Crown Crate Gifting Temporary Solution Process

Can other Crown items be gifted through support this way? If so, maybe this could be added to the announcement regarding the suspension of Crown store gifting? I think a lot of people are understandably upset if they bought Crowns for the purpose of prizes, gifting, raffles, etc. and may feel much better to know that there is still a way to use their Crowns as intended, even if less convenient.

    [Edited for clarity.]

Given how poorly this system has been working, I do not think it would make people feel better for long. Especially the people who get social banned for following directions and using the system as instructed.

    Is this system still functional?

... or is it stopped with the announcement of crown gifting?

I would really like to know since we have to inform our friends and guild mates that the promised Crates we mentioned to them won't actually be arriving.

What is going on? I can not follow this dialog. I need an answer: Can we gift items (other than crown crates) and receive gold?

@darvaria you probably figured this out by now, the answer is no, you can't. It was still possible when you posted the question, but yesterday all crown store gifting was disabled by zos.

The statement claims that it's temporary, but since they're "working on" a solution for crate gifting since about half a year already and there's nothing in sight and the community has been completely ignored for weeks now, that seems questionable.

(Also regarding your last question about 3rd party seller websites where you can buy gold with rl currency, no, people are not recommending that since it is illegal).

IMHO There are 3 issue ZOS has --

Issue 1- Thieves thought: "why would anyone buy 1500 crowns for $15USD when they can buy 5000 crowns worth of GOLD for $15USD on a 3rd party site out of reach from ZOS influence?"

Issue 2- In the US 5500 Crowns cost $39.99 USD, while in other countries 5500 Crowns in that countries currency are sold for less using the exchange rate of the USD, than the USD cost in the US Crown store. So thieves were buying in the less cost countries and selling the Crowns online to players in the US for less than the US Crown store.

Issue 3- Crown purchasers themselves, i.e. using stolen credit cards and/or initiating chargebacks after they've completed all their trades

All of issues are likely why the gold-to-crowncrate exchange was stopped.

I do not know how to fix this and still have Crown store item gifting. Anyone have Ideas on a fix for these 3 issues?

Issues 1&2: Set the price of crowns across the board at the current lowest regional price - the grey market disappears on international crown transactions because now everyone has access to the same pricing and the markets that used to be cheaper aren't priced out. Are some people in more expensive markets going to spend less overall? Probably. But the people who spend a lot will probably continue to spend a lot, and there will probably be a lot of people who did not buy crowns (or did not buy crowns regularly) in the more expensive markets who will now feel it is more worthwhile to do so.

Issue 3: Increase security surrounding credit card transactions using systems such as multifactor authentication. ZOS isn't the only company that has issues with this, the tools to combat these problems are present, robust, and available.

ETA: Also, these hypothetical people in points 1&2 are not thieves - bad actors, possibly, but they're not thieves

Make everything directly purchasable. Do away with crown crates all together. It's a bad business model for the consumer.

It's been 4 days with no response. I'm feeling really exhausted and tired. I keep to calm my friend down because he is mad about the inadequate long gifting process too. How much discussions have to be opened? How much disappointing comments have to be written? My hope in recieving a gift from my friend is fading away. A whole month has passed since the ticket opened. I never expected such quality of service. I still believe that I will receive crates after this terrible long period and keep enjoy the game as before. But it seems to be the end if all the time and nerves spent in vain.6dj0hhtxelxd.png

You might want to get your friend to ask for a refund on the crowns used to purchase the gift. There is no crown store gifting now and ZOS will never process the gift request.

    Good luck.

So you don't see any issues in the fact that the ticket was submitted a month ago when crown store items were giftable, do you? Or the fact that there weren't any comments about shutting down gifting crates via Customer support and cancelling all existed requests which were created before the pausing gifting from crown store?

I was just trying to be supportive of your situation.

I have many issues with the crown crate business model as well as many other issues with how ZOS handles customer support in general. But posting those complaints on this forum just results in proving those complaints meritorious most of the time.

Again, best of luck resolving your issue.

But I didn't end up with 52K of crowns to "gift" away. I bought them with the premise that I would be swapping crown items for in game gold. This "solution" does nothing for me.

OMG, just noticed this is from July. So there is still no real solution. Okay. I'm done asking. This "solution" has flip flopped so many times, I have no idea what the "latest" decision is. I don't even understand why this topic came back to the top. Just delete it?

I didn't mean anything offensive. Sorry if I sounded rude. Unfortunately, articles can't express the speech emotions to the full extent. I got what you meant, thank you for replying to the post and wishing me luck. Agree with the statement about complaints but I believe we should not just be silent about continuing problematic state of gifting system. I hope the issues connected to gifting will be solved after all.

    Thanks again for your opinion.

Do a simple system like in old good LineAge II - donate coins - like an special items which you can trade hands to hands and through guild store.

Do dollar per coin prices - why in Ukraine where is a war now prices the same like in EU ? But in some countries prices ten times cheaper ? - do it fair for all the world - 1 usd 1 coin - all happy.

Add adequate logging system to all gold transfers bigger then 100k for example and you see who sold gold for RM - then you can delete all accounts which was logging from this particular computers - and solve the problem.

Please add the things where we fair crafters and our mates grinders could spend gold - there is no items where you spend this millions of gold. Before it was exchanged for crown store staff - now where ?
Game need gold sink in the size of billions gold peaces per month.

And please increase the game difficulty - it's not funny when quest bosses can't kill you at all. Please up difficulty of the game to normal dungeon difficulty and drop damage and health by % to 100. Very high numbers - bad uninteresting gameplay except WB, dungeons and trials...

    ?

They do that regularly - you need to check your "My Support" section on the ESO website regularly, because they will change the status of your ticket without emailing you. If you have an open ticket, check it every day and if it gets switched to "Answer Provided", respond right away with a message saying that it has not. Once you've done this, wait two days, but then start messaging them regularly because if your ticket goes without activity for four days with "Answer Provided" status, it will be closed and you'll have to submit a new one. Unfortunately, that's all you can do.

Honestly, probably because ESO is a great game. As badly as they treat us, as often as they show up a day late and a dollar short, as woefully out of touch with the community as they are, the bottom line is ESO still has a lot of cool stuff and interesting lore, mechanics, and gameplay, which makes it harder to simply walk away.

The people who spend thousands of dollars a month on crowns probably don't hurt either.

I'd like to say it's in acknowledgement of the people who have month old gifting tickets in CS limbo, but it's more likely that it's for the same reason they announced the Undaunted event would have ticket gifting or that they turned off gifting without having a system in place for all the people whose transactions got caught in limbo.

As much as I share your frustration, I doubt things will happen quite like that. This is unlikely to be the final nail in the coffin, but I do suspect that it will ultimately make ESO less fun and engaging for anyone who enjoys a multiplayer experience and drive the demographics such that remaining players are more focused on solo content, resulting in a less coherent game community overall and that's what will eventually doom the game itself.
