Same issue still this morning. PC/NA, not Steam. Used the workaround of launching from the executable file successfully yesterday. Today I can use it but I get to the login screen and it says i need to update my client (that was expected but just wanted to check).

Starting the launcher still hangs on Checking for invalid game files. I'm running task manager and seeing a tiny bit of activity from the launcher but nothing excessive or even what you would expect from patching. Nothing else running on my computer at the moment except this browser.

Also got this problem:
- Steam user
- PC/EU
- The .exe workaround worked yesterday but not today since it says I'm using an outdated client (and it always updates through the launcher).
- The workaround suggested earlier (deleting the launcher file) just resets the process to where the client updates, after which it gets stuck on the 'looking for invalid files' message.
- Strangely enough, this problem only exists on my PC and not on my laptop.

This was an issue yesterday evening before the patch even went live btw.

Sent a DM with my launcher settings and host.developer file. PC-NA player since 2015, using native launcher. Started having this issue since yesterday but was able to work around it by launching from the .exe. Obviously no longer able to do that due to the patch. Hope this gets resolved soon!

I disabled my windows defender and ran the launcher as admin and I finally got past the bloody "checking invalid game files..."

Sadly, disabling AV did nothing for me.

thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work on my PC

Okay I did more than just what I mentioned above. I will try to include everything I did.

• Download the installer from website
• Disable my anti-virus (windows defender)
• delete the launcher folder.
• install the game again and selected the old path (so no 90gb download)
• reboot
• run game as admin and turn on windows defender after

So to continue the game of hide and seek, could folks let me know what version of Windows everyone is using? We haven't gotten any Mac errors reported, so we are making the assumption about windows. But if that assumption does not fit your scenario, please let us know that as well.

Yep, I'm using Windows 10 Pro. Still stuck in launcher limbo.

Windows 7, I have same problem as other players here, "checking invalid game files..." tried previous solutions, unfortunately nothing helped, will check for updates later.

Windows 10 for me with the same problem as the others with the "Checking for invalid game files" being stuck since yesterday :'D
Tried reinstalling the launcher multiple times and also running the launcher as admin but didn't really help

I did consider that, but not sure how to go about it since the launcher isn't working, don't you need that working to install the game?

Windows 10 - still sits on "Updating" and doesn't progress. Cannot DM that newest file for the same reasons as others state here.

Whoa, quick update. I'd left the launcher sitting in the background for several minutes and just a few seconds ago it suddenly burst into life and did its thing. It then sat on the "downloading" screen for about a minute before erroring out with "unable to verify - you'll need to repair". Quit it out, restarted the launcher and it appears to be downloading the update now.

You said it was stuck on "Updating" though - that isn't the issue most of us on this thread are experiencing, sadly.
