Constant Disconnects "An unknown error has occured"

Once every 10 minutes or so I'm being thrown out of the game for no apparent reason and given the message "Error. An unknown error has occured".
This happens whether I'm in battle, walking around in a city or just being AFK, and sometimes my character also appears in a place that I was at a while ago; forcing me to walk all the way again to the place I'm actually heading to.

When trying to log on I usually recieve the message that my character is still in the game and will have to wait a while to log on again.

It's getting quite annoying. I've tried the obvious things like running the game as an admin and restarting the computer, and I am quite certain it has nothing to do with opening ports. Other than these neverending disconnects the game works about as flawlessly as one could expect from a newly released game.

So my question is, does anyone have a clue what this is all about? And is this happening to someone else as well or just me?

Yes I'm having the same issue....mostly it's when I'm going in to an "instanced" area...when I'm on the loading screen from one to area to another it kicks me from the game with an unknown error...and then when I try to get back in to the game it takes me forever to get back in..being stuck on the loading character screen half the time...I called my internet service provider and upped my internet speed...I followed every "fix" I could find on the forums from the ESO people and still have this issue...it's completely frustrating..

It really is. I hope to receive a confirmation that this happens to other players as well so that I know the problem is on their end and not mine. Sitting around and spending time on a problem that I won't be able to fix does not sound very tempting

Add me to the list. Happened in all 4 betas I was in and was told "it's beta". It is still doing it every 10-30 minutes. Does not matter what I am doing.

Does not do this in other games. 2 other people in this house play MMOs and do not have the problem.

I opened recommended ports on router, Changed ethernet port on PC, stopped other running programs, aligned PSU with Polaris while chanting celtic mantras. Nothing helps.

Ran a packet capture on my PC and then a traceroute on Bethesda IP#s. They are using Amazon AWS cloud for game. Do not know if that is good or bad.

Emailed support Sunday, no reply.

Same thing happens to me. I have comcast/xfinity and i believe this is an ISP provider problem.

I have the same issue, and i'm kind of pissed about it, since I reported this over and over in beta, and all I got back was "It's beta, we're fixing it".

I am also a comcast/xfinity customer in Minnesota.

In that case it stretches over a wide variety of ISP providers. In the last couple of months I've had two different ones.
I'm currently using the Swedish "Bredband2"

Still got this problem, thus not having been able to play at all.
Been in contact with the support for the last couple of weeks and now they've escalated it to the higher ups.

I Get the exact same thing when i play at home. I'm with rogers. But when I go to my buddies house who has Bell. I don't get it anymore so I can verify it's the ISP

I get it often too lately ,perhaps because because the stupid hackers are messing around with stuff

I have the Unknown Error during the loadingscreen upon changing the zone. Or the game will stuck while "requesting character load"

Either way, there is no official solution for this problem with the unknown error. You have to contact the support and hope that they can help.

After about 2 weeks struggling i gave in and installed the trial version of WTFast (was mentioned in various threads as succesfull workaround) and voila ... no dc because of unknown error and no stuck during character load
