Eidetic memory bugged to uselessness | gamebreaking [Possible Spoilers]

This is the same response I got from CS..There is no way I'll start that all over and I'll rather let my sub expire than start over. This is not a good response to a problem caused by ZOS themselves.

Can, at least, someone confirm, that it's working with new characters? Existing characters still can't remember anything they read.

I got the exact same response about 10min ago. Very disappointing, I always like reading the books in to Elder Scrolls games, but kinda hard when you are in the middle of a doing a dungeon.

Oh well. Can we at least get a comment here about it?

Yeah, I have this problem too and it's so annoying. It persists. They were able to reimburse my achievements after that long period of time they did not update or register as having advanced any amount towards their completion, so I really hope(d) they could figure out a way to make this work, too...

So much work went into that character.

I started a new character a week before patch 1.3 after a long hiatus. Eidetic Memory is broken with this new character just like it was with my last character.

Wait, so after all this time, they have 'fixed' this bug, but only for new characters and not for our current bugged one's? I only play with one character!

I've created 2 new characters after 1.3 and Eidetic Memory is still bugged to Oblivion on both of them. Progress is indeed being displayed in some categories while others simply reset to 0 when logging out.

the Absolute worst part in finding this out for me in this case is the questing areas with books that I'll never get to revisit meaning my collection will forever be incomplete,

I have been gone a long time and wanted to check if this is still bugged? If it is fixed, is it retroactive or do I need to restart?

About a month passed and I started over with a new character. I must say the eidetic memory is working better now, but far from flawless.

Points worth noting:
- Still no search feature, making it very hard to find the book you want to read with over 2,300 books ingame so far
- Some books are in the wrong category making it even more annoying to find them
- some books have a different name in the eidetic memory than you see in the open world when picking this up (might be a localisation issue, I play with language set to German)

Bugs:
- I came across a few books which still do not unlock
- Books you read from your quest inventory do not get added to the eidetic memory at all --> you have to hope that they spawn somewhere after you completed the quest which often is not the case
- Sometimes these "after quest" spawns are bugged and the books despawn when trying to pick them up or are not interactable at all

--> reaching 100% of the eidetic memory still physically impossible over 1 year after release

You better fix these issues if you want me to spend money on your game, I wont buy any crows, DLC or ESO+ before this is not working flawlessly. You know I am not joking because I took a long break because of this after all and I can do it again.
