We understand your frustration and want to reiterate what some folks here have already stated:

Players setting up their subscription plan using Visa, MasterCard or PayPal may see an initial transaction against their account. However, this transaction is only temporary. The charge represents an authorization check against the account provided, and will be removed once the authorization check is complete. For players using American Express, the transaction is also temporary although the authorization check against their account may take anywhere from 3-7 days to resolve.
This is not of any help. This charge was not authorized.

This is not a charge. It is an authentication for the charge. Almost every online vendor does something similar.

You are angry because you don't understand something. That's fine, but it's not anyone else's problem but your own.

    1) all mmos ask u infos after prepurchased period;
    2) To verify an account they need just 1 cent.
  • aborodacub17_ESO
No they don't! This has not happen in an MMO in years! FF14 Didn't have me put my CC info in till my 30 days was up so if they think i'm putting my CC info in before my 30days they will get an ear full from me, WoW does not ask you for CC before your 30 days! Or Did Tera online! or SWTOR or The secret world! So the list goes on. Get your facts straight!

That is inaccurate on at least one count. Vanilla WoW, back in 2004, used the exact same method. You setup your subscription with the account, and they charged you after your 30 days was up. Maybe they have revised since then, as that was nearly a decade ago and I have not setup a new account with them since.

Yeah, um, guy from Europe here (The Netherlands). I don't have a credit card and pay most of my online gaming stuff with iDeal. I was actually FORCED to buy an additional 30 days of game time to even be ABLE to add the free 30 days of gametime. Can you please explain that?

Many companies do an authorization check to verify the account. However, good companies do the check for a penny rather than the actual amount. Doing a check for a penny is the exact same check as if they used the full amount, but it doesn't inconvenience or confuse the customer as much.

Most merchant vendors use a $1 pre-authorization for a card, and not the full amount of an intended purchase be that now or in the future.

The Zenimax Store has had to put far more customer service time than is necessary into their customers panicking over full charge pre-authorization attempts since they opened the store up for pre-orders. Even minor mistakes when adding your card info can throw a full purchase amount pre-authorization to your bank. This is BAD and a call generator. Call generators should be avoided if possible. I would hope that those managing your customer service call center are pushing to kill call generators like this by pressing the store to change their pre-authorization charges to a more acceptable industry standard pre-auth charge amount. $1 pre-auth would not cause panic! If this is not on the continuous improvement table for customer experience than priorities are not in the right place.

@ZOS_AmeliaR‌ If the check wasn't for the full sub amount people wouldn't be so confused.

This is pretty standard and not just for game subs, you go to set up new internet/phone/tv service they're going to put a 14.99 or whatever hold on your account to make sure you gave them legit cc # or bank info after 24-48hrs the hold is credited back to your account. This is exactly what happened to me and my friends after entering in our info. Its not illegal to do either would probably help if some of you actually knew what you were talking about before posting nonsense and threatening lawsuits.

Protip, if a 14.99 hold on your card is breaking the bank you're going to get laughed at by any attorney you speak to about filing a lawsuit.

My issue is my cable bill is paid on the 5th of each month and i had exact amount in my account so when that was withdrawn my account overdrawn and now my bank is charging me a 35$ fee.

What world do you live in? They don't need to make an " Authorization charge " if your card isn't valid it wont register they don't need to charge any thing, I've never seen a company do this nothing you say will change that fact.

Green Man Gaming is a joke. I've had nothing but problems since ordering the discounted imperial edition from them. I will never, ever, ever, buy from them again. No stress is worth the full price from bethesda. I wish i had known better.

Here's what they told me in a response:

"I am very sorry to hear that and I do understand the frustrations caused in this. Unfortunately, we have been informed that you will need to setup a subscription with TESO to activate your 30 days free access. Once you set up a subscription, you will get your 30 days free. With regards to any charges or any further subscription based queries, i would advise contacting Bethesda, as they will be able to go into further detail on the process for you. https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/

Again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and I hope this helps however should you have any other queries, please let us know."

    ...it's criminal.
