They should never have started putting mythics in Savior achievements.

The "Savior of ..." zone titles have always been about completing all of that zone's content.

I think achievements should never be based on RNG, because getting lucky is not an achievement. And DLC achievements should never have requirements of completing a completely different DLC's content.

So, I think Leads (Mythic achievements) should not be required for zone titles. Because the Lead drop chances are based on RNG, and some of the Leads drop from content outside of its zone's own content.

Even though I do trials (my group and I are not score pushers and never have been, though, just not interested) I think expecting all players who buy the chapter to participate in 12 man group content is a bit ridiculous.

ESO was always unique in that it never really shoved the part of it's player base that enjoyed questing towards trial content, and kept the trial achievements separate from the story and chapter achievements. That's the way it should stay.

Not cool to sell those players a chapter then ninja that kind of content on them if they want to unlock the main "savior" achievements for a chapter.

Grinding trials is not their idea of fun. Know your playerbase. This isn't how you increase numbers in the endgame community. It's how you loose players and sales.

I don't like this trend and don't want to see it again going forwards.

Not to mention needing western skyrim to complete gold road is all kinds of ridiculous.

Hopefully this thing shows up in IA for those that like playing through it, but not trials.

Today after logging into game, I joined by group finder into trial group, 2 minutes later I was in trial, 15 minutes later final boss was defeated and I get lead in first try (and many other players). It's really not that hard, we had in group also people with 200 CP...

Saviour of West Weald is a ZONE achievement......

The activities required to complete it should be contained within that zone surely??

Is HoF even relevant in any way to the Gold Road story? I don't know as I haven't done anything except Scribing quests yet.

It does seem very strange to me. 🤔

You know, that might be true, but since I wasn't at my PC and wasn't playing ESO at the time I posted, I chose to spend a minute to provide some feedback to ZoS.

It's funny that you bring up how we could better use our time though - if I were someone who [from what I've seen on the forums] runs a lot of trials and has extensive knowledge of them... I might consider spending my time offering help or advice to players for whom a trial seems like an insurmountable obstacle instead of making a snarky comment.

And I might also consider how such a comment is likely to serve no purpose other than to reinforce the reasons that some players don't want to engage in that kind of group content.

    Food for thought!

clicked on the wrong option, other would've been a better choice.

i think a normal trial isn't "Very disappointing" for the achievement that gives a fancy new mount,
but Halls of Fabrication is a frustrating trial so it is not ideal.
And i wish leads from trials, dungeons, and treasure maps were guaranteed or only took a maximum of like 2 or 5 tries.

    in case people aren't aware:

Hero of the Gold Road is the achievement for the quests, delves, and world bosses by the way.
it is one of the achievements required for the Saviour achievement.

Necrom had a similar achievement for the Berry glow nix ox mount.

the Hero achievement unlocks a title, a dye, and the ability to buy an achievement furnishing.

the Saviour achievement is just for the Wildburn Lynx mount.

I'm at work, but I lead trials for people new to raiding all the time! And I also creat group finder runs multiple times a week in order to clear content/farm gear/stickerbook. That's why I said it's only 15 minutes to do a quick nhof.

We don't judge anybody, you can clear nhof with a tank and 4 really good dds in 15 minutes, and anyone else is just extra help, welcome to come along for the ride.

It's just a trial. A few days ago I did a completely blind run with a guild of mine, who I would say are all pretty middle-of-the-road story players who are not hardcore into trials or putting out big DPS. We cleared it in an hour and a half. No reason you couldn't do the same!

I actually couldn't. I'm not in a guild, and would never use Discord for a group (it's required for most Trial groups from what I heard). Anyway, it's my problem. Nevertheless, my disappointment is the achievement that was traditionally excluding Trials and PvP now requires a Trial. I guess we can expect a lead behind PvP next year for the Savior of Whatever.

its absolutely not required for normal trials, you can do basically any trial on normal with minimal communication (even using in game chat) for the most part, especially older trials

for vet i would say its certainly much more significant due to the coordination required for some of the mechanics

you dont even need a guild for normal runs either, PUG groups get posted in the trials section of the group finder quite often

PuGs seem hit or miss on if they’re toxic or nice, I’ve seen people be attacked for trolling when they just needed to learn and I’ve seen entire groups be welcoming to tanks learning for the first time. As long as you can pick up mechanics and follow the group you’ll be fine. You can also look at a mechanic video ahead of time but with HoF it’s most likely a normal PuG is going to be stack and burn.

It looks like one of the leads for the Rourken Steamguards antiquity drops from the last boss in normal HoF. This antiquity is required for the Antiquarian Chase: West Weald achievement which, in turn, is required for the Savior of West Weald achievement. This is the first time completing a Trial (possibly multiple times if you are unlucky) is required for the Savior of ... type of achievement. How do you feel about this?

Edit: to avoid misconceptions I would like to add that I'm fine with playing with other players (dungeons, ToT), I'm fine with leads added to Trials. This poll is about a Trial being required specifically for Savior of ... type of achievement.

You quite literally don't ever need to talk to another player. Use the group finder. Done. Normal trials are very straight forward.

It frustrates me when people say "but that's impossible" when the game itself has multiple tools for doing what they want to do, and the difficulty is basically like an extra long fungal grotto 1.

To me it feels like they're so worked up that they intentionally close themselves off to possible solutions. I just wanted to point out that it would not take them long at all to find a solution. I would argue farming nhof is faster than farming ToT.

    Depends on which.
If we were talking about the new trial that is part of the zone, I do not see a gigantic issue with requiring it cleared on normal to get the "Done with the Zone" achievement.
A trial from a completely unrelated zone, which is the case here, however... well... that is just poignant, to put it politely.

    i would agree with this

i get it for people who never did a trial, doing 12 man content for the first time can be intimidating when you have no experience with it, people dont want to let their group down, but also dont realize how easy normal trial content generally is (i would agree with the assessment that you generally only need about 4-6 competent players of the 12 to realistically clear the content on normal)

but i think the other side too is theres a lot of people in the game (especially on the forums) that absolutely abhor any kind of group content (for one reason or another) and are completely unwilling to do the content (i mean i get it, some people dont like grouping, but that at this point is a choice those people make and have to accept they will not be able to access everything the game has to offer)

It makes no sense to include mythics in the “Savior of…” achievements — aren’t the antiquities already supposed to be their own rewards anyway? Unmitigated RNG is frustrating enough already. :/
If the achievement required completing the trial included in the chapter on normal, I would have absolutely no problem with that (what my poll response was based on because I did not look close enough…)
