They have made a monumental mistake. People are going to quit in droves now and ftp is in this games near future.

Insulting paying customers in the wallet is a sure way to lose them forever.

This was no pre authorization, they have taken/stolen the money and the only thing they can do is put it back. It's already been taken.

This is why these idiots in the bean counting department should not be forcing players to add credit info to an account before the 30 day paid game time is over.
The number one rule of online gaming is now and has always been, Never play on Patch Day.

Don't panic, if it's just pending it will disappear. If it actually goes against your balance as a charge, then contact support.

Chances are, what you're seeing is simply an authorization on your card and not a charge. If you want to be 100% sure, you can check with your bank and/or review your current balance after a little while to confirm that it was only an authorization.

Most do that with 0,05 $ cent..and what if you dont have a cc but you are going to buy cards. I have to insert a game code card number to setup a subscription but i dont know yet if i will play after 30 days.

I just want to play. And when i decide i want to play another 30 days I insert a code...not before..maybe i take a break with the summer etc.

    better your system!

    +1 to this unacceptable bull

IF i decide to resub, it will be with a prepaid timecard which i will not purchase until i am satisfied that i will want to play this game further than the claimed '30 days free game time'

    NOT BEFORE

so how do we go about claiming our additional imperial items if we cannot enter the code on the site because we cannot enter our game code?

    THIS exactly...

I understand them checking validity of my CC, but not full price.

Usual amount is $1 for validity.

Also, the funds may be available to you if you are using CC, but its not when you pay with visa debit card.

    Bloody annoying.

    Greetings,

All players are required to set up and choose a subscription plan starting on Sunday, April 6th. Those players not eligible for Early Access will be asked to register their game code and set up a payment method or redeem a game-time card on their account starting on Thursday, April 3rd, at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The 30 days of free game time are granted to all players who fill out their billing information and select a subscription plan. A player will not be billed for that subscription until the 30 days of free access has expired. Subscribing players can find more information about their billing cycle by logging into My Account. The information will be available on the right-side column of this page.

Please note that the 3 days and 5 days of early access are not included in the 30 days of free game time. These were additional benefits to players who pre-purchased or preordered the game.

You can find more information about The Elder Scrolls Online on our website and social channels ( Facebook , Twitter , and Google+ ).

Not only is that transaction still pending on my account, but I just realized something: why is it pending $77.94?? Maybe my math is wrong but a 3 month subscription is $38.97.

Why is it pending two of those 3 month subscriptions?

Duh scratch all that. I'm too busy with other things tonight. It's the correct amount, it's a 6 month recurring plan. Now to make sure it clears off my account...

I've never seen a company preauthorize for the full subscription price. It was my understanding when I entered my credit card information that I would not be charged at any way at this time. If i didn't have the funds available I would have been charged overage fees by my bank. You tell customers when entering their information that the card will be authorized and the funds will be unavailable for a period of time.

What Jessica said is how I have always seen it. Every company does this when you give them your CC. They do this to make sure your entering a valid CC. I am sure your balance didn't change at all. Also I would never use a Bank Card for anything like this because a Card Credit company is going to be easier to deal with on money then a Bank. Also there is no way to overdraw a Credit Card to a Bank Debit card.

You are right that allot of companies does this, but I have never seen a company charge that much simply for validating a card, usually its just $1 or a small percentage of the total sum.
I have played allot of MMOs over the last decade, but never had then charge me a full month subscription like this, simply for redeeming my game code or inputting my payment details.

So if you purchase game time cards (which we've been told would be available, but which I cannot actually verify to exist anywhere), you do not get the free 30 days??

So i got imperial edition from green man gaming and in order to enter the code they sent i had to enter my CC info which i was fine with i understand that a subscription is needed to play and i entered my CC info thinking it would withdraw AFTER my 30 days of included time was over on may 6th(30 days starts on Sunday April 6th).
but instead they took out the 14.99 the second i entered the info, then i got an email confirmation saying that i was charged 0.00 and that i have successfully redeemed my code from green man gaming.

They charge you $14.99 and then send you a mail saying the did not charge you?

It quite frankly sounds like a lie to me, and that they are trying to charge me without my knowledge or consent.

If that email is correct, a lot of people will be unhappy,

Sure the order pages mentions a sub is required to play but it also says 30 days is included. And common sense says that the sub starts after 30 days. At no point was it made clear if you didn't sub you weren't entitled to the included 30 days you have already paid for.

They aren't getting my bank details until the end of the month if I decide to carry on playing and if I do, I intend to buy one month and not have my debit card details stored on their server.

If i can't do that, no matter how much I love this game, I will be asking for a full refund as I have not got what I paid for.

Basically that means if we do not set up a subscription (yet) then you decide to rip us off until we do? Are you kidding me?

We already PAID for the first 30 days - there is nothing to "grant"... you owe those days to us as part of the initial game purchase without any strings attached.

This is the terms at the checkout when paying for subscription:

If you are purchasing the digital version of The Elder Scrolls Online, by clicking “I agree” on the Payment and Review page, you agree that we are providing you immediate access to the digital content so your purchase is final. Additionally, you acknowledge that this game requires you to enter into a paid subscription plan. A valid and accepted payment method is required to play.
For any recurring subscriptions, you understand and agree that we will save your payment information and authorize the recurring payment now, but will not charge you until after any game time has expired, subject to cancellation by you at any time. If you have no game time remaining, you will be billed upon clicking “I agree” and your purchase is final as we are providing you immediate access.
For any one-time subscription purchase, you agree to be billed immediately for your subscription as set forth above and because we are providing immediate access, your purchase is final. Your game time will be added to any existing game time and will expire at the end of your selected subscription plan.
If you are redeeming a Game Time Card, your game time will be added to any existing game time if applicable and will expire at the end of your selected subscription plan.
You may update or cancel your subscription at any time by going to the “Manage Subscription” page on your Elder Scrolls Online account.

I got an email copy of the transaction and it was $0. So basically they will charge me when the "free" game time ends I guess.

They can write in the terms what they want, it doesn't make automatically true. Advertising 30 free days combined with the common practice that you don't have to pay or give credit information till you want to buy additional time it's pretty misleading what they are doing.

serious what were they thinking as they talked about this in a staff meeting ?
"hey the whole world discuss the p2p system... and it looks like only 30% of the ppl dont have a problem with it.. lets charge them another 15$ before they can use their 30 days.. just for certification .. harharharhar"

even more fun... with playspan and such .. you dont get back ya money at all.. IT´S A TRAP ! lmao

even they charge it at the end of the 30 days.. ppl who dont use CC or cant use their bankaccounts .. are just *** :P

Never. There is no need. you can do an authorize like most legit companies of .01 I think the highest I have been charged and that was a google authorization of .23 . Paypal actually gave me .07 when authorizing. This is a cop out excuse and bad business practice.

I have at least 3k worth of subscriptions going out each and every month. I have had lots of free trials that do "authorization" charges. I have even worked for a company that did authorization charges and know a little bit about how and why they are done and what is needed. This is definitely not needed and bad business practice.

They won´t be able to play at sunday even they bought a fullgame.. which includes 30 days of playing time ?
Iam a mmorpg player.. since.. 1997... and this feels SO BAD !
Iam used to the certification stuff.. but not for the full price.. and even after all this discussions about p2p... and you simple dont tell ppl that they acutal buy the 30 days for 15$ if they use playspan or paysafe .. ^^

Me too I have already received € 12.99 subscription.

I had to use my main bank account, other than that I have (which I use for games) would not let me, since it had no funds there.

That is, they have taken me a month now and have just 30 days of play. There has been something weird ...

PS: I also bought the game on GMG, but do not think that has anything to do.

    ...

It is my understanding that the initial game purchase very well qualifies as a "one-time subscription" for 30 days. And the "subscription plan" here is 30 days, not recurring.

If one redeems his/her normal/imperial game code (which was already paid for), they are to hand over the included 30 days. End of story.

There is no checking in advance if one may or may not have the necessary funds available for a potential future subscription. If that happens, check then.

No they don't! This has not happen in an MMO in years! FF14 Didn't have me put my CC info in till my 30 days was up so if they think i'm putting my CC info in before my 30days they will get an ear full from me, WoW does not ask you for CC before your 30 days! Or Did Tera online! or SWTOR or The secret world! So the list goes on. Get your facts straight!
