Wasn't 20 or anything, but I'll take it. Only took 6 weeks for it to happen ... I wasn't even hitting tons of nodes in a starter area or anything like that. Just a standard nirncrux run in Craglorn, with lots of nodes already picked over by other players. Towards the end of the two hour nirncrux run, I got eight ink over a period of about fifteen minutes (a couple of those were double drops). Ironically enough, no Potent Nirncrux (which I always tend to get during a two hour run). Maybe they're finally tweaking the ink drop rate? I know they don't always need to take the servers down to implement small fixes. Or maybe it's a one off, and I'll go back to one or two ink per hour? Time will tell.qthere is no problem with obtaining ink.
As I've already posted here, it seems most of you are unaware that by simply completing the scribing quest again on a different character gives you another x12 inks.
If you have 2 alts then that's x24 inks, and so on and so forth, but most players will only ever need a maximum of a couple of additional quest runs.
We're aware of what you said. It's just a terrible solution to an issue that should not exist.
Agreed. Terrible solution.
Anecdotally, I will say that the poor drop rate appears to be fixed on my end. I went from consistently getting 0-2 ink per hour to getting 5-7+ per hour overnight. Nothing changed with my farming strategy. I’m not sure if someone processed my bug report or if they’ve tweaked the way ink drops are calculated in general. If you’re still seeing 0-2 per hour in resource rich areas like starter zones, I recommend submitting a bug report like I did.
Even though things have improved for me, I still think one ink per day should be a guaranteed drop from the first daily completion on an account. There has already been a precedent set for associating scribing with dailies, so it would make sense. More sense then putting ink in random Ancestor Silks anyway…
Edit: autocorrect typo
Nothing changed in your farming strategy?
So moving from a starter zone to Craglorn isn't a change in your farming strategy?
No. I was always alternating between Craglorn and starter zones from the get go, because I farm Craglorn for Potent Nirncrux on a regular basis. The only thing that changed was all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I went from getting 0-2 ink per hour every single day since Gold Road's release to regularly seeing the kind of drops other players have been seeing consistently from the outset.
EDIT: And I should add, that long-awaited lucky streak in Craglorn wasn't my only lucky streak. Since then, I've been consistently getting at least five per hour whether it's Craglorn, Betnikh, Bleakrock, etc. It's nice to finally be getting the same kind of drops the arrogant "you're obviously doing something wrong" folks have been getting since day one of release without making any adjustments whatsoever to my farming strategy.
i personally still dont really enjoy farming nodes, but i had 2 drops over the weekend from casual random harvesting while i was doing other things
i cant say for myself if the rate seems different as i havent really gone on a large spree, though as most of my activities are usually PVE monster killing (archive, dungeons, trials, dailies) and pvp, the ink still is pretty rare for me
i think my achievement is at 38 or 39 ink now, with maybe a dozen ink stored up
the drop rate from enemies is still insanely low, and theres still no source of them from pvp
I know it sucks, but consider farming Bleakrock Isle while waiting for the dungeon queue to pop (assuming you’re a DD) or while waiting in the Gray Host queue, just to see if your luck has improved at all. That’s what I do. Got 8 ink in less than an hour yesterday while waiting for my queues to pop. Bleakrock Isle is the easiest farming location, IMO, because it’s a decent size with lots of alternate routes to choose from if there are other players farming in the area. If you use addons, there is even a harvesting addon you can install that will map out a route for you that yields the most nodes most efficiently. I personally don’t use the addon if the area is crowded (because I know other people also use it, meaning everyone’s running the same routes — more productive to head off the path and find nodes that way), but it’s good if you’re playing at a quieter time.
I’m now at 113 ink on the achievement. I earned more ink over the last week than I did during the initial six weeks of Gold Road’s release with no change at all in my farming strategy. My account definitely feels a lot less cursed now… I know people say “that’s just RNG” but it’s veeerrry curious.
I agree that there should definitely be a PVP source for ink and the drop rate from enemies should be better. As I’ve already said here and elsewhere, I think the most reasonable solution (other than increasing the drop rate) would be to award one guaranteed ink from the first repeatable daily completion on an account, with a smaller chance to award additional ink from every other daily completed thereafter. There has already been a precedent set for associating scribing with dailies, and it would give people an opportunity to get ink while doing game activities that actually matter to them.
