Eidetic memory bugged to uselessness | gamebreaking [Possible Spoilers]

Good for the librarian add on, but first off its an add on and not everyone wants to use addons, plus you also have to start a new character if you didnt install it from scratch I guess.
I think its not too much to ask to have a simple feature like this ingame without being bugged like made by an amateur.

Agreed. Like someone mentioned, these sort of achievements are a lot of fun for a certain type of player and I'm quite content to spend time crawling all over Tamriel looking for that one last note that does zero for my character's abilities but ticks a box next to an achievement.

They either need to do the whole "Automatically include quest books if quest completed" or like LOTRO, add the ability to return to old quest instances and replay quests already done for no benefit other than to see the story.

Replaying quests (even for no rewards except being able to do stuff like this) would fix all my issues regarding this eidetic memory and bugged achievements. But I guess it would be a large amount of work to make them replayable with this phasing technology and stuff.

Whilst I do not wish to detract from the lore book topic, this is an achievement issue across the board. I checked mine and without going into detail, noted that many achievements were missing or not listed at all. Crafting for instance. Where are the achievements for all other crafts other than Enchanting? To me I feel they had great ideas but failed to implement them either for lack of time before release of perhaps they thought, we can fix after, no one will notice.

Worse than achievements not existing at all are bugged quest achievements and they cannot give them retroactively. So if you do a quest while its achievement is bugged (the 3 eastmarch story ones for example), you have to reroll the character to get them when they fix it. But the fishing achievements, heavy sack achievements, monster trophy (?) and many other achievements are bugged, too.
They shouldnt have added this achievement and eidelic memory system if they cant make it work properly at release. Forcing people reroll their characters when they had the time to fix them is unacceptable.
I only logged in this whole easter weekend to check hirelings because the completionist in me cant enjoy this game with these elements being bugged.

Always nice to know there are other achievement and lore-obsessed players out there. It makes me feel like I'm not alone as I go traipsing across the landscape looking for that one missing lorebook!

I do hope the fix this bug by the time I get to appreciate it .

Sadly nothing about the bugged achievements and eidetic memory in the patchnotes Still not acknowledged as a bug it seems. Did Zenimax reduce their team size already? I remember in Beta when every month the patchnotes were whole pages long and a single entry on the list was "fixed hundreds/thousands issues with quests" or something like that. Now we just get minimalistic patches...

of course its not gamebreaking for people who just rush to max lvl, skip all dialogues, and what not. But its gamebreaking to people who care about lore and/or completionism.
to me its bad enough to make me cancel my subscription at the end of the month if still nothing is being done

I was really looking forward to this as well. I don't have the time to read books in dungeons. I wanted to browse the literature at a time of my choosing, but most of them aren't working.

Yes, already cancelled my sub earlier than I orginally intended to make sure I dont miss the deadline. I can always resub if I find this stuff fixed in the patchnotes, but until then no more money from me for Zenimax.
Such a shame because the game itself is good, but stuff like this breaks it for me.

In the screenshots I uploaded at the start of this thread, 6 days ago, it showed 322 books unlocked, now I played some more got upto 334 books found, found some more books and I now have 317 books unlocked only. My character must be suffering from Alzheimer.

greetings. i got eiditic memory as well by mistake. i wanted the 2 skills point. but anyways. whats the point of the lorebooks other than reading them? all lorebooks are counted as xp for the mage guild?

you get the eidetic memory even if you take the 2 skillpoints
collecting all non lorebooks is just for your pleasure

We are working towards the fix for this, but we aren't sure if it would be retroactive or not. I'll make a notation on the bug in our system about it being on current characters vs not retroactive. This way, at least we'll find out. I would hope that it would be, as I like to read the books and would really despise having to go back and find all the books again.

I think a bug which potentially requires you to reroll is worse than a questblocker.

Funny. I hope you understand that my bug (aka "questblocker") is hiding Daggerfall and Ebonheart for myself and others to explore. So, yeah. I would say that making sure you have your reading material is not as imperative to those of us missing massive amounts of Tamriel to adventure into.

I'm glad to see responsiveness. I simply wish their action items were better prioritized. As some former poster mentioned, the game is actually not functional for some and your misuse of "gamebreaking" is not applicable. I am no grinder/powergamer, but having over two-thirds of the world inaccessible is something that would warrant the "now" statement from Gina.
