoy it, and others can focus on the things they find useful.

    Thanks very much.

I understand where you are coming from on the request for an ignore feature, and we are *probably* thinking of the same individuals, but consider this: A lot of the info up here would be taken fully out of context if this were to be implemented.

Forums are for feedback, after all. Both positive and negative. The doors *must* be left open at all times, even during the frustrating times.

@ZOS_AlanG‌ , Instead of an ignore feature, I would like to suggest a couple of additions to the "Flag" pulldown: "Report for flaming", and "Request moderation of this post".

I personally have never seen an ignore feature on a forum.
I believe that is for good reason: it would segregate the community into non - communicative "blocks", rather than fostering the community menatlity. We do have rules here, as well as moderators and community managers for a reason. Let us have the opportunity to request their assistance in enforcing the terms, and guidelines of these forums. Then we should not need an ignore feature.

You say *must*, but that is an opinion.

We have had a more fleshed out report feature in the past. It didn't work. Much as the "Disagree" approach did not. Self moderation doesn't seem to work, not in this format.

We have an ignore feature in the game. It works.

Forums are for discussion, not just for feedback. That discussion is being completely overrun with acidic discussions of the development team and angst one way or another. An ignore feature allows them to vent all they like without having to wade through it.

Brass tacks, most people will, and likely have already written off much of the forums. This has a fair chance at helping just a bit to defray that trend.

--edit, simplified some. Hopefully less abrasive.

@GTech_1‌ I have to agree with @Riptide‌ here. Consider it this way: there are, what, like 7 billion people on this planet? I'm never going to like all of them. I'm not even going to like all of them that aren't criminals. There are just some people with whom I choose not to interact. The ability to report the post does not aid this. Neither request moderation, nor report, nor flag will remove these people from my orbit, so to speak. Ignore, on the other hand, allows people who feel like they need to vent, rage, whine or whatever, to do so without becoming a nuisance to those who'd rather avoid it.

Most ignore functions allow the user to have a peek at what the ignored poster wrote after-all, using a small "click here" link on top of the ignored post. That will usually open all of that user's posts in that thread/on that page and just close again on the next page/next thread.

The ignore function would be per person, so as an example, if I put Riptide on ignore, you can still read his posts uninhibited. I would just pass over his posts, unless someone quotes him, or I peek in.

(No, I am not active enough on these forums to consider putting anyone on ignore. Any BOINC project, that's a different story. :))
