Thanks for the feedback all. Appreciate your patience here. Relaying your feedback to the team to continue investigations.
I'd like to give as much additional info as I can to help the team diagnose the problem.
I'm playing on 1060 gtx, pc (not laptop), playing on wired connection (not wifi).
Game worked perfectly fine yesterday, heck the game still works for me (I can run the game from eso64.exe), just that launcher says invalid game files is a bit odd since the game runs perfectly fine just not via launcher.
Did download anything on pc for a few days now, added eso and the launcher to my firewall exceptions and my turned my anti virus off to help test it out. I assume it's probably something with the launcher files rather than actual game files since I can run it fine outside of the launcher.

So for those who are not using steam and running the native client, we would like you to delete and reinstall the patcher. The team wrote up some steps for you to try here. Again, any feedback regarding if this worked is helpful. We'll pass any and all information over that could be helpful to the team. Thanks, all.
    1. Close the Patcher
    2. Navigate to the main Zenimax Online directory
    3. Delete the "Launcher" directory
    4. Download the latest ESO installer from www.elderscrollsonline.com
    5. Run the installer and install it to Zenimax Online directory (or whatever your directory is called)
    6. The patcher will open automatically when the installer completes.
    7. See if it opens without issues.

Hi all. Thanks so much for the host dev files so far. A few other questions from the team.

When you are in the launcher and you get the ,"checking for invalid game files", are you stuck at the message? Does anything happen after that is up for some time? Or is it in infinite loop?

And the team would also like to know if anyone keeps their patcher or PC on overnight? Not sure what the context is here, but this could be helpful to the team.

    1. I am a Steam player.
    2. PC.
    3. I left my launcher on overnight. My computer didn't sleep (this was accidental on my part). When I brought up the launcher, I was given a notification that a new launcher update had been detected and opted to close and relaunch to get the update. The update was successful.
    4. I received the same error. "Checking for invalid game files..." It simply stays this way infinitely, it doesn't appear to be taking any action whatsoever from what I can tell.

    Thanks, @HappyDan. This is helpful.

We have a potential work around from the team if you would like to try. I'll list the steps below:
    1. Close the Patcher
    2. Navigate to their Patcher directory
    3. Delete the Bethesda.net_Launcher.version file
    4. Restart the patcher to see it self updates and opens normally

Let us know if this works for you. If not, we'll go back to the drawing board.

This did not resolve the issue for me. I did as instructed in full, no change.

Ok I've deleted the launcher folder, downloaded it from the eso website and placed it in the zenimax online directory (well mine is named differently).
Had the same 30 seconds updating sequence, got updating for 1 sec and again the "checking for invalid files"

@ZOS_Kevin I'm on pc/na, but I have two accounts: One on steam and one with the zenimax launcher. The ZOS launcher works perfectly. The steam one is messed up, and I tried your fix and it is still messed up. But I'm currently online with the zos one. :)

I thought I'd let you know since i have both. I'm on a pc and the thing just spins, never finishes.

Bypassing the patcher by launching eso64.exe (Zenimax Online -> Game -> Client -> eso64.exe) has allowed me to log in. I suggest those reading this do that until ZOS can provide a more permanent solution.

It'll work to bypass for steam users if you have an older enough version, this doesn't work if you purchased that game AFTER a certain date in 2016. the exe will not work to launch the game solo for us.

Ok so I've deleted and restarted, it did a 30 second "updating" sequence with a bar moving to indicate it is actually updating.
But after it finished it reopened the "updating" for like a second and returned to the "checking for invalid game files"

Same. I deleted the file, restarted the launcher. It updated. And then went right back to the "checking for invalid game files" status.

If those with issues could try what @Inari Telvanni did and try launching the eso64.exe to bypass the launcher, that would be helpful. Let me know if that works and I can pass that on to the team.

Thanks for the continued feedback all. We are going to continue investigating into tomorrow. Remember, if you haven't done so already please make sure to note the following to help us during the investigation.

Are you playing on PC or Mac?
Are you using the native client or Steam?
Are you on PC NA or PC EU?
And would you be able to get a copy of your host developer folder and share it via DM? This is the help article to access the folder: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25196/

This info will help us narrow down the issue. Thanks so much.

    Greetings again,

I'm on PC NA and NOT on Steam

I just tried all the above instructions to delete the launcher and reinstall it as mentioned but it is not working, unfortunately. I still have the same problem as earlier, although I am able to play the game using the eso64.exe

    Thank you for your help

I use ESO through Steam and was able to login by opening the game directly after resetting my password. It was a bit of a debacle but it's better than no ESO on Halloween.

Unfortunately, using eso64.exe doesn't work on my side because my account is way too old (alpha), impossible to log via the game directly because linked to Steam.
The complete reinstallation of the game works to fix the launcher problem though (I pressed the wrong exe in the list ....)

PC NA, native launcher, accounts on both NA and EU. Tried the instructions for deleting/reinstalling launcher, but it still starts then sits on "Updating" and doesn't do anything further, no change to the progress bar after half an hour, doesn't give any error messages or even get to "checking files", just sits there.

    Computer's been restarted, no difference.

Can launch the game okay from the eso64 executable.

About to try and DM that file through.

    Thanks folks!
