Love the idea of this test, but the time period is actually horrendous for us Oceanic folks, especially being on a weekday (note that a Tuesday afternoon for NA is basically ~4am Wednesday morning for Oceanic folks).

@ZOS_GinaBruno Hopefully more of these sorts of things can be organized for weekends to allow more players to participate, or at least some additional or extended time slots for these tests would help a lot too.

on a friday before the weekend
on valentines
on the pts forums, 4 weeks in
it's in the middle of the week
no rewards
no preset pvp template
no announcement in game
no announcement anywhere else?

I expect about 30-50 people to show up.

Pretty sure this was an off the cuff thing not something that they planned for months in advance.

Instead of critiquing them I'm actually appreciative of them being more agile and working on the fly.

It's our job as fans of the game who have complained about it for years to now help them. Think there isn't enough visibility about it - spread the word.

I've posted it on the main ESO reddit page, posted it in about 5 guild discords I'm in. Spread it in discords you're in. If you have a core you play with maybe try to get something together.

Being honest... 30-50 people showing up and playing is still more data than 100 bots would give them.

The fact that this isnt on the announcements on the launcher, and listed under the PTS and not general on the forums, has already lost a massive amount of people that might actually come test. Then putting on the PTS loses even more people. And then making it at 2pm on a tuesday?! You have actually lost the majority of people who would be willing to come test this.

Pin it on the general channel, post it on the launcher announcements, and at least make it past 5pm est or on a saturday. If it must be on the PTS then so be it, but you would be better off doing it in gray host. Or even an extra camp, during mym. Like put a couple devs at any given keep in gray host, on the live servers, and you will see the performance and turn out you are looking for.

Come to think of it, you dont even have to do all of this. Just get a few devs to que into gray host at prime time. Right now would be perfect, and go follow a zerg around. You will see the performance, you cant miss it.

Not for nothing, but doesn't it make more sense to do this after work hours primetime US or EU? I and probably most people arent going to take time off work or school to be there for the test.

This late in the PTS cycle many people see that no changes are happening or being listened to so they stop looking on the forums.

Nice to see something like this is possible and I encourage zos to do more events like this, however more thought should go into it.

Ahh thanks, so its really just aimed for EU. I did my time conversion the wrong way and couldnt understand why theyd test midday US and early day EU.

You know, having only seen the initial post and not this follow up comment, I signed on just now expecting this test to be occurring in the vengeance environment. Meaning as an NA player, I'd just be able to jump in and go.

But this test is actually occurring with full cyrodiil sets/skills/cp, which means that I (and any other NA player looking to test) have to make a template character, get all the gear together, apply all the enchants, transmute everything, get the scribing skills together, put all my CP and attributes in, etc. Easily a 15-30 minute task depending on your experience using template characters.

Between this, the timing it was scheduled for, and the lack of visibility regarding the test overall (no launcher update, etc), this feels very low effort and poorly planned. It certainly doesnt make me feel like my time is being respected as someone who is acting as an "unpaid game tester", as I saw another user put it.

Just a reminder this is starting in about 10-15 minutes! Also, be aware this is just a small, focused test just on the PTS for us to gather up some data on our end. We will do more of these, and it's not a big deal if you miss it today.

I do hope that in the future you consider doing this on a weekend to allow more to participate. Taking time off of work for this isn’t an option for most in the NA time zones. Glad it is accessible for EU folks, and hope they are able to give you the numbers you need, but we’d like to help too. Not that a weekend is a perfect solution, but it is likely more accessible for most.

idk what you're trying to gain from this. I really hope it helps you guys. But i would really like to reiterate, this is not a good representation of how things are on live. Mainly with performance. if you went into gray host between like 5 to 11pm est, you would see how abysmal it is. Especially if you did some evet like this. But doing it on the pts like this will not do it justice, not even close.

If thats not what you're looking for then fine. But this feels nothing like the conditions on any given day in gray host, and even blackreach on the weekends.

I encourage the developers to do some observations in Gray Host at 8pm on a Friday night (or any night) if you really want to measure things. Go where the real data is.

This test allowed us to test out some new data collection tools that are in the Update 45 build, along with gathering data and metrics around disconnects during heavy combat situations (and we were even able to verify one definitive cause for getting disconnected in heavy combat). We are going to wind things down but thank you again for your help today!

I would like to suggest that players NOT interrupt people rezzing their fellow players NOR burn FC camps. I think it best that we keep as many people in combat at ROE as possible without having to ride all the way from Alessia (for EP players) or Nikel (for DC).

There was a seemingly comped DC group that was taking things way, way, too seriously. Other than that group that was apparently trying to make things as un-fun as possible, everyone was, I think, reasonably amicable in that sense.

Had a ton of fun and glad the data was helpful!!

AD showed up big. We took a butt kicking (DC) for a while there.
