If you could change one thing about eso, what would it be?

happy holidays :)

I would like for the whole questing system to get some fixes to make the game's story easier for new players to understand, like removing dlc/expansion npcs from vanilla game zones.
Adding a story mode option where players chose btw dc,eb,ad and are given the quest to the story in order.
So for example i chose DC i already completed glenumbra, so i get the quest to continue the story on the other zone that comes next.
And this goes untill imperial city.
After that the content is dlc or expansion, so i'm not sure how things would go.

Just for the fun of it, I'm going to go with a change that I KNOW will be unpopular:

Remove all Wayshrines, except for those in the major cities in each zone

Richer storytelling where decisions matter and have consequences and alts are once again encouraged and embraced through proper quest, achievement, and journal tracking.

I would like that too, @francesinhalover It was very confusing and overwhelming to me when I started the game and I won’t claim to be entirely unconfused now, lol! I would like to have just one of the three Alliance questlines available, either to each character or at a time (and if per character, there should be a way to do additional if someone wishes, as there has always been) and those quests not available out of order. You could still go anywhere you want in Tamriel and do local quests! But quests part of a single storyline should not be available out of order. It would also be nice if having additional chapters/DLCs/ESO+ gave you the OPTION to start these when and on which character(s) you choose.

But if I was to change ONE thing, it would be to have actual dialogue options and more quests with options in ESO. This is one of the reasons that I often prefer the smaller local stories in ESO, as there is often a significant choice in how the quest can be resolved (and also because these stories are contained and don’t involve a convoluted plot between daedra, several cults, and the kitchen sink, but I digress). Most of all, I would like the world to respond to my character and choices. It is very jarring to me when NPCs talk as if they didn’t know my character’s race or rather as if my character hd no race and was not part of the world of Tamriel. But I would also like to have dialogue options, even if the outcome is the same, that the NPCs would remember, not only what I have or haven't done, but whether I was a hero, a mercenary, a jerk, annoyance, whatever. I believe this would, for many players, add to the replay-ability of that hand-crafted content. That was the main thing I enjoyed in SWTOR and I would create additional characters just to play the story a different way.

Removal of Hybridization and make classes unique. Everyone using armor and essentially skills is boring.

You really don't even have to look up builds anymore. Mag Whorl/Pillar and maybe a class spammable. I don't bother really with Stam so not sure, but everything is the exact same.

I can't think of anything that I would like to be outright changed, what I'd like to see is existing systems getting some love and constant new additions and QoL improvements that refresh the gameplay experience. The game is overdue for new classes, weapons and skill lines for example, and the Guilds system feels archaic and so on..

Once a month make one of the districts in Imperial City a free for all zone for the weekend. Along with that once a month disable the flag in one district (not same as free for all district) so that dead players can instantly port back to their safe spot in that district and jump back into the fight. Before flags in Imperial City some of the fights were epic. With flags the faction owning the flag eventually dominates the fight as the other two contend with multiple load screens to get back to the fight.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I would make it so that Stamina was only used for core combat abilities and not for any skills. So that would be:

    Blocking
    Dodging
    Bashing
    Sneaking too
    etc

All other skills, including weapons would use Magicka and would gain back Magicka, none would return Stamina.

Furthermore, I would make it so that you would only gain Stamina back from Blocking, not heavy attacks. This would mean a Tank would be pretty much blocking most of the time (they should be anyway, that's their role lol) to be able to retain his Stamina for other skill use.

Magicka would still gain Magicka back from heavy attacks, in fact I might consider changing that to light attacks instead, and have heavy attacks just do a LOT more damage - for the risk vs reward nature of it.

Now, bring on the hate/anger for me merely just suggesting this abomination lol.

Personally, I like the concept of making a distinction between "Skills" and "Spells".

"Skills" would be restricted to Physical abilities, like Weapons or Physical actions (like blocking or running), requiring MOSTLY Stamina (+ minor Magicka requirements sometimes). I think it makes more sense for physical activities to not only be called "Skills", but also require Stamina (bracing for impact, swinging a sword, pulling a bow string).

"Spells" could be created under a new SpellCrafting system! They would require MOSTLY Magicka (+ minor Stamina requirements sometimes). Using Magicka though is more inherent and not really a "Skill"; therefore being called literally a "Spell" and requiring the use of magicka. Some "Spells" might be so powerful and involved that they require some Physical strength too... so they may require extra Stamina costs, but "Spells" would primarily be all about using Magicka.

Staff skill lines and Guild Skill lines would be completely removed under this new concept.

Bring in a team that doesn’t make extreme combat changes every three months, and add whatever is necessary to release bug free patches, or at least add the resources to properly test bug fixes before releasing patches to the live servers.

Rather than having dualwield and onehand + shield I would have a 1handed skill line, a shield skill line and two unarmed skill lines (one for magic and one for punching). Maybe even a dualwield skill line as well for good measure. You also wouldn't be restricted to using just one weapon skill line anymore so long as you meet the requirements to use the skills on that skill line.

It always bothered me how ESO forces us to use weapons when the previous elder scrolls games did not. I get that for the purpose of item sets they are still needed, but you could figure that out through placeholder items. Like a ring/brass knuckle item that equips into your weapon slot to allow you to cast spells/punch people. It wouldn't even have to be visible on your character so motif grinding wouldn't get worse because of it.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Sharable resources: meaning if someone harvest a resource (flower, runestone, wood log, ...), it disappears for that player but remains available for other players, like in GW2 for example.

I agree it sounds like a peanuts issue said like that, but in fact, since it's a continuous bother, it's no more such a "small" issue to me. o:)

I would say that's a great idea for those of us who farm for our own stuff and have to fight bots, but I just pictured bots literally thousands strong running the same route bogging the servers down.... still gave you an awesome for trying to think of a solution 👍
