Another communication problem is devtracker (here) is horrible and has always been horrible and hasn't been fixed yet.

And little is more annoying than clicking on the ZoS logo in a thread just to find our its a "a please be nice" comment.

Thats good news. DK rage is incoming I'm sure as the notes state that they are still able to kill mobs and will be further weakened.

Simple approach and, I hope, not too negative.

They should have an official thread to update us on general issues and 'state of the game' type stuff on the news forum every week.

They should maintain a list of acknowledged bugs that are in their queue and a list of non-bug gameplay 'issues' that are being reviewed PLUS possibly a list of things that we may think are bugs but are not.

Put that all together and keep it current and it reduces unhappiness and. Cuts out repeat threads of people raging on known issues.

'My ability is bust' - yeah, it is on the bug list and being worked on.
'Game is laggy' - yup its an engine issue and due for a full fix as soon as we can.
'My axe only hits for 1000 damage' - that is by intent and not a bug

    Etc etc.

There will always be angry posters but good info rarely makes people more angry.

This cesspool is a product of their own making. You can't blame their lack of posting on the current environment when they created it in the first place due to their lack of posting and sticking to their own plans.

    You're views are interesting.

What a world we live in that people feel this entitled. They are not forcing you to play.

I suppose Zenimax should add a countdown timer for each patch on their website. For the people who can't just read something once and get it

How much more communication do people want? At this rate you whiners will be wanting their home phone numbers. We have updated sticky threadsm. Monthly updates for future content, devs on reddit, twitter, fan pages, etc.

Just ridiculous how some of you want so much

How about when they post a planned maint and then plan to skip it let us know HERE. When they plan a content patch on a non-scheduled day post it HERE. When they schedule a maint and then take the server down hours before the plan post that HERE. How about instead of communicating on twitter, reddit, fan pages and whatever social media BS is the one of the day post that crap HERE on THEIR forums.

How is it rediculous to want them to communicate on their forums instead of random social media? How is it rediculous for them to stick to their announcements and let us know about changes to them? How is it rediculous for them to tell us on their communication forum that they plan to skip the scheduled maint and plan to push a patch tomorrow isntead of us searching through reddit hoping to run accross it.

Why even have a forum if your going to post to random social media sites first?

This is a rather spurious case - they need our subs to make money and get paid, so since they cannot force us to play it makes sound business sense to build a solid positive relationship with customers.

Equally as paying customers we do have some entitlement to be kept informed if they want us to carry on being customers.

If you have much real world experience you will know that paying customers expect and normally get service, if not they go elsewhere.

So while rudeness to CS is unhelpful your approach is equally unhelpful because it suggests they carry on with the sort of arrogance towards customers that only vast monopolies can get away with.

We paid for their game, not communication. They don't NEED to say anything to be able to keep to that contractual agreement.

MMOs are a dime a dozen that don't communicate at ALL. I'd say this company is doing a damn good job (minus posting some information other places and not here)

so their communication in general is not the problem, only problem is posting information like when a patch is coming other places before here (which this is the first time i've seen them do that)

I agree. I don't think the game or ZoS is bad off. I'd just like to know information like that here, rather than reddit. But it wasn't like they announced it there. They answered a question there. In retrospect, it should have just been announced here to begin with prior to nothing happening today. But it is what it is.

They do not have any legal obligation to do more... But in competitive markets the companies who use this approach tend to lose out to the companies that make their customers feel good about buying their products or services.

We continue to pay for the further implementation of this product, therefore we are entitled to communication on how that implementation will proceed.

If other MMOs are worse, so what? I'm not paying for them, I'm paying for this one. If you're in the military and your buddy is guilty of dereliction of duty, that doesn't excuse your from being derelict in your own duties.

We invest our time and our money into this product. Investors are entitled to regular reports.

I think it's good they use both reddit and the forums. Forums are kinda for official, set in stone announcements. Reddit is more for unofficial, keeping us informed kinda stuff. Everybody has access to both.

Also good to see they delayed the patch today if that is what was needed.

Hey there, everyone. What Jessica said is correct - we are tentatively scheduled to release update v1.2.3 starting tomorrow. That said, we are still testing the build and want to wait until we're completely sure it passes before announcing the maintenance. We should have news for you very soon, and we'll message it out as soon as we know!

Good to see you guys learned something from the crag patch "mishaps". :)

Lol I seriously doubt that. I think their QA only exists to confirm an exploit is in before release.

If you haven't noticed, they haven't been posting here as much as they used too and I don't blame them.

This forum has become a cesspool of people who have nothing better to do then post non-constructive bashing of ESO instead of being constructive in the criticism and then go back to enjoying other parts of the game until what they want fixed is fixed.

It is not like there isn't other stuff to do in this game, and before you say "I shouldn't have to switch to... blah blah blah"... I am a DW/Bow NIGHTBLADE, I have more room to gripe then most of the people on this forum but you know what? I already put in my two cents, found that they are working on it and left it be and am still enjoying this game a LOT due to having that perspective.

yes its completely reasonable to ignore your customers cos you dont like what some of them have to say... great business model. try running a shop and only selling to folk you like.

i dislike plenty of folk i have to work with but i would never have them know that or feel that i was offering them a lesser service because of that.

This isn't where they go to make friends, this is where they should be going to post updates and news related to this game's design and engineering. They are paid to do this, post updates, and aren't even required to engage users here. MMO players are universally critical and jeering, where have you been the last two decades? This is why Redditors have no place, well... anywhere.
Your rights (even as a paying subscriber with valid expectations) end where my feelings begin, and invalidate that I am paid a middle class wage to be here.
    t. Every Redditor, ever.

Tl;dr customer service sucks, whether it's for a generous premium in a PR position at a large company, or for 12k a year at a gas station. Bemoan it all you like, but Zarhym at WoW's official forums was an excellent example of how to connect with your playerbase. You don't furtively post vital, relevant news at obscure virtual locales and beget your own official forums. See, she shared this news, and even despite the OP, there are many, many players still in the dark. Why did OP have to do this in ZOS' stead?
