Scammed out of 20k for Vampirism

The guy had an innocent sounding name too. He was indeed a vampire. I had done deals like this on mmos for a quite a while without being scammed. But not this time. I of course reported this, but not sure what will happen.

I will say this though, I know the staff can see our logs and transfers. They can verify this happened. If you consider the telephone calls that support gets for stuff that is hardly legitimate, you'd think handling something like this would be worth their time. After all, correcting this wrong would help the community.

We'll see what happens, but I'm not hoping for much.

I'd reveal who the player is, but I'm afraid of getting in trouble for calling someone out. I heard someone say they got in trouble for that once.

Seems reasonable to expect to see your money back and the scammer get some sort of punishment, a suspension perhaps?

Well , i heard in zone chat that a guy got his money back.

While i never heard they punished the guy selling the bite.

Yeah I'd hope so. I mean... if they can indeed see the logs, original EverQuest would enforce stuff like this for substantial money. And that was 1999. Oddly enough they stopped doing it as much later, but they did originally.

I just don't see why people would even enter into this kind of arrangement. You're just asking to be scammed. Common sense, people!

People ask me how they can be sure im not scamming them. So i write to them: I promise to bite you for X amount of gold. Then i ask them to take a screenshot of the chat and report me if i lied.

There's nothing wrong with trusting someone ijRoberts. The guy was clever too. It's not like I didn't talk to him about scamming. Again, in old EQ you could get suspended for saying something extremely vulgar for 3 days. How different would a staff intervention for something like this be?

Tell me this, would you want them to fix it or not? Do you want the game to be a place where you can trust people? I do.

Sure, it would be a wonderful world if we could always trust everyone. But that's not the world we live in.

Sure, it would be great if you could get your gold back. Until then, there are other ways of getting the bites. Join a guild where people work together. Ask in zone chat if someone will bite you (there ARE nice people out there giving them away!).

But until a system is put into place where scammers are punished or there's some kind of trade window for this, no, you shouldn't trust everyone you meet.

YOu shouldn't buy the bite in the first place. If noone would buying them, there would be plenty of mobs to get afflicted from, because profittiers wouldn't get the incentive to kill them on spawn.

Guys, been waiting for Bloodfiends to spawn for a long time now. I kinda gave up for a while. I've checked all the spots in Reaper's March for about 10 days. No luck.

I found bloodfiends and became a vampire very early. When I went to sell my bite the first time, the guy took off without paying after I bit him. I had a screenshot of him confirming what the deal was, and obviously ZoS can check the logs to confirm what happened.

I never received the money for it and, to my knowledge, they never did anything. I know now that the guy scams people out of their money telling them he'll bite them, but then doesn't after they pay him.

A quick search here on the subject could have saved you some headache. It's a quite common scam and there are plenty of threads just like this one.

Can't say i feel sorry for you, paying good gold for something that is freely available seems an odd thing to do ...

I personally block anyone shouting buying bite this selling bite that. Just go find the mob or give it away for nothing. Shame on you.

There's been a bug with the mob spawns. After reset, it resets the moon cycle entirely and the bloodfiends just aren't spawning.

On top of it, vamps are killing them to prevent others from being bitten.

I don't see anything wrong with selling or bying a bite. It has nothing to do with the campers on the spawns. Those are the people who want it for free and there are many. Many people don't have time to wait for hours to get a chance to get bitten. You can only sell 1 bite per week anyway so your not making millions of gold with that.

yep, saw this as far as as EQ... when Mana Burn was all the rage, and wizards were teaming up and holding every single epic mob hostage with it. It ALWAYS results in a nerf, and then those SAME clowns selling the bite are the FIRST ones in line to cry and whine.

Shame on you, really? Yes SHAME ON those that scam others for this, however passing judgement on those that want to provide this service is actually "shameful" on your part. The truth of the matter is, if there WAS NOT a market for it, people would not be selling their bite. It is really a simple rule of supply and demand. I, myself waited 12 days to be biten by a bloodfiend and then spent 3 more leveling the vamp skill to level 6 so I can bite others. There are those that DO NOT wish to camp the spawn for long periods of time to be biten and as such, they will pay a fair price for the service rendered.

As much as you want to force your gaming morality on others, it's not going to happen. As long as you pay for a subscription and do not violate the TOS, you can play the game any way wish.....so don't come here with the "hollier than thou" attitude.

To the people saying it is available for free, that is just false. You are just choosing to spend your time waiting or hoping for the spawn/free bite rather than spend time playing the game and earning gold which can be turned into a bite. Not everyone has hours and hours to spend sitting around camping spawn points. Some people like playing the game. Honestly, whoever decided that vamp/ww bites should happen by a rare random spawn should be fired. It should have always been an optional side-quest available to anyone at anytime if they were appropriate level.

I'm pretty sure that the subscription fee also covers "hollier than thou" attitude.
    That doesn't violate the TOS.

Your argument goes both ways ...

The only reason bites are not available free, is because of people camping and taking the bites, so others cannot get them and are left with no option but to pay, so the campers get their weekly cash drop.

The solution is simple, don't be impatient and don't pay for bites. Then there will be no point anyone camping and hogging the bites for selfish gain.

Do you really think people camp the spawn sites so others can't get bitten? That would be a massive waste of time. That 15k is not that much cash!

It is just common sense to sell a weekly cooldown. But it is not a viable farm situation by anyway you look at it.
