That being, do you like the old style of delves and public dungeons where there's a few easily identifiable paths or the new style where the delves and public dungeons are reused for multiple quests, appear much bigger, and have many paths?

I always get lost until I learn the exact path to get to the skyshard and boss. I won't even bother getting the skyshard in some delves and public dungeons or doing the quests for certain delves because they're just too complex even with a minimap. Don't even get me started on secret paths that don't show up on the minimap or layered paths. I swear I ran around in circles in the Apocrypha public dungeon for quite a bit the other day.

The only one delve I do not like is the one on Artaeum. I reached that skyshard maybe on 2 or 3 out of my 15+ toons. Never can get to it even with a guide.

With the caveat that I don't like a handful of the new ones where the path to the skyshard is hidden. or blends in to the rock wall at most angles, or you have to hop over gaps at the right angle or fall down and repeat. Its a skyshard. It shouldn't be a pain to get.

I hate places where I get turned around and confused even with a map. The old style does me fine. Fortunately, I don't need skyshards from all the new ones.... there's plenty without them.

Sometimes in the new ones I do get lost which is practically impossible in the old ones, and that's momentarily inconvenient.

But the new design is more realistic and immersive and that's what I paid for.

I like larger delves and public dungeons, but not confusing ones.

The public dungeons in the base game are fine, but most of the delves in the base game are too simple. The later delves are a big improvement in terms of size. But I like a sense of order in the map, so I would prefer larger delves and public dungeons with logical maps. Not larger ones with willy nilly maps, if that makes sense.

And yeah, you should not have to contort yourself around a crazy map to get the skyshard.

I don't really care either way, but I do actually find it a little fun to have to look at a map and figure out the most efficient way to make my way around the whole delve/public dungeon or how to get to a skyshard.

i dont really have a strong opinion either way

i would prefer most public dungeons to have a good "loop" though for farming purposes, it makes it easier to try to get the collectible drops if theres a loop with lots of mobs, and little to navigate around

Yes, I like complex delves and public dungeons
I much prefer interesting delves and public dungeons. I don't find any of them to be confusing, although some require some processing to understand -- which I enjoy doing.

I don't prefer most of the base game delves. Most are uninteresting with too little variety. I think that's because ESO launched late, so one of the corners they cut was delve variety. Some may recall many base game delves were simplified at launch and expanded a little after.

I don't like getting stuck in dead ends and having to backtrack. I also don't like looking for a path up and discovering the start of the path is most of the way across the instance from where the objective is.

There are some that are fine and others that are a pain. For example, from Necrom, Gorne is fine for a public dungeon. I find the Underweave confusing.

For delves, Anchre Egg Minebis rather bland. I really like Fathoms Drift. Quires Wind is a confusing maze I don't like at all.

Yeah, Gome is really just one big circle. I like it a lot. Underweave is just awful, mostly I just don't like Apoycrapha, all that sickly green and anemic yellow is off-putting.

I'm not too keen on them because I'm navigationally challenged, so having really complex paths on delves that are tied to daily quests is not particularly fun (there's one in Apocrypha where I was going up and down and in circles for ages before I could find the objectives ).

I don't think they've changed that much. I wish the Companion quests replaced a point-of-interest quest so that they were more like Bastian/Mirri/Ember/Isobel instead of Sharp/Azandar. I assume they put Sharp and Azandar's quests in the public dungeons just for efficiency, but instead they should have replaced point-of-interest requests, which otherwise serve the same purpose of "quest with its own unique area".

I like the complex ones the first time I explore them. I take my time, I'm doing the quests, I'm unlocking the whole area. Usually, I'm with a friend.

After that, I prefer the easier ones, because I get frustrated navigating the complex ones when I'm going in for a quick daily or something similar.

Yep, exactly. I also am navigationally challenged. No matter how many times I go through the complex delves, it's not at such a frequency that I learn them, so I get lost every time!

Base game delves are too linear. The DLC delves were a great improvement, I really prefer the added complexity.

Until I hit the Apocrypha delves... At which point (IMHO) it became inherently obvious that they were made overly complex and for the wrong reason. They weren't made complex to make it more fun (cuz they're not), but instead they're overly complex simply to show off the art department's shiny new building concept. It all looks awesome for the first few minutes after entering for the first time, but then it becomes old really quick. The abundance of multiple levels interlaced throughout the maps are too complex to even map it in any discernable manner.

Multipath dungeons and delves are nice. One of my earlier complaints about the base game delves was the "copy paste" circle with the locked/one-way door that we used to get.

However, multi-level multi-path dungeons make the map almost useless, and I am not a fan of those.

I was going to say it’s the maps as well. The lighter color is supposed to mean a higher elevation, but when the paths overlap, it becomes very confusing.

Quires Wind in Apocrypha is a great example of this.
