Well, again, it is not memory related as this report shows. It's only even at around 1GB of 2.7GB general RM limit.voxtor_turak wrote: »Another day, much more problems
One more information: We were at a PVP party , trying to have everyone together at the same place. Couldn't get 5 minutes of play.

@Psychotius Thanks for posting this and details. if it is crashing on launch and from the report it is not the memory issue. Possibly a server issue. if you keep posting examples I will check for see if they are memory or not. There is nothing the report to indicate why this is happening in the way you describe.Try rebooting the Mac might help.Psychotius wrote: »Crashing every 5 minutes, or sometimes as soon as it logs the character in. The details are fine thanks @rjvenech. It is the typical memory crash in questing/ PVE after about 2 hours 20 minutes.
Setting Texture Quality to Medium if it is not already should help to extend that time. Also you can check in the Activity Monitor for the eso process (ESO game) and double click it to see Memory. When Real Memory gets close to 2.7GB or Virtual Memory to 3.7GB then restart the game to clear memory and avoid a crash. It's not a solution but helps to avoid it in a fight etc.
Try adjusting Settings > Video options to see how they help or not. For FPS setting Shadow Quality to Medium or lower will help the most. And always have Vsync OFF as it caps FPS rates and uses even more memory.
Thank you very much.
Just wondering, if I were to bootcamp, could I avoid this issue, would it still happen?
Thanks in advanced, and thanks for the thread! Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
Currently I believe the PC client uses less initial RAM for the game and thus has more RM left which means it is not crashing in the same way. But I have not seen many PC crash reports to check as most crashes reported are not specific on cause. There are reports that the memory is heavily used though and it appears to be CPU bound on the PC client which limits potential FPS.Mid2012 MacBook Pro 15-inch

It should help the memory crash but I suspect it doesn't help much with the other crashing problems in AvA. Best to try and see.
For questing, PVE I t can be mostly avoided by lowering Texture Quality and View Distance also helps. Given it is still launch and busy, personally I don't have a problem to reboot the game after 2-3 hours to avoid the crash.
On PTS before launch I went a week without a memory crash which indicates that, once things calm down after the initial launch period then it should improve also. Working is still continuing to improve this issue also.
Kind of yes. It doesn't show VM though so not full picture but gives indication of RM usage.Standing in town AFK and crash report when I came back (5 min).
So if I understand it correctly, do you compare mem.peak and mem.current to see if its a memory crash?

This is Apple's own crash report which gets created when the ZOSCrashReporter fails to create one. From previous posts they just confirm it is a memory issue in these cases. Also they are really large and get cut off in half anyhow in posts.Another Crash (unusual type)
-snip-
You are using a Mac Pro I assume with retail card? The Nvidia optimisation is very good for DX11 but mostly it is their implementation of the low level API changes which was announced at GDC earlier this year that will make the biggest difference from reading. These same changes should also come to their OpenGL API though it completely depends on how fast Apple will include them in their own Update drivers which are still a long way behind unfortunately.Using the new ~"magic" nvidia betas btw 337.50 (totally epic directX optimisation from nvidia with these btw)
As well as the Mac known memory issue, there is a lot of other server-side issues that need sorting from all the reports since launch.Anyway, ive tried everything sinc ethe crashes started. I am 99.9% sure its not my end as my system is more than capable of handing anything the game can throw at it, even gigantic zerg v zerg action. Everything was fine before the last patch. And I can reproduce it almost at will, im pretty sure its either down to the client just being borked since the patch for whatever reason, or when in a group, the lag/judder you get when ppl join/kicked is causing some massive ***. I will try not grouping at all and wandering around various giant skirmishes to try to isolate further.
The game is known to be CPU bound at least on higher end computers hence the throttling of FPS. This is more so on PC side from testing and posts.Have tried a lot of in game quality settings as well from everything maxed to everything on low (framerates stay the same btw no matter what quality im using. The low fps during massive seiges is purely the game engine. Which is only a good thing imo since the devs can optimise stuff over time to improve things. Its still very very early on in the games life
It's memory one after about 2 1/2 hours client time. One thing especially now with high populations, is visiting cities uses up a lot of memory with lot of players around. Once things calm down it will improve overtime. On PTS with low population I never crashed in a week.another one :disagree:[reporter]

This is the Mac Technical Support section. Hence my question So the driver details don't really effect Mac users except Mac Pro which has retail cards available. No im NOT using a mac. how DARE you lol
I would be interested to know what the initial memory usage is when you fist launch the game. I tested PC client with OpenGL via settings and it was similar to PC client. It is some way lower memory usage as Mac client I think due to Mac client having to load some other libraries and stuff.I have this problem on my Linux.
I use the Windows client with Wine "opengl" and i crash due to Virtual Memory by eso.exe process (3.9 GB of Virtual Memory) we want 64bits client or fix OpenGL.
On DirectX9/11 version it does not have any problem. (But DX is slow with wine, logic)
