All they are doing is banning characters not the accounts so you will continue to see bots grow till they change there approach. :/

Even if that is all they are doing, I, for one am happy to see some 'boots on the ground' as they say. It may take them a bit to garner a more effective strategy, but the fact that they are showing up speaks for itself.

I was running my crafter earlier and thought someone was making a joke impersonating a GM. Nope, it was an actual GM. They were adressing players in zone chat asking to recieve /whispers over sucpicous activity. And they were asking for /whispers because they were making the rounds of public dungeons.

On another character, I played through 4 public dungeons tonight that were free of bots. Man that was good to see!

I know these outfits are not based in the US but Zenimax needs to throw as much legal weight as possible at them because they are making their filthy money from the hard work that went into making this game - hard work they had nothing to do with.
ZOS have zero legal weight against Chinese-based organisations, their only defense was to design the server software to be resistant to botting .. instead, from the massive botting problem we see with many bot variations the game seems to be defenseless.

ZOS (and we) are now reaping the reward of ZOS' failure to learn from 15+ years of MMO vs. RMT history.

I bet you'll find the GMs are breaking the TOS and account sharing.

I leveled through the 30's this weekend and did not see huge clusters of bots in the dungeons. I did see half a dozen groups of them in the world in out of the way places. At least ZOS is making it tougher for them.

I found something funny as well. If you are around some bots, start typing words like GM, report, and bots. I noticed that they sometimes instantly vanish. Most likely a defense to get their asses out of there before the GM pokes their heads in.

Yeah I noticed that too. After I had filmed them in Emberflint Mine at the weekend I said in "say" chat to the other real humans in the room that I was going to report them. They cleared out after that and there was only one lone bot left on his own.

    hehe >:) Evil idea!
Report them and send them a tell to that they been reported to GM thus they lose some time..... ~evil grins~

It makes no diff if they are log or not, they still can be ban.

Unfortunately, they only kill characters and remove them.

But they DO NOTHING WITH THE ACCOUNT.

When I saw it, I placed all bots on ignore list - and they are still there, I still can whisp them - after a WEEK.

Please do tell me, what good it does, apart from being a publicity stunt?

Anyone noticed the new Bot trick..

Go out into the early zones and you'll find bots standing where resources like Jute spawn and they are just standing there harvesting.. resource spawns, they harvest.. rinse and repeat.. Saw 5x level 3s standing within sight of each other in Stonefalls earlier doing this.

Great. This needs to be a sustained campaign coupled with perma banning gold buyers. Shutting down inter account gold transfers and flagging any suspiciously large, defined as a multiple of the vendor price, store transaction so as to stop gold delivery that way would be good.

But meanwhile it is great to see this.

You are right, clamping down on the gold buyers is essential if we want to see the end of the bots and the spammers.

It's of no use killing the bots they need to perm ban the account's to make any dent in to them.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just stop all Inter account gold transfer? Or perhaps if this is too drastic a measure, have the transferred gold be put on hold for investigation is it's over a certain amount. I know it's a bother, but the Bots have to go! The bots will ruin this fine game

I would hate for it to be impossible to hand my husband a little gold, because same as @EdonilTebaun mentioned previously, I play more than he does. But if that's what I had to face to get rid of the gold spammers I'd accept it. I wouldn't like it, but if that's what it took so be it.

I think several courses of action are required:

Ban the botters and goldsellers - by account
Keep plenty of GMs in game to keep an eye on things - if we can see what is going on then, if they are in the game, they can too
Look for suspicious transactions - flag up large or multiple transfers of money - work towards banning the buyers
Educate potential buyers - I have had several in game mails a day promoting gold selling - not one from Zenimax telling me why it is a bad idea and bad for the game
Work on game mechanisms that help reduce the ability of goldsellers to farm and operate whilst not damaging the gameplay experience of genuine players

A guy got banned for doing just that, it took his GF many days posting on here before ZOS_Jessica took up the case and got her BF un-banned .. so ZOS have form for banning just what you want to do.

I hope they do something about these "invisible" node farmers. Yesterday had 4 nodes disappear in front of me as I was just getting in reach of it.

I am glad to know this is happening. I have reported a few. The bots do however seem to be still camping in the lower level dungeons. You see like 10 characters all standing on top one another with names like aafkshr and iiooopppsss. Luckily I stole a boss out from under the last with which I was in a dungeon. Gotta love range abilities.

You do realise that can (possibly always is) caused by the phasing system where the node is visible in all phases so it's another player farming it. I've seen that three times where a player has phased out and a node he was running to disappeared a few seconds later.

There' are two such nodes in Bleakrock for example which is literally 5 or so steps from a phase-line.

Yes I realize that, but when the people and the action around me doesn't phase out I would think that this would not be the cause, and to have that many in a short period of time ( runes, plants and ore ), makes me think differently, but who knows, at least when I went back to them I could get them.

I was shocked yesterday to find 4 boss spots that were completely empty.
Yeah, I was leveling one of my alts (from level 10) in Auridon yesterday and in one of the dungeons I found myself facing the boss entirely alone... It was actually a good & somewhat challenging fight! I didn't get a blue loot item at the end of that fight, so I hung around and waited for a respawn, by which time one other player had come by and we took him down together. I got my blue, and left. It was great - it felt like the way a dungeon should play.

Just Report every bot you come along, its fast and you can do it in under one minute, approach bot, press F, choose report player.

While i was leveling yesterday in Stonefalls i reported around 12 Bots over multiple hours near Vivecs Antlers. They Dissapeared soon after Reporting ;)
I'm glad you saw some results. When reported a bunch of bots in same zone, I came back over an hour later and they were all still there. At least I now know that it does make a difference in the open world on occasion.
