Why only 6 abilities at a time?!!

As the consoles become more powerful than the average/owned computers, console gaming gets further in the lead.

You realize consoles are falling further behind in terms of hardware, not catching up, right?

Again you fail to read the response. I said the average owned pc. Not the hottest.

The number of people (like me) that live on the bleeding edge of computers is very small.

And you completely skipped the part where the pc version of Skyrim only sold 14% of the market and that's according to Bethesda.

To be fair most console games that com to PC sell a small fraction. On the other hand games that go from PC to console like Civilization sell huge.

And Skyrim was a console game. Most MMO's what ESO is are based for PC's first if they want to reach the most subscribers, and be long lasting.

Skyrim wasn't a console only game though, it was for both pc and console at the same time.

On steam, for the PC, it was the biggest game ever when it came out.

The bald and bold fact though is...

Bethesda or whatever you want to call the various versions of said company are in business to make money.

    Skyrim on pc
    2.8 million copies sold (appx)

    Skyrim on Console
    17.2 million copies sold (appx)

Gee.. I wonder which platform they are most hoping they do well in.

And people who like to play with fewer skills, just don't slot any more skills in your skill bar and give yourself all the challenge you like, that solves your problem for you. I don't see any reason for you guys to be upset. But the rest of us who like to have access to more skills should have that access.

These kinds of statesments get me. Have you EVER played WOW or RIFT or any game that had numerous hotbars. Your gonna tell me I can play those games and slot 5 abilities and be viable and able to play with others....REALLY........REALLY.

I suspect he knows how badly that would gimp the char but he doesn't care so long as he can have MOAR BUTTONZ.

I suspect he doesn't even care and if they gave him 20 buttons he would start whining about something else

Every post you make is negative, white knight nonsense. Every post is you whining.

    Please stop with the hypocrisy.

    Pot?Kettle?

You can read my post history and see how much bull is what you just said. We can also read yours and it doesn't look that good, you know?
You REALLY haven't got even ONE semi-constructive post in your whole 'career'.

    Bravo!

PC gaming is on its last legs really and if you don't see it, I can't help you.

While not as popular as consoles, PC gaming is just as strong or stronger than it's ever been.

That being said ESO was made with consoles in mind but that's not the reason there is such a strict limit on buttons. They could easily support 8 with a controller, as other games have.

It seems they wanted this game to be extremely noob friendly so they lowered the bar in many areas.

You mean the limitation wasn't based around controllers, but rather around balancing builds and forcing strategic choices?

    Insanity.

You can balance builds and have strategic choices while allowing more than a paltry 5 abilities and an ultimate. I mean that's obvious, it would be silly to suggest otherwise.

They intentionally set the bar for ESO very, very low to appeal to people who are terrible at mmos. I suspect that's why the game is so simple with it's hand holding, heavily guided design.

ESO is, sadly, the beginner's theme park. It just sucks they used The Elder Scrolls license to make it.

Ah another of your quality posts brimming with positivy :)

Restricting the no. of skills is just a bad game design decision. It gimps the overall game and leave only a few strategies open to manage an encounter.

This will eventually lead to the exactly same characters across the board. DK tanks would be exactly same, DK DPS would be exactly same etc.

Someone talked about hybrid Templars, well hybrid Templars are only viable in early game, in 12 player Trials it will be necessary to specialize, which will lead to all healer Templars to be more or less the same, dps Templars would be ditto copy of each other and same goes for Templars who would attempt tanking.

Bottom line would be the photo copied veteran characters all across the board.
If instead of 6 we had at least 10 skills at our beck n call during combat, that would have been lot better but having only 6 of which only 5 are available for frequent use, is a very bad idea.

The only thing this restriction achieves is that it streamlines PC with Consoles and nothing more.

The Restricting of # of skills being a bad decision is an opinion. You feel its bad others feel its good.

It can be argued forever WHICH is better more or less, but in the end this game was entirely designed ground up to limit the # of abilities we can use. That's NOT going to change. While to other it seems like a simple easy change, in reality its REALLY not due to the fact that even 1 more ability makes characters much more powerful than they were prior.

So unfortunately there is 2 choices...
    A. Learn to live the decision made and learn to enjoy the game.
    or
    B. Move on to better pastures.

It took some getting use too but I do love it! And you can do what ever you want, but it's a way of controlling builds. Your either spamming your ablitys or not using them enough or your build has no synergy and dose not match your play style . Also TIMEing has a huge effect in this game more so then most other games, as someone who was taught timing in SWG this game is easier but for people who just button smash it's going too be hard.
