Do you help other players and just walk on by?

I don't see it as 'helping' but rather being part of a (truly massive) group with the same goal. I really admire how Zen have structured the game to be played as a group without the need of a party mechanic.

    It isn't always helpful.

Sometimes I'm out testing some new combat sequence or looking at numbers on armour. That might involve me letting a mob burn my health down quite low before I do something about it.

It's kinda annoying to have someone come and 'help' while I'm doing it.

It's amazing how difficult it is to find a quiet spot away from people do test things like that.

I'll help if the person is in trouble, or we are doing the same content. If not, then I let them fight their own battles, as that is what I prefer myself.

It is disappointing to be engaged in a fun fight, only to have someone come along and spoil it.

This. I enjoy a challenging fight and am usually a bit miffed when someone runs up and ganks the mob(s) out from under me. While I appreciate that some folks are wanting to help, most don't have the courtesy to LOOK and see if you actually need it or not. They simply jump in the nearest fight...

Maybe I am alone, but personally I don't like when other people try to join me/help me when doing solo quests or killing mobs worldwide. Dying is a lesson for me how to play better, what weapons abilities to use against different situations.
From the other hand, it is natural for me to join/help others (even if it is not my current goal) in case of: dungeons, dolmens and bosses.

If I see someone being pursued by many mobs and low on health then I switch to healing and help but what really annoys me is that most the time they will just run off and leave me to deal with the mobs which are aggroed from my heals. I have been helped a fair few times myself and I always say thanks.

I always say thanks you after a world boss also but rarely ever get anything back but it makes me feel better for saying it. I think long gone is courtesy in MMO but thats just because they have become mainstream whereas years ago RPGs and MMOs were only played by a select few that was generally civil to each other.

If someone is struggling I will help, if they have it under control i'll keep walking, I quite happily revive other players both PvE and PvP in and out of group if I happen to come across a dead body, altho its very rare I get revived by anyone else even in a dungeon fight

I'm your typical healer player, if I see a health bar lower than 100% I heal no matter who it is :D I have player health bars always showing so if I walk by a person struggling or whatnot I throw a heal and help dps too, maybe even get 1 gold from the mob in return.

If I see someone fighting I will normally pause for a second to see if they have it handled. If they do I leave if they are struggling I will help out as needed.
Also if I have extra soul gems I have no problem reviving someone.

I started the game as temp .. and about the time I got my first healing skill I started to heal wounded ally in the areas. When they fight monsters and get low HP I heal them so they can continue. HOWEVER .. after quite some time I noticed that no one ever gives a [snip] about the heals. NO thank you, NO you saved me, NO nothing. They just continue like if I never existed.

After some time I stopped healing people. Now I just stare at them when they horribly die in the VET content where they acutally really would need heals.

I just heal people if I want the XP from the monster (or loot, or achivement) and I´m not in range for melee combat.

If I see so done in need and my game doesn't freeze/lag on me, I do try to help. And, I love healing players, even if their health is not too bad. I have had someone use a soul gem on me before. Unfortunately, I never have soul gems on me. Otherwise, I would try to use them.

What surprises me is, after I've heloped someone on a quest end fight, and it's my turn to initiate the event, the ones i've just helped turn and run away to carry on with their stuff and leave me to get slaughtered.

If it would be me you would not help me but destroy the fun of fighting a harder mob. So I would run away too.

I'm always annoyed with the "helpers" that join my fight and I always run pass people fighting with mobs that are not quest mobs. It's not that I don't want to help but I assume If you are not asking for help, you don't need it.

I stopped rezzing ppl with soul gems; usually they don't accept the rez anyway, but more importantly I need the gems to charge my weapons and rezzing at a waypoint isn't all that bad most of the time

If i see a fight going on and the mobs heath is high and the players health is low I help, if its the other way around I leave them be, they are handling it. I do resurrect people if i have the gems to do so.

I shouldn't be surprised that other players don't play the same way, but when I see people run towards me, see I am being battered and just watch while I die I am.

I can't count the number of times I've stopped to help an overmatched player (some of my 'toons are pretty low, too,) and as soon as I draw aggro the other player heads out like their butt is on fire, and leaves me to fight the overmatching badguy alone..... Thanks, I really needed to get my armor smashed fighting that thing alone.

I always try to help... I did come across a couple of people who seemed annoyed that I helped. They show this by ineffectually shooting me with their bow or templer spear.

With no nameplates, sometimes other players startle me. I'm SO glad I can't mess up and accidentally shoot them. It was one of the biggest things I worried about going into beta, actually. I can't take followers with me in Skyrim, they get in the way too much.

First time I saw a werewolf pass by me in a city, nearly had a heart attack, and tried to shoot it.

I try to help. If i see someone getting beat up by NPC's i quickly come to aid. Yesterday i came up to a worldboss and someone asked for help (also i needed it still) and we grouped and had fun.

Also i res people depending on how many grands i have. >3 = revive for other (currently i have 18 or so) And mostly i do that during PvP for bith group and non-group members.

But sadly yesterday i was attacked by 2 ghosts which i wasn't prepared for. I was in my char screen looking at armor and i was attacked. I quickly tried to defend and someone was walking past and just looked how i got killed and walked away.

But yeah, i am awesome because i help people. even give out free food and potions if i have some of them with me during PvP or dungeons.

I help everyone I see who needs help. I'll jump in as soon as I see someone who needs help. I know a lot of people who won't but I can't let someone die if I didn't help and people also need to learn to take reviving if people are dead. I try to revive people all the time and they never accept it. I carry stones around just for that.

This i don't understand. I also have this that the revive is declined, even during PvP sometimes. Why? Why? WHYYYYYY?

well I think (not sure though) that if they don't reply to the revive request (because they are afk for instance) within a certain amount of time you automatically get a declined message

Because it kinda feels like charity and some people might feel stupid for someone wasting a stone on them when they feel they shouldn't have run out themselves?

I don't usually have many of those on me, but I have rezzed; and because I'm so poor, I know it's going to be a while before I can pay forward, and I like to pay forward a bit first before .... oh, you know.

It might make some feel stupid and cheap/poor. :)

They said they put a timer on bosses and stuff, but I have no idea how long I have to wait in between visiting different delves for to get the stones.

I think twice about helping because, as some have already said, some people don't want to be helped.

I've joined random invites because the players needed help even though I could solo the content.

If someone wants a field rez, I don't mind as soul gems are easy to fill.

TL;DR - I'll always help if asked but will hesitate if not asked.

One issue in coldharbor is that it has lot of winged twilights and clanfears who look just like the player summons, sometimes a player is fighting an imp and it looks like he is fighting the twilight,

Depends... If I see someone low on health in a fight, I will almost certainly jump in. If I see a person actually get killed in a fight, and not immediately ghost form, then I might use a gem..

Get this... it largely depends on the persons name. If I see someone who actually took the two seconds to give themselves a fantasy name, then I assist as much as I can. If they are named something like 'mudcrab fart', or 'WhosYourDaddy', then no... they get no assistance from me in any form.

Doubly for anybot named 'aksjdflkajs'. I cheer when they go down.

That blablabla was rude. If you want to quote a person, you just delete what is said before the part you want to quote and then leave it.

Typically i like to play alone with the gf. If people are in our way we typically try to wait for them to move along or go a different way. But if it is a public dungeon or something we will hook up with whoever is around and going through it. Just a little quicker.

Although i have been known to hang out and watch people die. Usually only after I've been in the middle of 3-4 mob fight to have said person just run right by me to the quest item and then just stand there. At that point I'm more then willing to watch you fall.

I will go out of my way to help someone. If I see a health bar going down, I usually sprint towards it. I hang out on the sides if they are doing well, but charge in if they are 50% or less. In some areas where there are "control a spider" quests, I let everyone be. I don't want to kill an enemy they need. I bring a full stack of soul gems with me wherever I go, and I use them without thought.

I LOVE walking into a public dungeon, and picking up strangers as I go through and crushing everything in our path. At the end I usually just /nod. One guy saved me from death and I did thank him.

Both situations make this a fun MMO. You all add that wild card that makes things interesting and different each play through.
